I love this car, the great thing about this is, if anyone is searching for a project Porsche, it really details the kinds of struggles one can have, and your car is mint compared to what I have been looking for!!
Air hammer could have been used to take those ball joint nuts off too. The air hammer can be used for alot. Hey DP we all love hearing you behind the camera dont forget to say things man. I didn't hear you until like 20 minutes in
Pipe wrench for inner tie rod is your best friend in that situation. 10 min trip to Home Depot or grind a wrench like the others say. I love my pipe wrench.
I like the refresh, better than a rebild because all new parts are expensive. I learned this a long time ago when I had to replace a buch of bushings. Dealer cost was 750 for acouple parts. Prothane made a master kit for my car, for a hundred. Rented some tools and did it all myself. Incredible transformation and rewarding. Well done!
A hot tip for when you’re using a blow torch; the hottest part is just after the brighter flame - the “point” of the flame. I saw PT using the torch a little too close to the metal to heat it up effectively. 🔥 Hope this helps someone!
Longtime watcher here. Your 930 engine rebuild videos with Turbokraft helped me get through my own SC engine rebuild. Thanks for that and please keep the widowmaker content coming! 🤙
By far my favorite car in the SA fleet! Also, those new wheels are going to have to be pretty special to beat the look of those Rotiforms you have on it now.
Same here, but they're on a NA 3.5L v6 Rav4. Way better traction in all conditions except standing water (got caught in a crazy downpour on Tennessee backroads and couldn't exceed 30mph without it wanting to head for the ditches lol)
1:04 I run 225/50/16 Continental Extremecontact Sport 02s all season in the California Central Valley and they are wonderful. I don't really get anything other than rain so its really perfect for me.
Nice. The Bridgestone Potenza Sport is also available in classic 911 sizes (which coincidentally are the same as 16" AP1 S2000 sizes). For reasons known only to Bridgestone, the sidewalls are a LOT softer in the 16" & 17" Potenza Sport than the predecessor Potenza S007A though (S007A as a road tyre had the same sidewall stiffness as the RE71R). I imagine the Continental ECS02s have pretty soft sidewalls too, at least compared to a RE71R or S007A (or Firehawk Indy 500 which is about the same, nice and rock hard old school Bridgestone construction for maximum steering feel)?
@@TassieLorenzo Yeah I'm only on 16x6 wheels and considering airing the tires up, but I'll decide for sure once I get my alignment dialed in. It doesn't feel like a super hard sidewall but I am running 20mm wider tires than OEM so its bound to have more of a soft flexy feeling, overall not a huge deal.
I love everything this channel does all of the time. I have one question though.. Why not do a full alignment on video and then take that car to get an alignment and see how far off of spec you are?? This is a DIY educational channel, let us all learn together. !?
There's an inner tie rod end tool that's just a knurled u-bolt with a steel block that has a 3/8 square drive. Way handy, doesn't care about the flats. She sounds mean!! All those tapers and shape changes, that had to be tough to build! Car looks great!
10:00 You will hate those Polly bushings after they start squeaking. I converted back from them after only 2 months. I normally agree with you guys but those will be noisy AF
Just grind that wrench down. It's not just Porsche, I had to grind down a 32mm open ender for the steering rack on my R34 - worked fine with 40% of the material off it.
W episode youre def right if you dry ice it and all that extra stuff youre def not driving it im sure me and the viewers would love to see you enjoy that beast
Good stuff here. After having worked on an e30 versus and s2000, I've decided I don't want to do any wrenching on German cars. Way too many specialized tools needed for DIY maintenance.
Classic 911’s are the goat to me so I’ve been looking forward this series since you announced it. Awesome stuff. I do have to say the more I watch people work on German cars the less I miss my BMW’s. Say what you will about American cars but man my Corvette is so much simpler to wrench on. I’d still (and will) trade it for a 911 in a heartbeat though lol.
Loving this series! Great choice on the suspension refresh. It should handle amazing. Would love to see you do a Porsche 944 Turbo build in future. Just an idea for 2024 😉
There's actually an inner tie rod tool that has a Crows foot key that slides into a tube. At the end of that tube is a 1/2" drive home for your breaker bar. See Powerbuilt tool 648607
Inner tie-rod removal - I have a set of Harbor Freight wrenches for stuff like this. Just take it over to the grinder and thin it down ‘til you can get on 🤙🏻
I agree with you PT on the dry ice/ undercarriage resto…two many concourse spec 930’s floating around the digital ether! I’ve had four Porsches including a 997 4S Cabriolet and they’re meant to be flung hard into corners, not sit in a revolving stage in some fat cat’s hobby garage 😮
I wish everyone would fit a cat to their car. That smell and how it affects my airways is really obnoxious. My car is not required to have one but I think its a no brainer to have it..
That's my dream car guys! Looks like a pain in the ass 😆🤕🔧 - I gotta say though, a 911 is meant to be driven, so I appreciate the direction you're going. Otherwise buy a Singer if you can afford it. I know I would of I could...
Love the Porsche. Would rather see you drive it rather than going full resto. Cars are meant to be driven/used rather than sit as just art pieces (not to say they shouldn't look good or be taken care of though).
I'm not familiar with Porsche exhausts but are you essentially straight piped aside from the cat? That is going to be unbearably loud under load is it not? We only heard it idling...
Warning. When fitting after market alternative parts read the instructions first before removing the old bits. Often the bit you put a great deal of effort into removing and destroying in the process is meant to be left in place.
Are you guys filming with a fisheye or something? Everything always looks a little distorted for some reason. Super happy the Porsche is back on the channel. It is one of my favorite SA projects!
Just take a grinder to that wrench and make yourself a slim one ;)
It’s the only way I know of to change the starter in a LS400. Sometimes you just gotta sacrifice your favorite 14mm.
That's what I did! Grind it, stick it in a bucket of water, grind, water... etc.
That's EXACTLY what you do! I'm screaming at the TV! PT, how could you??
@@negativeindustrialoh just grab a new one from HF or HD and go to town grinding on that. Likely still cheaper than the specialized tool.
I was screaming at the phone. I don’t know why he didn’t just grind down his wrench. As an aircraft mechanic, I’ve ground all of my wrenches.
Keep it up with the 930 please! I love watching this series.
Ditto!

