I love your kindness to all animals. You’ll find Daddy Long Legs where there’s fresh clean water. They are gentle and eat bugs by the water. It’s a sign that your water is pure.
I am delighted to see that Drogo has lost his limp. He is as good as new and much loved. He has found his place in your home and is an integral part of it. Lovely to present it !
Hi I think the spiders are harvestman's also known as Daddy long legs. Theories abound that they kill other more harmful spiders to humans. There is nothing better than walking through a garden after a good rain shower. The smell is that of renewal and freshness. The worst part of summer storms is that lightning can trigger spot fires. The property is looking great especially the garden. I truly love the pace of life you both enjoy. If you cannot stop and enjoy the time you make for reading, drawing and relaxing, you can lose track of the reason you both made the move.
I love Diogo's bopping around to see what you’re doing he’s comical ,and when you kissed him & he immediately turned & kissed you back what a mommas boy ! Lol It’s great you’re not as uncomfortable as past summers ,they were brutal . See you next week !
I used to live in a static caravan. They are classed has a summer home. It was really hot in the summer. I built another roof over the top of it. So it was cool in the summer and warm in winter.
Only discovered your channel yesterday, watched back to back for 3 hour,s love it apart from your animal's and the tasks you face its fascinating, what's best your lack of pretention and calm way is a pleasure, from an admirer
In Australia we call them "daddy long legs" (spiders). Perfectly harmless. They are to fragile to bite etc. The wind could carry them away. Maybe the wind brought them here 😅
Thanks for helping the little Magpie, we hand raised a Indian Mynah he spoke beautifully, he knew all our dogs names, we released him once he was older and often heard him around our property shouting the dogs names he was a delight, our Harry we were fortunate tho to get bird food from a company, who made it near us and we fed him flying ants which he loved, always follow your heart, I would also never leave anything to be predated upon.☝️💜🫡
I'm so glad i found your channel a few days ago, and now I'm binge watching in no particular order! It's lovely to see how you're getting on, and you really do make beautiful videos. I wish i could have done something similar when i was your age, but life took a different path for me. Anyway, i can at least get vicarious pleasure from watching your escapades! Greetings from beside the sea in Devon.
Lightning strikes would have caused the fire!! We have the same problems with dry grass and thunderstorms here in Australia even though I personally love thunderstorms!! But thunderstorms and tinder grass do not mix!! it can be devastating and sad to the wildlife...but the regeneration and the rebirth of nature is really something!!
Hi, thanks for your lovely video. I love the rain, it washes all things clean and the ground/ wells need it so. Harvestmen, is the name for your small body and long leg spiders. They stick together for warmth and hunt in your garden. The sunflowers look so beautiful, your toms and veg too. The taste of home grow is the best. Your roadway is looking so much better, easy on the car springs too. Here we have a pothole problem, Ihad a spring replaced on the car last month. I'm enjoying the warm weather in the UK, lots of wildlife. Thanks for sharing stay safe and sane both of you. Chicken catching in the rain, could be a new kepfit sport.😊
Looks like you have daddy long legs (spiders). Their webs are very fine, good for catching mosquitoes and fruit flies and even the smallest of insects. Also good to encourage bats on to your farm, as they are excellent in controlling insects to. Back home in Africa it was good to have these spiders in your bedroom to catch and feed on mosquitoes. When weeding your garden it’s always best to use a fork to loosen the soil around the weeds to be able to pull them out roots and all. A fork is also a very important tool for everything like aerating the soil, lifting potatoes etc.
Everything is so plush on your farm. The rain was perfect. How far you two have come since you first started videoing. The journey is the best part. Take care.❤
Those spiders look like what we in Australia call 'Daddy Long Legs', they have tiny bodies and really long fragile looking legs, don't do any harm to humans other than make webs in the corners of rooms.
What a week you guys had! Great shots of the moon:) And the shot of the tomatoes green to red had me swooning. Well done guys for the pump & clearing & magpie saving
I rescued a baby seagull 3 years ago and raised it to adulthood. Very unimaginatively I named him “Jonathan”. Have a seagull nest on my chimney every year with varying successful raising,
I do hope the seagull just appears one day 🥰 that would be magical! Love the square space ad so much haha! I started imagining what it would be like if dogs could use social media and how funny their dating profiles would be 😂 lovely video as always. Find them so relaxing xxx
Oh my gosh, it would be amazing if George was here 😆 if only the dogs actually could contribute, I’d have so much more time to potter in the garden 💛 thanks lovely, can’t wait to catch up on your latest
U guys r so soft spoken I have such a hard time hearing u. I have it on as loud as it goes. I hear your ads perfect and when your up close speaking at the camera. I love your videos and your both such lovely people, I just wish u could adjust the volume when your outside a bit. Maybe it’s just me going deaf. Lol plse know I’m not criticizing u I just enjoy your videos I don’t want to miss anything.😁
Sorry about that Joanne, it’s not just you, it’s something I’ve been told my whole life that i speak too softly. I’ll try and remember to speak more loudly and work on the post edit. Thanks for commenting so kindly about it ☺️ glad you enjoy our videos 💛
