This feels like a Chad video, it’s just that Chad is now Nathan💀
Even the thumbnail lol
Even the thumbnail lol
it's literally that same type of video lol
I like it more than chads vids idk why
he has evolved into Chad overtime
Bruh had that CHAD thumbnail 😂
You did a really good presentation. Playing those lines while recording and being in the presents of the "master" was quite a feat. I am buying the book to support your young life as a musicain. I have always been a bad student but a successful jazz pianist. Somehow I learn the stuff that is necessary but always found it hard to read the notes. What I like about your approach is that, for me, the breaking down of the theory, chords, structures, etc. really help to hear the licks as opposed to trying to memorize the notes. THANKS!
I don't even play saxophone, i play guitar but somehow your videos always keep me inspired to pick up the guitar and play. thanks nathan!
Greatly informative video, but I was worried that Nathan wasn’t gonna show. SO glad to see him in the end!!!
YEAH agree ;)
Congratulations
this is lokey kinda helpful, also you should come down to murfreesboro during jazz fest when it happens next! You’d really enjoy it!

Also sorry - I should have double checked - At 13:55 that is totally not the progression to Autumn Leaves 🤦🏽♂️ But it’s pretty similar and all the information still applies!
Yeah cool. And what a chance to know Chad ❤. Thx for the video
Another great video! I always learn when I watch you and yesterday I was finally able to get altissimo out thanks to your videos!
I practiced this along with your lesson and air flow is so smooth it’s perfect.
Btw: the only way I’d be able to play in front of Chad is if I’m baked. 😅
And you look so relaxed…
What A legend
Thanks a ton Nathan looking forward to using this on my sax!
I love the way you mic’d up your sax, it’s sounds so good
Atta boy Nathan! Congrats on getting your masters man, much deserved!
Yes, awesome. Purchased the book...tnx
Nayland Collier
Your serious approach is most enjoyable. Your videos are always informative and I am getting closer to your soulful sound. My phrasing is improving as I attempt to emulate your sound!
Love this type of stuff. Definitely gonna use this to help me clean off my dusty chops
I like this new style of your video. Really informative and helpful
So much foundational goodness in this video. Thanks man, will pick up your book as well.
Wow the editing is sooo smooth. This channel is really professional now
7:35 I'm a nerd! I even play clarinet, on jazz apparently! Great stuff man, congrats on your masters degree :D
YOU & CHAD ARE
GIANTS
Great stuff. Bravo! I hope you eventually make your lessons into playlists based on difficulty and topic if you haven’t already. It’s very cool for a student to go from Marionart lick to here in a playlist!
Really nicely done mate!
Thanks for the tips. Should help with my soloing 👍
Awesome video.. Thanks guys! I just got the PDF.
You the man
I was wondering why the Prof seemed a little tense. Great reveal at the end.
Damn!!! All these people talking about how to play more melodically!! Hell!! I've been playing sax for over 50 years and have totally forgotten how to read music!! I do everything by ear, and after I'm familiar with the song, I know what I can do sponsors within the structure of the song , spontaneously and kinda like Chicago, Blood,Sweat & Tears, and Earth, Wind &Fire!! Fills, accents, solos, basically coloring the songs!! And 98% of the time, it sounds better than anything that was written to go with the music!!
If this is a peak of ur brain, I really wanna see more. Great video, Nathan!
Brilliant
Listening to this makes me think this could be retitled "Digging Deeper into Desmond" 🎷😎
Being more general is better because Desmond is a turn off for some people ya know
@@DeMariThompson it is so silly and sad some saxophonists shun successful saxophonists. - sheesh
@@bobpremecz5429 Desmond playing is just so lush and warm. He is like what you could use to get classical players into jazz
don't wanna put my lineage up here in the public section ... but ... lol ... sure is a bonus to be able to monetize these platforms today. there were many before with deep knowledge in this area without a platform to share it, let alone monetize worldwide. it's comforting to know that your efforts in learning the language of music, dedicating yourself to the mastership of the craft can actually sustain you as a professional. have heard numerous tales from one of the greatest to ever do it ... of how many of his colleagues and counterparts were super talented and super broke until bald spots and grey hair. this will NOT be you. you are worthy of support and a healthy professional career in this field. kudos. play on. hopefully, bebop can break through and reach the generations present and future. respect saxlogic ... tutorial is super well done!
amazing i hope i get as good as you, i just got my first sax😁
