My best gaming day happened last November; I'm 29, and the father to two kids. My son has a condition where he can get growths in his mouth that come out of nowhere rapidly. One night when he was 6 months old he stopped breathing in his cot, it was pure luck that I went to check him, and even better luck that it was me who found him, as when I was 16 I did a course on life preservation. I managed to bring him back via CPR, and he's since had operations that make the situation a lot better. I've been left shaken with very bad PTSD (it took a very long while to get him back, I thought he died). Gaming has been a big part of my rehab, but I don't have a lot of money. I was really sad that on one hand this hobby was something that made me feel human , but I couldn't afford a next gen console either. My one console, a second hand base ps4, was begging for death as it was. I then won a competition, where I won a Series X, PS5 and a 43 inch tv to go with it. My partner gave me a present of an entertainment center for the whole thing, and now I have my very own mini man cave. I've finished 54 games this calendar year, and I'm happy to say my mental health has been taking some forward steps the last few months. I don't think I'll ever have a greater gaming related moment.
It’s a lost weekend for me when the Omega Cops take time off 😢 I hope you all had a blast and if not a nice bit of chill time, but it sure is good to have you back. Thank you 🙏
In English, the name is derived from Old English Wōdnesdæg and Middle English Wednesdei, 'day of Woden', reflecting the religion practised by the Anglo-Saxons, the English equivalent to the Norse god Odin. In some other languages, such as the French mercredi or Italian mercoledì, the day's name is a calque of Latin dies Mercurii 'day of Mercury'. -Wikipedia
My best gaming day (and a half) started on 10th Nov 2004, the day Halo 2 released in my region. I spent the daytime blasting through the amazing campaign, then that evening went to a friend's place to play LAN multiplayer, we had 8 people and put the couches back-to-back for teams of 4. We went overnight until we crashed, and then the next day I went to another friend's house for an even bigger LAN party with well over 20+ people using two floors of the house to separate the 2 teams of 8 players, and of course to accommodate so many players we had to BYO our OG Xboxs and CRT TVs! We did that all day until I crashed again. Awesome day and a half
Welcome back, Goose Campers! I hope you enjoyed your much deserved break, but let me speak for everyone when I say this was a long two weeks waiting for your much anticipated return. Thanks again for all your hard work to bring this to us weekly. Nicely job!
This is my fave episode ever. The stories of greatest game day memories of old was heartwarming. Mine would be the unboxing of my mega drive and firing up Batman for the first time and I was totally blown away with it - it was the first time I thought I had arcade quality games in my own home. I loved that day - even though buying the system and game nearly bankrupt me. It was totally worth it.
Scoop! Wednesday in Swedish is "onsdag" which is short for " Odens dag" (Odins Day). I think it is the same for norwegian , Danish and Icelandic. All the names of the week here in Sweden are named after the gods of Norse mythology with the exception of Monday and Saturday.

Favorite video game day for me is December 25, 2006. My dad waited in a cold early morning line to get us a Wii when it released, and on that Christmas morning we plugged it in and were in awe of the motion controls. I still remember the look on my dad’s face when he swung the wiimote and his mii swung its tennis racket in response!
As a Scandinavian person, just wanted to say our week days literally are named after Nordic and dedicated to Norse mythical gods, and yes Thursday in my country is called Torsdag, Thors-day.
Just a heads up, skip 31:18-32:00 if you don't want The Last of Us 2 spoiled for you. Mark Medina spoils the ending with no warning at all. I don't know how that got past editing so I am giving you all a warning now.
@@mark_medina_ign4725 Oh okay. I guess that's not as bad then. The game came out in June 2020 so it's 2 years old. Still though, people are very sensitive to any spoilers so I was giving them a warning.

I’m super excited for the Lollipop Chainsaw remake. I played it on PS3 but never finished it and I’ve been wanting to play it again but it doesn’t exist on PC
I remember one summer at my cousins house playing Secret of Mana together and listening to the Collective Soul CD while we leveled every character's weapon and magic levels to max. That was a good day.

