Hello dear friends! Bad news! One kitten died! The mother cat lay on the kitten and crushed it! I pulled the kitten out from under her but after 15 minutes, the kitten died! I'm so sorry( So sad( Sorry for my little English!
So sorry Robin 😢 mother cat seems very young, she wants to play with her baby, but it is too small. Your video is very good, it shows how helpless baby kittens are. I would bottle feed that last baby if I was near, I think mother cat is young, not bad
You'll have to clip Moms' nails a bit maybe. The other day I noticed that this cats' nursing position seemed too closed up also...poor thing. I took in a Mom cat once who was only 8 months old herself. She belonged to the neighbors and they didn't want her anymore. She had six kittens out in the open in front of my back door. We brought all of them inside but she kept laying down on her kittens so we would take turns staying up with her at night for the first 4 weeks after the kittens were born to keep watch. All turned out well. The kittens were adopted and I still have that Mom cat. Thanks for doing what you do Robin..
the cat and her kitty are beautiful. thank you for taking care of all the furry kids, you are an angel, and there is a special place in heaven for you!
This mother cat is way too young. She's still a kitten herself. I fear she'll end up killing her other kitten. It's not her fault, of course...she's probably too young to have developed a maternal instinct.
Its not. Don't anthropomorphize! It may just be opening its eyes, or it may have some infection... Hopefully not an infection; someone should be watching this kitten like a hawk for fuck's sake.
So sorry to hear the kitten died!! But please, don't separate the kitten from the mom!!! Accidents like this happen very often, especially with inexperienced moms, but she obviously loves the kitten and tries to take care of it by grooming, feeding, and playing with it. I've personally seen many cat moms raise their kittens, and mom cats often play very rough with their kittens: it's how they teach them to fight and hunt. The best thing for the kitten is to be fed and educated by a cat mom. Thank you for taking care of them Robin!!!! ❤
❤️. I saw other two videos about them. She is a very good mama. I also thing it was an accident and in this video she looks as she were looking for the other babie. I feel very sorry about the mama. I wish could embrase her and tell'er everything is gonna be all right. I feel compasión about her!!!
So glad they're doing so well. Thank you, Robin for taking such great care of them. I'm glad they're somewhere that's safe and healthier than those stairs. Great job!
Robin. Sorry to hear about the kitten that died :-( . It was an accident. Now you must concentrate on the Mom & the kitten who is alive. Thanks for giving this family a home and looking after them. You're a good man :-)
Always makes me sad to look at this video because the mother is looking for her lost baby. She doesn't quite understand yet that it is gone, and she still smells it, thinks it is there somewhere. Bless her heart!:) Sad but this is the way of life for animals. She is not playing too rough with her kitten.
Husky273 sigh.. my goodness.. I didn't mean to say it was funny, it just for lighten the mood, ok? Besides, when I said "mama kitten wants to play", I said this to Robin so Robin could play with Mama Kitten and drain a bit of her energy. Have you ever heard advice to play with your cat to drain their energy so they won't destroy things? It's to protect the kitten! The mom is too young and full of energy, she doesn't know she could be dangerous to her own kitten. I just tried to lighten the mood while bringing this topic, sigh..
Heart breaking news about the poor kitten. You've done well by helping them. Think momma is to young and may be her first litter. Prayers for Momma and last baby.
I still don't think she meant to hurt her baby. I don't think she has accepted that the other one is gone. Thank you Robin for taking care of them. My heart is still aching for the mother and her babies. GOD BLESS TO ALL OF YOU.
Hi, if not just normal discharge and persistently weepy eye you might need to get some opthalmic ointment to knock out that possible infection. Bad sign, the eye closes up and pus emanates. Sad to hear the loss of one of the litter. Y'all hang in there.
Medvjed Brundo: That's an Urban myth. Cats bond strongly with the scent of animals it cares about. Most smell dominant animals do. They don't try to kill them just because they smell something unfamiliar on them, to her, the smell of her kitten would always overpower any other scent. And this cat clearly doesn't have any problem with Robin being around her kitten. When cats kill offspring, it's because they think they're too weak to survive, especially if they're having trouble lactating, they'll kill weak offspring to give the stronger ones the best chance at survival. But that's not the case here, if it was, it would have died by mauling, not by sitting on it. The death of the kitten was the result of clumsy inexperience on her part.
