Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 GMC Acadia, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima HangOut 2 Bike Rack for Trunk Mounts, part number Y02637.We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look here. Starting with the arms, the cradles are moveable, back and forth and side to side as needed, to help out with the installation. It does have an anti-sway cradle that folds out, like so, but also folds inward. It's going to make loading the bikes much easier. How it holds the bikes in place, it's going to have the two rubber straps up at the top here, as well as one off to the side, and that's going to serve as an anti-sway cradle to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth and causing bike to bike contact, or bike to vehicle contact. It does come with the wheel strap, as you see up front here, to ensure that the front tire here, or wheel, doesn't make contact with the actual vehicle itself. And once both bikes are installed, there's a much longer strap that goes around both bikes frames, as well as the bike rack itself, and that's going to help keep everything nice and compressed while you're traveling, to keep it from shifting back and forth as well.Let's go ahead and take the bike off. Start by removing the straps here, and you can see how that unloading is much easier. With it in this position, I'd like to give you a couple quick measurements here.
First off, with it installed as you can see it here, we've added about 25 inches to the rear of the vehicle. Now a nice feature about this bike rack, is the fact that these arms can fold down, for those close quarters situations, such as parking. You pull out the red handles like so, and turn to the side, and then this will fold down very easy, and just snap those back into place like so.Again measuring from the center of the edge of the bumper here, our now outermost point is going to be 10 1/2 inches. So this made quite a bit of difference. How this attaches to the hatch of your Acadia, is there's going to be 6 points of contact. We're going to have two straps up at the top, two to either side just below the tail light, as well as two at the base here. Now with the side and the base, you're going to see they have the traditional hooks, rubber coated hooks, going into there, holding those into place.
Up at the top of it however, we did have to convert the top hooks into anchor points. And to do that, it's a very simple procedure. We have a strap here, like the ones we have up top, you see they have this eyelet in the center. What you do is you take the strap, feed it through like so, and it's going to hang on the inside like this, and pull up from the inside to attach it.Where it makes contact with the vehicle, it's also going to be padded. We're going to have the two pads here, where it makes contact with our rear windshield, as well as two pads where it makes contact with the base. This makes sure that the vehicle itself doesn't get scratched up as well.We do have these dials on the outside as well, and that's how you can adjust it to fit your particular vehicle.
This will fit multiple vehicles, such as SUVs, vans, as well as cars, so just double check your fit guide and make sure that it fits with your other vehicle. And there you have it for the Yakima HangOut 2 Trunk Mount Bike Rack, on our 2017 GMC Acadia. This is our test course. Let's start with the slalom. This shows side to side action, such as turning corners or evasive maneuvering. Then on to our alternating speed bumps. This shows twisting action, such as hitting curbs, potholes, road debris, or uneven pavement. And last of all, the solid speed bumps.
This shows up and down action, such as driving through a parking lot or parking garage, or driving in and out a driveway.