The friends comment by Justin was sad. Now at age 34, despite most of us being married with kids, each year I still take a 1-week summer vacation trip up to our Maine cabin with my highschool friend group. There's about 8 of us and it's an annual tradition we've kept up since the year we got licenses. The week is full of living like we're 18 again with plenty of multiplayer videogames being played in addition to hiking, sightseeing, etc. More friend groups should try to do the same.
my favorite video game day was the time i went to best buy to get Guitar Hero 2 for xbox 360. while in the store, i saw a display for a game i never heard of, Bioshock, which just released that day. it looked cool, so i picked it up on a whim. Bioshock has been my favorite game ever since. what a great day that was.
Back in the day I avoided games like Senran Kagura and Lollipop Chainsaw because I cared about what people would think of me if they saw me playing them. Nowadays I'm and adult and I don't give a shit what others think, so if this remake improves the gameplay (kinda like how Nier Replicant did to the og Nier) and utilize the latests advancements in technology for them jiggle physics, I'm in.
How about, November 23, 1998? Also vividly remember the days I got 2 of my other faves, FF7 and Xenogears. I randomly bought 2 copies of Switch Portal Collection to enjoy with my boy, 12, just like you, Daemon. Money's tight, so he's learned to get squeeze every drop out of the great games I do choose to buy him.
I'm puzzled to think of a satisfying death for Kratos, considering he's been killed before and fought his way out of the underworld, and not to mention the numerous times he's severely wounded but survived. Feel like E3 should become a smaller event and be purely for media and marketing purposes and Reed Pop should hold PAX in more cities, so I don't have to fly to another city to attend one. Trying to work out the innuendo for Tools of Destruction, A Crack in Time & Into the Nexus.
Love GameScoop! One of the best podcasts or panel media off all time. Give some love to xenoblade chronicles 3. True E3 was a massive hype adrenaline shot. But these big shows had so little to do with reality. You see endless mind blowing specially made trailers that have no gameplay at all and do not reflect the real game at all. You get trailers and reveals for games that may not come out or won't come out for years. So yes E3 gets you really excited but then all those promises so rarely deliver. So you get a big high and then a big low when games don't come out or are really disappointing. I am not so sure I want E3 back
I figured out it was Bayonetta pretty early so I was screaming in my car “It’s Bayonetta!” and then when Mark said it I was like “thank fucking god.” I thought I was going to relive that nightmare of them fucking up that Tomb Raider one a few episodes ago. So funny.
Not sure who among the Omega Cops is into JRPGSs, but I hope you won’t sleep on Xenoblade for GOTY watch 😎 probably won’t pass up Elden Ring but I think it shouldn’t be overlooked
Did Mark Medina really just spoil The Last of Us part 2? The game only came out 2 years ago and I haven't played it yet. Justin was careful to just say the twist in God of War. Why do professional game journalists spoil games especially recent ones? Mark just comes out and spoils the game for everyone that hasn't played it yet. It is completely unprofessional. Thanks a lot jerk.
Idk man I feel like 2 years is a pretty reasonable timeframe to expect someone to have played a game. I get that time is a finite thing, but I don’t feel like 2 years is too soon to spoil a game. I also thought it was weird that Justin was being so careful with a 4 year old game. Idk
I can tell you this it won't be an xbox exclusive that wins it this year lol I bought a console that has no exclusives great idea that was anyway my prediction is god of war ragnarok or elden ring
I can honestly not understand why people love the 2018 God of War game as much as they do. Claiming it as one of the best games made of all time is confusing. First, let's just get the best qualities out of the way. Graphically GOW is beautiful, and some of the boss enemies and large characters/NPC’s are stunning. The magic that Santa Monica used when developing the Leviathan Axe is on a level that has not been accomplished since weapons like the Battle Rifle in Halo. The feeling the game gives you when throwing it and waiting for the perfect time to call it back cannot be explained in words. It is easily the most gratifying weapons in the game, and one of the best of all time.
Now let's actually break the game down and talk about the bad and not so good qualities. The first time I played the game I only made it about five hours before having to shut it off. The insane amount of verbal child abuse in the game is shockingly awful. Easily the worst quality of the game and honestly not sure if I have experienced a game as bad as GOW. Before anyone starts arguing back in the comments, yes, I finished the game, and yes, I know it gets better. I also know the story, and it is great, minus the constant belittling. I understand the struggle of losing a loved one, specifically my significant other. Still not excusable, and if anyone reading this is or has been spoken and/or treated like Kratos abuses Atreus, get help. Out of all the reviews, IGN, Poly, Meta, and multiple UA-cam reviewers, not a single mention of this. Worse, two of those reviewers joke about how they could never call Atreus by his name, but boy is how he should be known from now on.
If you like a game that is quite a bit like Rise of the Tomb Raider with better graphics but worse puzzles, GOW is for you. The enemies for the most part become boring quickly. Prepare to fight the same things constantly. Narrow straight forward areas that have forks in the road every so often to try and make it seem like they are large become old fast. The game also makes you backtrack sometimes after unlocking abilities. Not the worst, but through areas that were not that great the first time through become rough when forced to make the trip multiple times. Real boring equipment upgrades are an issue. Unlocking new abilities help, but when you grind for a better piece of armor and it does little becomes old after the first time it tricks you into wasting time on it.
I strongly think that most of the hype and love for this game comes from nostalgia and/or the fact that not many Play Station games released in 2018 were that great, at least in this genre. Shadow of the Colossus, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Spider-Man and Red Dead 2 were the only other options. Not to degrade any of them, but this is when Assassin’s Creed games were hitting a fatigue level due to constant releases. Spider-Man was a home run, and Shadow of the Colossus was great, but a remake in the end. Red Dead had complications, and was rated high, but a slow game and not really in the same genre. I hope Ragnarök is great, and I am sure it will sell like crazy even if it is not. I also believe that even if it is basically the same game as 2018’s GOW it will review high. PS5 owners have nothing to play, so a lot of games are selling and scoring high simply due to this.
I just hope for the sake of God of war fans that Fenrir doesn't kill kratos with a golf club in the first part of the game! Then make you play switching between Boys story path and Fenrirs too...
In my humble opinion the game of the year needs to be a game that either does something that influences the rest of the industry for the better or at the very least does something new that no one has ever tried and does it successfully. Even though I'm not a Soulsbourne fan at all but it seems that Elden Ring checks at least one of those boxes from what I hear. TMNT is definitely great at most everything it does but giving that game GOTY would be a tragedy for the industry lol
God of War (2018) has also been called one of the best games of all time and that's been going for four years. Not saying it's a clear winner, but with the future recency bias, it will for sure grab some Game of the Year awards in some publications