There is something wrong with that mother cat, she doesn't act like a mother. i never saw a mother cat play with their kittens like that. Cat seems immature . i wouldn't trust that cat around those kittens.
lineartechbd1600 it's not uncommon for young mothers to act this way, female kittens can get pregnant at the age of 6 months, still being kittens themselves. Nature is harsh.
it seems people don't realize, kittens die a lot! of course it is sad, but it's ray harder to keep a kitten alive than to not. this momma is doing her best. she has done nothing wrong. the playing that she was doing is normal, I've seen it plenty, especially with young moms like this one. she didn't mean to kill the other kitten, it was an unfortunate accident! kittens are SO fragile. please NEVER take a kitten from it's mother, fks is extremely common, not to mention this kitten would a. be FAR too young to be weaned b. surely be rejected by other mothers also, it's eyes are fine, that's how newborn kitten eyes always look -a kitten foster
Absolutely, I don't think most people know that kittens have a very poor survival rate. The mom is not doing anything wrong: playing with the kitten is totally normal behavior. Accidents simply happen, in any species.
Yes but it is also dangerous. I've seen more mature mothers and they do better. Sadly kittens are fragile so more mature mothers are going to be better. She didn't mean to kill her kitten this is very true! Also some mothers are just never optimal caregivers. She may improve or not; once the kitten is older it'll be alright.
Some cat mothers do kill their young though, by biting them to death. Often mothers under 1 year of age. Seen that. So, there are times when kittens should be taken away.
Yes but if the kittens happen to be dying one by one there should be a limit to it. The mom didn't mean too but she should be taught what's too much. The moms thought of the kittens dying is just " Oh no it died " not " Oh no! I crushed the babies! I will never do this again. " You are 100% correct about it being a mistake , the mother cat doing it's job , the fragile structure of kittens , and not taking the kittens away but there are times when you should step in for the sake of it. ( of course only if you know what you're doing )Even animals aren't perfect. I'd also much rather Robin find a solution to the problem than be told " it just happens " so thank you for sharing what you know on what not to dos! every bit of information is helpful.
She is a young mother and careless, a bit. Keep petting her to calm her down because she seems to have lots of energy and does not realize how sensitive the baby is. She thinks it's a toy! Keep petting her! She is a bit frustrated!
Lot of ignorance in the comments. Please don't take the kitten away from it's mother because she's being playful. I'm sure you won't, considering you know what you're doing. :)
+Laputa kittens need their mum or they won't survive unless you bottle feed them around the clock, keep them warm and stimulate them to wee. This is a very demanding job - the kitten will be better with mama.
KJ yeah but I have never seen a mother kitten act so aggressive with the kitten unless it was picking it up by the neck and moving it to another location
Absolutely, please don't separate the kitten from the mom!!! Accidents like this happen very often, especially with inexperienced moms, but she obviously loves the kitten and tries to take care of it by grooming, feeding, and playing with it. Mom cats often play very rough with their kittens: it's how they teach them to fight and hunt. The best thing for the kitten is to be fed and educated by a cat mom.
Sad that this little one has no siblings to fight, play, and cuddle with. His/her development and socialization will be somewhat stunted by that. It seems that mother knows this and is doing her best to be a surrogate sibling by taunting, encouraging and challenging her little one. Edit: So so sad. I also see now, especially at the very beginning, that mama is sadly whimpering while desperately looking for her missing baby because the baby's scent is still there.
Awww that`s so sad. Can`t you put a teddy in the basket for the kitty to snuggle up to? He`s looking for his sibling. If the Mother cat stops licking the kitten, and does not sleep with it to keep it warm, that would be a bad sign.
Is there any way you can put some towels along with a hot water bottle in with the kitten in the cat bed? Kittens need warmth. Seems like the mom tends to play a little bit too hard with her kitten.
She is a furst time mother. Without reading the comments I noticed hiw she was playing with the kitten and thought so. The play is not appropriate for the kittens' age...this Mom cat seems to be little more than a kitten herself.
Your Right! Momma playing with the kitten now is not appropriate for this kitten's age, also momma plays rough and also this kitten is weak and possibly a little sick. If momma is not removed from kitten she will kill it as prey or a toy.

Sorry to hear that one baby is gone. The one that's left is soo adorably cute that face. I think it's because mama is very young her self. The kitten has eye infection maybe the vet can put drops some kittens and adult cat's get that. Easy treatable. Love you're videos. Thank you.