Congrats on finishing your masters degree!
there are some classes that teach how to understand these explanations, about why the notes of the chord. (I know basic music theory)
Did anyone else notice that the first half and second half of the "Autumn Leaves" examples were in two different keys?
nice video (all my solos are terrible)
Congrats on your Masters !! Great video summary of your book. - Going to buy now.
One QUESTION: Your sax strap looks very comfortable - what is brand and where is it available ?
WAit another vid
LESSS GOOO
The goat
Will you be releasing a physical version of the e book?
❤️🔥
do you have any tips on how to get a thicker sound, more resonant and not thin because I'm struggling
“Not all notes are created equal!”
🎷🌭🤯🤪🎷
Bought professor, and thank you for explaining this in a non word salad type of way.
NO AUDIO EXAMPLE FOR THE MELODIC LICKS?
Are you one of the instructors for the Text lessons? I just joined. Now with work I have to juggle a bunch.
You have answered my critique of what I feel is the over analyzation of this very high art form at 8:18. I have achieve a modest degree of success in playing and teaching this music and boy, you have made my head spin with all of this word salad stuff. If I had to think of all of this stuff, I would not have played one note. I would have been completely discombobulated. I have noting against schools and education but I think this is, to put it mildly, a little over the top. I guess this is what many now have to do in order to pay off those student debt loans.
Honestly, I think it’s pretty valid of you to say that. For many, this sort of approach does not resonate. But for some, they are nerds for this sort of thing. I just put stuff out there and let people choose if they want to be receptive to it or not. I try not to stuff anything in anyone’s face.
y@@Saxologic I can totally dig where you are coming from in your reply to my post. Different strokes for different folks is quite applicable for this situation. As one of Barry Harris's earlier student's, I had to rely a lot more on my ears as he taught me his system of the application of half steps off of different intervals within the chordal structure of different tunes. The importance's of Chord substitutions with its theoretical base and why it was so important for a soloist to know about them in become a better improvisor.
What is mouthpiece do you use?
Saw that thumbnail and was like wait…
I want to buy Eb 50 licks e-book.
Great video, as usual! The actual less favourable exchange rate for europeans wasn't enough to stop me from getting the PDF instantly xD I just have one question: what does D-HSR and E-HSR stand for?
D minor Honey Suckle Rose
@@Saxologic Is that the name of the shape?
@@FinnbarrGoesFast its a melody
Did Chad get a hair cut?
Hi bro! What Mouthpiece do you use?
What happened to your MkVI? Nothing wrong with the sounds out of your Yamaha, just curious.
Hi Nathan. What strap is that?
Do you still give out lessons?
I know a while back you bought in Mk 6 so you still using that or do you just prefer the Yamaha?
My sound used to sound kinda airy on my previous saxophone (yas-300ad which I march now), but since I got a mark 7 like a week ago my sound is not as airy, but it’s a lot louder and open. Is that normal? Or should the sound be airy?
What do you like better? That's what it should be, unless you're having problems playing with that sound. Also, sometimes horns give different feedback from each other that doesn't really have much to do with how they sound from in front.
😃
Saxologic, I need advice on how to not have this foggy and inconsistent palm key sounds. In order to fix it I have to pinch hard.
This is brass ligature?
who is this man and what did they do with saxologic
Wait, what's a grip? A four note scale fragment? I haven't heard that term before in this context.
A combination of notes you could fit in one hand on a piano.
@@Saxologic Makes sense, thanks.
notice he always blinks on an eighth note 4:08
Your from Memphis?????
The coupon code does not work!
you might be putting it in the gift card code area
Chad lb thumbnail
Jazz nerd here, why is it called a Lydian "grip"?
Because all the notes fit in one hand on piano
@@Saxologicmany thanks for sharing!

Hey Nate... did you reach out to me for a giveaway?
No, fake account ignore it
I think it will be hard to sell book. You'll need to start teaching..Chad had so much momentum n videos. Keep the hussle going.

Sneaky licc in tha first 9 Seconds
Very disappointed, didn’t open this new book with a knife 🔪 opening 😂😂😂
ngl i thought this was a chad lb parody
Nathan, someone hacked your channel and said I won a mark 6 and a hoodie. I hope it was you as I try and figure out how I can borrow the $133.00 shipping charges. Is it really you or am I being scammed, again?
Yeah I also
That is a fake bot account, I’m working on deleting all of its comments. Ignore it please
@@Saxologic Thank Godddddd!!!!!😭😭