Beautiful photography in this video thanks both. Gosh some people are passive aggressive :( please don’t change anything. You followed your hearts and the rules re an injured fledgling in Portugal whose rules generally seem to me very sensible and respectful of their land and wildlife - love that you are repurposing the tank instead of removing it and I hope the filters do the trick and your camplux can now cope with the water pressure ?
I love 💕 all the animals taking it in turn sitting on sofa at the laptop 🤭🤣 Love watching the rain 🌧️ and the smell of the wet earth 🤗great video as always guys 🥰lovely seeing Luke and Sarah at the end too 🙃
We have, we’ve tried a few different things now… problem is that the foundations are broken so once it’s full it loses its integrity. We’ll definitely build a new one.
Good morning, Carissa and Iwan. I’m glad that you rescued the baby magpie… I hope it is cared for and released. I love to watch whatever is happening on your homestead… see you next week❤️❤️
The driveway is looking better all the time. Building the rock wall's, and filling in the driveway is very hard work. I love how your animals seem to think you are their entertainment, just following you around to see what you're doing.
I notice you have a good wind flow on your property, you might check into a windmill to get a back up to power up your batteries and the solar. There are many plans on u-tube on diy windmills. Just a thought. I enjoy your videos so much and your fur babies are so happy. I wish you great success and good health.
One of my favorite books by a woman in Aberdeen who rescued a magpie (amoungst other birds). the book is called Corvus, but I can't remember the author's name.
Loved the thunder storm, at least your garden had a good drink. Hope the magpie is saved. All your animals are adorable. Maybe consider one of Cindy's kune kune pigs,or a goat to keep the grass low, save on cutting. ❤
Hello Carissa, Iwan, Frankie, Diogo, cats and hens ( i can't remember all the cats or hens names). Seems those spiders seem to be daddy long legs, yet here in England daddy long legs are those awful crane fly things. I wonder if that fire was caused by a lightning strike. I am glad you rescued that juvenile magpie. I hope somehow it manages to survive, actualy once tail feathers are lost, can they regrow do you know? I hope so as that is the best case scenario. I love the smell of the earth after a rain storm esp if the ground has been dry. There is a name for it, but i can't remember that either. I shall look forward to your extra mid week video. It may distract me for a while as i wil be a fidgety so an so as, Thur is my knee replacement surgery. Looking at weather, so far there is rain which is good as it wl keep my veg, flowers and fairy village watered. I have sorted drip irrigation out ( plastic bttles with bases cut off and holes drilled in the neck or cap) but that has gone for edibles and expensive plants, roses, and in memory of past fur babies plants. Your veggies lok very bountiful, those toms look so good. Any way bye from me and my furbabies (Foxy, Ola and Milo)x
I wonder if it was a lightening strike during the storm? Glad you are all safe. I hope the fledgling thrives. They may be like blackbirds and fledge before they can fully fly, they take about two to three days of fluttering before they get truly airborne. But I guess he was a free meal there on the ground.
How nice with the strong and quick raining...plants got very “happy” ....and you too 😊... this used to be the normal rain during summer, but the world 🌎 many different things have been causing a serious change in the nature worldwide 😢 But isn’t amazing how things feel better...kkk..I used to were my swim suit and play in the rain with my friends during summer...long time ago, things have changed. But your garden has been doing well with your care😊🎉 Just sharing those bugs are typical for hot humid summer days. In Texas were was the the driest place I have ever been in for some years helped understand the difference as the bugs are also specific for the different areas ...in Texas the problems were with snakes and such...in the climate of humidity usually have the bugs 🕷 🐛 🐜 you see in your garden...and they don’t cause serious problems ...just clean up and there are some things, flowers and such you can put your garden and keep them away...
How do you manage to keep your pants white with pets around? Every time Diego came next for a pet, i was going... Hey 😊. Your pets are adorable. Absolutely loved the sky sequence, just before potato digging happened.
If it stormed, there may have been lightning. lightning can start a fire, unfortunately. Wind spreads it. Bummer. Can't imagine trying to fly in a storm, if I was a bird.
Beautiful images again Carissa. ❤ i love the work you are doing, it fills the soul, whether building the stone walls or rescuing animals. The fire season has begun, i hope you have an exit plan and are ready to leave quickly with your animals if you should ever be in the way of fires.
Another lovely video, love your focus on beauty in the small things in nature. The spiders are definitely daddy long legs, we have them in Australia. They eat lots of other insects including mosquitoes. Nice to see some lovely summer rain for your garden.
Another great video. I am very happy for you guys. ☀️👍 Life is taking me far away from Europe, but I will always follow you. Have a lovely week-end 😉☀️🙏
Hi love your vlogs when you know it's going to rain jess from root and refuse says you should harvest all your red tomatoes so they don't split and also it dilutes the flavour xx
Hello... The spider thing u had showed to us here in the states we call Daddy long legs they are one of the most poisonous spiders but but they unable to bit making them harmless lol bit of trivia 😅
Hi Guys, hope that sump you put the water pump has a hole in the bottom of the wall to drain. If it fills with rain it could ruin your elactrics, a good roof would help too.