SCOOP!
First of all 1i/11 is not a big a deal. Second the idea to not pick a date because another was suppose to be there is the stupidest thing ever.
It’s going to be really hard to top Elden Ring for Game of the Year

I just hope for the sake of God of war fans that Fenrir doesn't kill kratos with a golf club in the first part of the game! Then make you play switching between Boys story path and Fenrirs too...
Made that joke way before I got half way through the video ..it was redundant lol
Starfield isn’t coming out. So there’s absolutely no stealing.
Games come out Fridays on the same date all the time.
Conversation is silly to me.
Thrash panel
Not a single mention of xenoblade 3
Nope!
Its IGN a playstation network what did you expect. They also forgot to mention Kirby and the Forgotten land.
I mean, xenoblade is a very niche series. It's only going to appeal to so many people, so ofc it won't be hyped up like the other heavy hitters.
this has to be one of the weakest years in gaming ...........next gen is such a joke
“Horizon: Forbidden ‘What’”?!?! 😂
That’s it, Mark needs to be the new full-time cast member! I’m sure Tina would approve!
GOTTEM
Fools not excited for splatoon 3
In my humble opinion the game of the year needs to be a game that either does something that influences the rest of the industry for the better or at the very least does something new that no one has ever tried and does it successfully. Even though I'm not a Soulsbourne fan at all but it seems that Elden Ring checks at least one of those boxes from what I hear. TMNT is definitely great at most everything it does but giving that game GOTY would be a tragedy for the industry lol
Nahh, disagree...believe RDR2 won GOTY in 2018 over GOW
game of the year watch LMMFAOOOOOO we already know that Elden Ring is getting game of the year no buts about it.

And it’s likely the only game from
2022 that you played lol
People said the same about RDR2, you can never be 100% sure.
ELDEN RING
Elden Ring has been being called one of the best games of all time all year and the conversation hasn't stopped. No way its losing to anything.
God of War (2018) has also been called one of the best games of all time and that's been going for four years. Not saying it's a clear winner, but with the future recency bias, it will for sure grab some Game of the Year awards in some publications
So burnt out on GOW blah and Skull & Bones looks horrible Not fun at all
Annnnnd nobody cares! 😄