I really appreciate you saying 1987 is only 30 years of wear and tear 🙏
Buy a cheap wrench from harbor freight ( or what ever is the Canadian version)and grind it down so you now have a specialty tool. 😊
Pipe wrench for inner tie rod is your best friend in that situation. 10 min trip to Home Depot or grind a wrench like the others say. I love my pipe wrench.

Knipex cobra pliers are my go to for inner steering rods! Never left me hanging.
The 930 is cool and all, but did y'all peep that FC RX7? 😍
For anyone looking for high performance all seasons, Conti has the DSW06+ and they're awesome. I love mine.
I am a huge fan of the DSWs, I've got them installed in 3 different cars at the moment.
Same here, but they're on a NA 3.5L v6 Rav4. Way better traction in all conditions except standing water (got caught in a crazy downpour on Tennessee backroads and couldn't exceed 30mph without it wanting to head for the ditches lol)
Definitely need to see this on the track
I worked at an independent porsche tuning shop. Everything was ghettofabulous. We made almost all our specialty tools and it always worked out.
1:04 I run 225/50/16 Continental Extremecontact Sport 02s all season in the California Central Valley and they are wonderful. I don't really get anything other than rain so its really perfect for me.

Man it’s gonna be great. Can’t wait until you sell this one.
Absolutely love the Porsche content. Need more Porches.
I'm glad you're not going full restore and are going to enjoy it. This is my favorite car in the Speed Academy fleet!
I can't blame you at all for going with a cat on 93 octane gas. If you converted to E85 that would be even better.
I hate garage queens. Good to see you’re building something meant to be driven.
Also props for putting on a cat.
For those tie rods, a bicycle headset wrench is perfect.
I love everything this channel does all of the time. I have one question though.. Why not do a full alignment on video and then take that car to get an alignment and see how far off of spec you are?? This is a DIY educational channel, let us all learn together. !?
Thumbs up for keeping it a driver, not a show car.
There's an inner tie rod end tool that's just a knurled u-bolt with a steel block that has a 3/8 square drive. Way handy, doesn't care about the flats. She sounds mean!! All those tapers and shape changes, that had to be tough to build! Car looks great!
My favorite project from you so far. Excited for the wheels. Exhaust sounds and looks killer.
Loving the content on the 930. That is a top tier dream car! 🤤
10:00 You will hate those Polly bushings after they start squeaking. I converted back from them after only 2 months. I normally agree with you guys but those will be noisy AF
The powerflex ones are amazing. No squeaking if they’re installed properly.
27:34 I did my Arnold quote at the exact same time Dave did it! That was wild
Can't wait for more exhaust clips! I'm working on my own exhaust on my 350z, would love to get to that level of fabrication
Lubrication like PB blaster would do wonders with that bushing cutter tool...
This car build is amazing!!!
Just grind that wrench down. It's not just Porsche, I had to grind down a 32mm open ender for the steering rack on my R34 - worked fine with 40% of the material off it.
A pipe wrench on the inner tie rod works just fine. No need for flats.👍
W episode youre def right if you dry ice it and all that extra stuff youre def not driving it im sure me and the viewers would love to see you enjoy that beast
Suspension work really is a pain in the ass!!
Can you guys please ice blast the underneath on the Porsche? Would be an satisfying episode for sure!🤩
You guys gotta bring it over to see Jimmy now lol some of my favorite content creators both with the Porsches
All of that looks like a major pita!!!

