I think the television and everything in it represents the absurdity of society seeing how easily the boy gets sucked in. The band, subliminally, is exposing mainstream society, and how cookie-cutter it is. Which could explain why all of their music videos are so strange. They are an indie group different than all the rest, and all the teenagers dancing in the video are the rebels. Or, the television and all it's "trippyness" is another world different from the simple life in the the living room of this house/video. Then again, I found this group 5 minutes ago after listening impulsively to Halsey and could be overthinking this.
