In director Randall Park's Shortcomings, Ben is a struggling filmmaker, and when he’s not managing an arthouse movie theater as his day job, Ben spends his time obsessing over unavailable blonde women, watching Criterion DVDs, and eating in diners with his best friend Alice, a queer grad student with a serial dating habit. reviews seem pretty consistent... lukewarm. I wished it was like Past Lives or Always Be My Maybe. Or Chris Evans' directorial debut... Before We Go.
Will check out this movie regardless to support Asian American creators.

I just saw it, it was good loved the chemistry between the leads. Kinda wish the ex could've been torn into a bit more. Great point about the side characters being less fleshed out or important to the story.