this 911 is a gangster racer, I love it
i cant believe this channel is not at 1million+ subs
For the tie rod, if ya got some scrap metal plate laying around, might be able to grind/plasma-cut the right size and lever length.
@1:17 Rotaform is like "imma head out"
At least you know the bushes will be easier to replace next time and easily available 👍
Loving this series! Great choice on the suspension refresh. It should handle amazing.
Would love to see you do a Porsche 944 Turbo build in future. Just an idea for 2024 😉
Awesome! 930 content is 🔥!
See you in the next one!
I’m here for the grind of your builds 🍿😍
Remind me never to buy an old 911 as a DIY project car LOL
There's actually an inner tie rod tool that has a Crows foot key that slides into a tube. At the end of that tube is a 1/2" drive home for your breaker bar. See Powerbuilt tool 648607
Love this car! I see it on the thumbnail and it’s an instant click!
So much cool stuff. Just wish you powder coated or blasted/painted so those arms and such looked fresh
Inner tie-rod removal - I have a set of Harbor Freight wrenches for stuff like this. Just take it over to the grinder and thin it down ‘til you can get on 🤙🏻
That exhaust system turned out great and sounds good 👍
I thought for SURE that hacked socket was going to let go during the ball joint removal. I was clenching so hard watching that!!

Great series, keep it up!!!
Weird Canadian Drift Works déjà vu with that exhaust install hahaha
Love the cat exhaust.
you guys need a Magnetic Induction Heater for busting rust nuts and heating bushings etc. Come on tools sponsors - send these guys one
No point to run all season tires in summer, just get two sets of rims and swap over when winter arrives.
You’re not driving this in the rust belt, are you kidding me?! It’s a fair weather car.
I wish everyone would fit a cat to their car. That smell and how it affects my airways is really obnoxious.
My car is not required to have one but I think its a no brainer to have it..
Love this car!
Pete, eventually I think this car would be worth getting the dry ice cleaning treatment.
Silicone spray lube whenever cutting/manipulating rubber parts will save you a lot of effort.
black bird looks so cool, you need to find the devil z now
Loving the built!! ❤
Love the Porsche, but I'd like to see you build a Connie competitor like maybe a Datsun 240Z
We need to see the new wheels!
Man that’s a nice car
What a dope car
excellent video. thank you for sharing your work!
That's my dream car guys! Looks like a pain in the ass 😆🤕🔧 - I gotta say though, a 911 is meant to be driven, so I appreciate the direction you're going. Otherwise buy a Singer if you can afford it. I know I would of I could...
Need a FCP Euro collab with this one... tell em 10%Kyle sent ya!
You need a Facom T.276 tool for those tie rods.
Only thing missing is a set of bigger sway bars, I’m surprised you didn’t upgrade those!
Wooohoo! New episode!
Excited to see what the K series project stuff..Great decision not to go to deep in restoration..Some cars are best left just to be a good driver..🏁👍🏽
Bushings from hell lol what a pain! The exhaust sounds alright tho
DP @ 27:37 😂😂
sacrifice a cheapo wrench to the grinder for a minute. Boom $10 or less special slim wrench.
Harbor freight sells a tool for that it’s cheap and you’ll replace the entire assembly of the inner tie rod
Warning.
When fitting after market alternative parts read the instructions first before removing the old bits.
Often the bit you put a great deal of effort into removing and destroying in the process is meant to be left in place.
Get a Porsche, they said! It'll be fun, they said! 😂
Pipe wrench takes those tie rods right off
Missed opportunity to go 935 suspension
Grind down that wrench and make it a slim wrench man!!!
Just buy mastercraft wrenches when they go on sale and take them to the bench grinder. I have a whole drawer of cut, ground and torched wrenches
And you can cut a slot in the boxed end for half price line wrenches.
Thinking a coating of WD-40 on that cutting tool might have helped to pull it back out.
Never use a ratchet to break loose a nut or bolt, always use a breaker bar.
Are you guys filming with a fisheye or something? Everything always looks a little distorted for some reason. Super happy the Porsche is back on the channel. It is one of my favorite SA projects!
All season tyres are consistantly bad all seasons, awesome choice on high performance car 👍
How is the volume compared to the original magnaflow? Considering doing the same to my 911...
PT my man don't strain yourself! 😂 And on top of that inhaling rubber smoke 😅
8:43 I can smell this video
