Lyrics:
You run, run, run away
It's your heart that you betray
Feeding on your hungry eyes
I bet you're not so civilized
Well, isn't love primitive
A wild gift that you wanna give
Break out of captivity
And follow me stereo jungle child
Love is the kill, your heart's still wild
Shooting at the walls of heartache
Bang, bang, I am the warrior
Well, I am the warrior and heart to heart you'll win
If you survive the warrior, the warrior
This is my fighting cancer song. Listened to it alot during chemo and radiation treatments.

I hope you’re okay, you’re beautiful!
If you win then she has made her place in your life. Take care. I have a friend that had cancer and he has grand children now.
1984 I was 10, my mom was 36. She and I would sit and watch mtv videos together often. Videos like this one. She was usually the one to turn the channel on. I had friends who had moms that wouldn't let them watch mtv, I remember my mom found that appalling. She'll be gone for five years this past March. I miss her so much.
You had a awesome mom and I'm sorry for your loss.
💞
My parents were 11 that year. Every Friday Night when my dad gets home from work, we go into the tv room and he’ll put play many 80s music videos on UA-cam and turn it into our own private MTV. I will cherish those memories forever just like you did with your mother.
I had a cool mom like that!
My condolences she sounds like a amazing person
In short A WARRIOR

There was so much musical talent in the 80’s. Feeling blessed to have experienced that decade.
Especially because they had to actually play and sing it without computer BS fixing it for them.
I agree. The music designed in the 80's was special!
When you are in the presence of it, it's not as obvious. You just expect something. It passes you by
ACTUAL TALENT!
Yes, I just was forced to watch a Taylor Swift show. WEll, at least it is not rap or Beyonce, crap, it was hard to swallow. Does Taylor swallow? Ask Kelce.
I'm 49 years old now and can remember being a little kid glued to the TV waiting for this video to come on. I didn't have to wait long because MTV played it at least once an hour maybe more. It was on heavy heavy rotation back when the song was huge. I'll never forget it.
Me too.

Same, as a 12 year old dude it helped me to grow up like a man.
I remember when it premiered, the clawed man scared the shit out of me and I couldn’t sleep.
@@atlanteantruth we had all manner of childhood trauma in the 80’s ET, Old Yellar, Never ending story, and the death of Optimus prime, just to name a few😂

Dear Patty Smyth, thank you for not killing this video. Yes, it is silly, but then so was so much of the 80s. I love this video because it takes me back to when I was younger.
Silly it was, even for that era, but, great song. Didn't know until I read his autobiography that she was married to former tennis great John McEnroe. He had some hilarious stories about how she put him in his place when he got too "uppity" at music award ceremonies, lol.
It's a very artistic video, but it wasn't Smyth's (or anyone else in Scandal's) artistic vision. That makes it easy to see scrapping it. But, I think her record label was right in that it would be dumb to waste all the money that went into making it. And, it's not like it's terrible. It's typical overproduced 80's fare, sure, but for its era it's just fine.
Same here .
she was so good in this even though the Julliard extras were a little too full of their performances.
Only in the 80's could something be stupid and genius at the same time.
BANG BANG, WE ARE THE WARRIOR...THE ECHIDNA WARRIORS!

Saw this video for the first time when I was 9 and we were on a family vacation. I loved this song so much and I remember screaming and jumping up and down in the hotel room when the video came on. I seriously cannot believe that was 40 years ago. Where does the time go? Anyway, I'll always associate this song with that memory. The 80's was the best music ever!
This song is fire and fits knuckles very well

I got extremely hooked from the knuckles show.
I'm 66 years old, the music from the 70's and 80's, will never ever get old!! Young people may say that I live in the past, no, I just know good music when I hear it.
❤❤❤ Yup
Age 72 and right there with Ya the best music and a far better nation.
When you leave your body in this life and if your soul makes it to Heaven, you' ll realize NOTHING compares to Heaven. Everything you loved in this life awaits you in Heaven, but is 10 times better! Do good here and Heaven is yours! Dont cry over the past since the spiritual future is amazing.
The 80’s was a magical time.. what the F happened? How did we get here from there?
I ask myself the same thing. I sit here at work listening to my 80's jams because I would go crazy listening to all the other crap or the complaining of people around me. This keeps me calm, brings back some great memories and I just chill.
Liberalism, Wind Reaper. No fun. No jokes. Everything's offensive. Butt hurt is the rule of the day. Political correctness has everyone scared to relax and have fun. All words are subject to censorship. Millennials are the kids who never got spanked, and they've taken the fun out of life.
Too much wind in your sail reaper🤓
What are you talking about granTorino? I heard songs in the 90s that were like: I got 12 inches for you! Shoot & kill people! And other stupid crap like that! And the voice altering machines? 🤢