My first time mother cat smothered two of her kittens too 😢 its ok tho because we kept the surviving one and hes almost 6 and thriving. I hope you keep careful watch of this kitten because this mother is clearly a first timer and very playful, and may end up accidently hurting or killing the kitten. Best of luck
I've already seen something like that with some feral cat kitten I decided to host Et take care of... It's called CORIZA. In the its most dangerous formula it makes the cat sneezes and makes it difficult for him to breath and one of his eyes is closed (I lost a kitty in 2013 he gave his last breath in my hand) and in the other form of the disease (the less leathal) the cat only have tears in his eyes.... Note the the second form can evolve into the first deadly one.... And that this is a very contagious disease and deadly if not treated once acquired with special antibiotics or prevented with a Vaccin.. I supposed that the mom is already suffering of the disease but not having the symptoms and yet transmitted it to her kitty during the birth moment... She might have seen that the second one would be to weak to survive by its own so she decided to neutralize him so the second one could have more chance to survive... And I'm pretty sure he will... But he will keep the disease all his life and will have symptoms from time to time during weaknesses period. He will die for sure of CORIZA at the end of his life if not killed by car or due to a fight with other cats... The feral cats really suffer! I pray god to give you Robin splut plenty of benediction for all the things you do for them. God bless you
Dear Robin is not your fault, you always do the best!!..I hope you find a way for this problem,i wish you all the best!..The nature ist stronger as we thinking..all the best, dear Robin,i pray for you!
Not if the mother shows clear signs of being inexperienced and distressed, which often happens with first time mothers who also are very young. Note this one looks pretty young. First time mothers also are at higher chance of either rejecting or killing and eating (if they feel under threat) their kittens. The mom clearly is inexperienced as it crushed the other kitty to death. People have a legit reason to worry. Someone could ask a cat expert on sites like Facebook regarding this though to get a better opinion. The owner of Cole and Marmelade is one i can think of.
This behavior is not strange at all: many cat moms play rough with their kittens. Look again closely: she is tapping it, but not actually injuring it. I have seen many cats give birth and raise their kittens, and accidents can sometimes happen, but the mom cat is teaching her kitten to hunt, fight, as well as to socialize with this behavior, it is not abnormal at all!! Baby kittens need their moms: no human can teach them how to take care of themselves and how to socialize with other cats as well as a mom cat. No kitten formula is as good as a cat's milk. Separating the kitten from the mom is not a good idea, at all. If you have ever seen a mom cat play with her kittens, you know sometimes the kitten will even cry out in protest to being tossed around. But eventually, it begins attacking back stronger. That is what the cat is trying to teach her kitten. Again, all very normal behavior, and I've never seen a kitten being seriously injured by its mom in the process. However, crushing accidents, especially during sleep, sometimes do happen. They are not a reason to separate a kitten from its mom.
An experienced mother cat would not play with her kittens like when they are still at a very fragile, vulnerable age. But this mother cat is already swatting/tapping whatever you call it at it like that already, the strength behind it is really controlled, shows inexperience and its maturity or lack thereof.

And sadest...😢😢
That kitten look sad and crying
Robin, Nice Video Thnx God For Creating a Robin :)
Oh.. so sorry for the mom and all who loved that kitten. Rest in peace 😿
Please put some toys in the room for Mommo Cat. She is still a kitten herself and needs to play.
robin! Watch that kitty safely please. I hope the mama doesnt hurt it... Btw thanks for saving these cute kitties!!
The kitten has something wrong with her right eye?
Richard Poynton Kittens, especially ones living outside, often get eye infections :(
Richard Poynton that is how all kittens look when their eyes open, no worries!!
I'm sure Robin will get drops if there is infection, he has helped other cats before with eye drops. He knows what to do.

Dont listen to them! Its an awful thing to take a kitten away from its mother early
Kalana Maki the mother accidentally killed her other child. Do you want this one killed too?
Pearl the kittens eyes have JUST OPENED. it is too young to be taught to hunt and stuff like that. What are you saying
An experienced mother cat would not play with her kittens like when they are still at a very fragile, vulnerable age. But this mother cat is already swatting/tapping whatever you call it at it like that already, the strength behind it is really controlled, shows inexperience and its maturity or lack thereof.
Awwwww!!!! That little meow!!!
