No it would happen on draft day if it were to happen. 49ers wouldn't trade him for picks and announce to the league that they are in the market to draft a WR. That would give other teams time to leapfrog them and take a player. It would be malpractice to pull the trigger that soon, especially when they ultimately don't want to trade the guy.