Steady work on the land and it’s looking so nice. Great job saving the little bird. So glad that the fire was put out in time. Keep it up guys. Love and be safe!🤗😘🌼🇻🇪
You said you didn't understand why there was a fire when it had been raining half an hour ago, read about the new ways fires start, its called 6th generation fires, it storms and lightning in one place and rains in another.
He’s really coming along well, he has a lot of muscle on that leg now which is great - lots of eggs 😉
Your filming during the rain storm was just so beautiful
Thank you!

Beautiful sunsets.
Well done for helping the little bird , i am very nervouse of helping birds but sometimes its their only chance . We do what feels right at the time 😊
All right !!! This time my PPE shouting reached across the Atlantic and back in time. Thanks for easing the tension. 😊
Haha!

😅
Oh my....😢.... fire allready, glad you all ok, thank god for the Bomberos❤
I love 💕 all the animals taking it in turn sitting on sofa at the laptop 🤭🤣 Love watching the rain 🌧️ and the smell of the wet earth 🤗great video as always guys 🥰lovely seeing Luke and Sarah at the end too 🙃
To seal that block tank have you tried "waterproofing hydraulic cement"? That should seal any leaking.
We have, we’ve tried a few different things now… problem is that the foundations are broken so once it’s full it loses its integrity. We’ll definitely build a new one.
Some potatoes are deeper than you think. I have seen other gardeners discover this when they dug down more.
Good morning, Carissa and Iwan. I’m glad that you rescued the baby magpie… I hope it is cared for and released. I love to watch whatever is happening on your homestead… see you next week❤️❤️
The rain will be good for the garden before it gets too hot. Hope the bird gets better.❤️❤️

We call those spiders "Daddy Long Legs" in the US.
Now that is a sound that I can fall asleep too! Love that peaceful sound. Love your channel as well!
So lovely isn’t it. We woke up to a big storm this morning and I just stayed in bed listening to it ☺️ thanks Millie 💛
You are surrounded by such beauty.
Loved this so much! You have such a beautiful life there
So happy to see you have the same color zinnias I do in my garden. I actually started propagating them because I love them so much
One of my favorite books by a woman in Aberdeen who rescued a magpie (amoungst other birds). the book is called Corvus, but I can't remember the author's name.
Esther Woolfson ?
Sylvia Plath’s daughter Frieda Hughes just published a book called George in which she rescued, raised and released a magpie. Excellent read.