I'm right there with you too.... never got enough of the 80's even then. And now, it's almost all I listen to. Scandal and Patty were awesome. Just look at the video, pure art, camp great lyrics, passion and boy can she sing... my neighbours just might complain soon...
Why do you feel it necessary to mention your race?
@giantleprechaun2350 Probably because in the US your identity, personality, should be defined by your skin colour over all else. It's a bizarre phenomenon that unfortunately seems to be spreading. In Europe its not so much skin colour as parents country of origin, religion and/or political ideology (mostly those far left and far right). Its a sad thing to see. I remember when I grew up and all my class mates liked a band with lyrics that were left anarchistic. Everyone listened to them no matter if they were liberals, conservatives or social Democrats. Personally, I believe that you can dig whatever music you want no matter your skin colour, culture, religion or political ideology. They are not necessarily connected.
@@qp9vp I agree. I just don’t ever identify myself by my race.

@@justinedse8435Knuckles is a character from Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is a red anthropomorphic short-beaked echidna who is Sonic's secondary best friend and former rival. Determined and serious, but sometimes gullible, he fights his enemies using brute force and strength. His role is established as the guardian of the Master Emerald, a large gemstone which controls the series' integral Chaos Emeralds, and is the last living member of his tribe, the Knuckles clan.

@JPGaming349; I assume that You're referring to "arm chair Warriors",( no Ofense). I've contributed in an extremely small part on teaching "Warriors" by mentoring, trainning, leading by example, giving the Respect they'd earned and fighting at their side. bring back this decade please great songs of the eighties
MTV played this song and Boys of Summer lots in a time when I wasn't so happy. This helped me get through a difficult time. THX!
The Boys of Summer is a very emotional song if you listen to it in a certain way. To me it will always represent unfulfilled longing.

Patty Smyth had a great voice. The 80s were the beat
I've been singing along with this song on the radio for nearly 40 years now. How did I never know that the video looks like an off-Broadway performance of "Cats" before now? Wow.
After experiencing actual heartbreak this song has become my anthem. Heard this when I was a child of the eighties 😊 just loved her powerhouse vocals. Nowadays we have filmsy singers called icons😂😂😂. Wow what a time we had during the eighties ❤😊😊
Nothing beats 80s videos. So great.
Well, Patty Smythe didn't care for the video, saying that it resembled an off-Broadway version of "Cats". Literally compared the protagonist guy to the Thundercats mockingly. I grew up on the Thundercats and kid shows from that time, so I kind of liked the style of the video.
I remember watching this on MTV when they actually played videos.
Bob Basaraba No way. Really? A joke from a guy who watched the first video on MTV August 1, 1981 with my college buddies. And lots of Heineken.

This takes me back, those hot summer nights in the 80s, thinking about crushes, people who were alive then, but are not now, still had family, simpler times, things having more meaning, so different from this existence currently in play of a different world, different people of a time we are in now.

Vanessa Ketcherside mauh either
Well, you are missing the 60's and 70's. Drop the 90's.
I’ve actually found myself going back, and enjoying the music I didn’t like before because the new music is so bad. That’s what tells me that the new pop music is horrible, and not that I’m just getting old.
I actually think music started going down hill in the 90's. I'm 49 and only listen to some 60's,70's and of course the 80's my teenage years.
Benjamin Meyers I agree the ‘90s was definitely the beginning of the end. While there’s a good bit of music from that decade that I like there’s a lot that I can’t stand, and it was all genres of music across the board too.

Lucky you that they did that--and you can still enjoy the music they brought to you. . ..and through that, you are still connected. There is a great line in one of my favorite novels--its The Magus by John Fowles...a guy is reminiscing about a love that passed away. They are on a remote Greek island in a beautiful villa, it is night, very quiet. This is a very mysterious story and that atmosphere is strong at this point. The guy, 'the magus', lets the quiet linger, then says against the backdrop of the night."The dead live."HIs guest asks, "How?""The magus answers "By Love.."YOur parents live on through your love for them and your enjoying the music they brought to you. Nice that you loved them so much.

That's John McEnroe's wife since 97' they have a daughter name Ava. I see them all the time around Central Park near the Museum of Natural History...great Tennis analyst these days and has mellowed somewhat from his cursing the umpires in Wimbledon.
+Franklin NJ well i hope she fucking plays tennis.
+Franklin NJ I wonder what McEnroe would have done had he had the challenge like they have now. Would he have been less effective without all the anger over bad calls, or more effective?
+Baritone45: He would be different but just as good, he would have found other means to get inspiration other than shouting at people, he would calm down and play better with his screaming but that was a more rebellious time you only have to listen to his wife's song in this video, women, young people were revolting in some form or other. Players today are more mature and treat themselves as an enterprise on to themselves but the fist pumps and the "come on" after a winning shots they get from McEnroe and Connors from the 70's-80's.
+Franklin NJ I'm sure he's smashed a tennis racket or two over her head at some point