@@FrankieOffGrid thank you x
I am always amazed at how much potatoes you harvest in your garden. Your hands are blessed, they tender good amount of fresh food.
It amazes me too! 😅
I always love your nature footage... So beautiful, so delicate. That sequence that starts at 6:39, for example. Or 12:17.
So glad you like it!

I don’t 😆 they’re always filthy by the end of the day but the most comfortable to wear in hot weather. Diogo says hey back ☺️ x

If it stormed, there may have been lightning. lightning can start a fire, unfortunately. Wind spreads it. Bummer. Can't imagine trying to fly in a storm, if I was a bird.
I’m always captured by the amount of activity that goes on in Portugal skies! Lots of chemtrail stuff too!
So nice to be indoors when it's raining all rugged up

Daddy longlegs spiders - great bug catchers
Beautiful images again Carissa. ❤ i love the work you are doing, it fills the soul, whether building the stone walls or rescuing animals. The fire season has begun, i hope you have an exit plan and are ready to leave quickly with your animals if you should ever be in the way of fires.
That rain storm I am sure was very welcoming for you. A lovely video once again.
It is very beautiful here you live. Some lovely photography guys, thank you. X:)
Thank you!
Another lovely video, love your focus on beauty in the small things in nature. The spiders are definitely daddy long legs, we have them in Australia. They eat lots of other insects including mosquitoes. Nice to see some lovely summer rain for your garden.
Thank you!
Stunning photos as usual ❤
Thank you so much 😊
Hi! That plant you thought was marjoram, is wild oregano. We collect it and leave it to dry upside down.
I think it’s the same thing, wild oregano is Majoram.. I think 😅
You can fix leaks in water tanks with a product named tidilac or tydilac I don’t the right spelling. But you can find it on building Merchant’s.
Sooo look forward to your posts.......... keep looking for them! HUGS
Another great video. I am very happy for you guys. ☀️👍
Life is taking me far away from Europe, but I will always follow you.
Have a lovely week-end 😉☀️🙏
Hope alls well with the fire and the magpie is ok,you may find the bird will stay close when it recovers.
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you guys.
Storms are so beautiful but the lightening strikes are not! Canadian here with more than our share of fire woes. 😢
I hope you have a rainwater capture system.
We certainly do!
Hi love your vlogs when you know it's going to rain jess from root and refuse says you should harvest all your red tomatoes so they don't split and also it dilutes the flavour xx
Wonderful filmography ❤
Thanks matey!
Hello... The spider thing u had showed to us here in the states we call Daddy long legs they are one of the most poisonous spiders but but they unable to bit making them harmless lol bit of trivia 😅
Superb video ❤
Call those spiders daddy longlegs in south Africa
Lovely editing and loved the bit with Iwan and the chicken❤
6:19 not such a good sound but at least they are there. Take care
Absolutely!!
Such peace. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Guys, hope that sump you put the water pump has a hole in the bottom of the wall to drain. If it fills with rain it could ruin your elactrics, a good roof would help too.
That’s definitely the plan.. fortunately we shouldn’t have any rain for a few months but if we do we’ll cover it and make sure the tap is open
I think in the U.S., we call those spiders "daddy long legs". Don't believe they bite but are creepy. Eeuuww. Marjoram is a very tasty spice. Good to use. Such a lovely place you live. Gorgeous.
Good video!
Is it maybe a Curl Spindle ?
So enjoyed the rain video
guys, we are doing our garden work in parallel with you. it's cool! But we are in Portugal and we are in Kaliningrad)
your rain is making me jealous
Forgot to say I am from Derbyshire England hope the little magpie survives
The rain must be a welcome relief. Your garden looks to be benefitting. Baffling a fire would follow? I don't really know the science; but, they say the oceans are warmer causing a global downpour. We've had more than our share. Smart to put in a water filter system & catch some rain. Your living off grid is a good way to live as the climate changes. Many of us can learn from your channel.
Love to see and hear the rain on the land!
Can't hear you very well, Clarissa. Volume on maximum.
Sorry! I need to remember to talk louder 😅
Here in Indiana, USA we call those spider-like things granddaddy long legs. They are harmless.
Steady work on the land and it’s looking so nice. Great job saving the little bird. So glad that the fire was put out in time. Keep it up guys. Love and be safe!🤗😘🌼🇻🇪
My dog is scared of the thunder your dogs were very calm we had thunder today you should of had a bucket bath lol
