I'm getting really emotional. I didn't think Grant's style of content would return; it's really great to see the original type of video come back! When the boring clickbait videos started, it felt like the channel owners were disrespecting Grant's legacy, a man I looked up to and hope to emulate. Returning to backyard science and DIY faux-weaponry really takes me back. I can't wait to see where this goes.
We’re both emotional on this one. Bringing back Grant’s legacy is the greatest reward I could ask for out of this journey. I’m glad you appreciate the direction! -Jarom
Loving the TKOR videos lately.. big fan As a master plumber since 99' that's worked with PVC since 1991 I can guarantee you that little drop of primer wasn't going to ruin the seal 😂 there's some of the exact same solvents in the glue. Acetone, tetrahydrofuran, cyclohexanone... The only thing different about the glue is that it also contains pvc resin and silica. Keep up the awesome new videos.. informative and entertaining 👌 TKOR like the old days. 👍 ❤ you guys
Remember children, PVC and compressed air can be dangerous. It is rated for max 120psi however it can explode if there are any cracks, etc that make it weak. PVC also can be degraded by UV light and other condition that can impact its pressure rating. PVC shatters into small pieces and plastic pieces can be difficult to impossible to find on X-rays. There is a reason OSHA doesn't permit PVC to be used for compressed air applications. Not saying you should not do this with PVC, you just need to be aware of the risks and him saying in this video "can hold a lot of pressure safely" can be a bit misleading. Edit: speaking from experience. Made a potato cannon using compressed air and PVC. Only used 60 psi and one day it exploded while pressuring it. Had we been standing next to it instead of a bit away using a regulator to fill it, we could have been seriously hurt.
Exactly use galvanized water pipe ,with its 4mm wall thickness it can hold a burst pressure of500 bar's ,something that you will never reach without pcp air rifle compressor .And even then that poor sprinkler valve will burst way before you ever reach that pressure.
Schedule 80 PVC has a pressure rating of 210 psi to 1230 psi, depending on pipe size, and temperature. At 73°F the pressures are as follows: 2" = 400 psi. 3" = 370 psi Know your material
How nice to see the new generations retracing their fathers' joy in science. I hope one day that my son will also want to dream about my memories. Best regards guys
I must have missed the original but this is awesome. I like how you are revisiting Grant’s past projects and in this case improving upon it. I respect that. About the competition, I think it was a bit one sided but a win is a win. This is just me but I think the loser should run a mile while screaming let the random happen while giving out free merch. Just an idea.
Hey Jarom, very good your taking control as the host for the channel, from my two cents, could you bring back the old logo, unlike the new, dull logo, the old one had character with the crown and caution triangle. It's like logos are becoming too simplified these days. If you could try some b roll shots as well that would be awesome. Have a great day! :D
Grant was one of my first follows when I encountered UA-cam back with his solar scorcher. I have been a dedicated tkor fan from there. When I heard Grant had passed away I was devastated but still a huge fan of the channel. Love everyone there keep making great videos and I will keep watching.
Looks like I'll be turning notifications back on. Seeing this, yeah... it definitely was a tribute to Grant. See if yoy can find other Grant projects that could use a makeover, or luje ge did, invent some randomness!!!! HAIL TO THE KING OF RANDOM!!!
I like the way the channel is now going 🤩. Jarom brings back the old TKOR energy. I've always thought grant as a man who's had some on spot ideas. Like the hairclip crossbow for example. I'm pretty sure that grant saw a hairclip on the dressing table and thought,"why don't I make a crossbow out of it?" Ha Ha. And thus the name 'THE KING OF RANDOM'! And I see the same spirit within you Jarom. So best of luck in your future endeavours!
This was so fun!! I love your guys' energy. Side note, was a 9v battery not strong enough for the switch? It would just be easier to use than a whole power tool battery. Either way, such a cool toy!
The competition is uneven, he set the targets up so that the bullseye is perfectly level with where he holds the cannon while he gets her to agree to shoulder mount the cannon causing her to have to aim down while he only has to keep the cannon level...
That was AWESOME! As far as the winner goes, experience does count IMHO… SO! I vote this to be a draw and both of y’all flip a silver coin for the punishment… Heads: skydive. Tails: a ride in an aerobatic aircraft. Have fun! ❤
Janae has a great charisma and is super funny. 🤩I hope to see her in front of the camera more often! Keep up the good work. 👍 I have subscribed to the channel again.
Suggestion for the loser: The loser has to perform in a mini-talent show. It could be singing/karaoke, dancing, juggling, magic tricks, doing a comedy routine, etc. but it should be something they're not already good at.
I say you both won and both lost... so for Jarom, I'd say make him dress up like a ballerina and for her, make her wear a t rex inflatable for a day. lol
I've heard that ABS piping is usually safer for pneumatics and higher air pressure (between 100 to 500 psi) than PVC, might be something worth while to think about in future projects maybe... I've never tried it myself and I'm by no means at all a professional, but it would be interesting to see some experiments with ABS and PVC gas pressure rating and handling differences!
I made mine with a simple turn valve and half inch barrel. You can shoot glass marbles. You can also cut off an inch of barrel to make a mold for wax slugs.
Does this qualify as a compression cannon? I've checked laws in my country (Namibia) and a combustion cannon (like a potato gun) is illegal. But this does not use an explosive (like alcohol (hairspray, etc.)), so hopefully I can legally build this thing. Looks quite deadly though.
13:32 hmm fun and g-rated how about.. A loser has to run away from the winner (the children too if they are feeling up to it!) whilst being shot at with darts (padded clothes of course and probably Definitely not using the pressurized version 😂) wearing balloons filled with a powder of some kind? 😂 Feel free to add or take away things you want from this 😎👍
that competition thing is already pulling the channel back towards what it was before jarome. just let him do his thing like grant did. just building awesome and sometimes questionable stuff
no safety glasses? no helmet no face shield? do you know the pvc pipe can explode? wrapt it with gorilla tape AT LEAST, and wear safety glasses in case it explodes or ricochets
Finally some content that Grant would actually create if he was still here.
agreed
I remember I was still in middle school when he made the original and begged my mom to take me to Home Depot for the supplies
I imagine ur mom was not expecting you to beg to go to Home Depot of all stores lol.
Same
Did your mom let you go
@@Unpluckablechannel8503le Yup I just had to pay for everything 😂
I actually made it when I was in middle school with my dad
This is the first time in years that I've seen a video from you guys, and the mention of Grant tugged at my heart. God I miss him 🥹
We all miss Grant! What a champion! -Jarom

Depends on the thickness of the PVC backyard scientist got 1" pvc above 1000 psi without rupturing
too bad, I'm using 150psi on mine but my pipe is rated to like 300psi

thanks Jarom, for bringing back these fun project videos; i'm starting to enjoy watching TKOR videos again....
this is the type of stuff we wanted thank you guys quickly becoming my favorite channel again
A great throwback.
Just one word: AMAZING!
I love this channel everyone who has been on it now and in the past!
Very clear and concise instructions.
This episode is like a cross between MythBusters and GMM. Loved it!

Thank you Jarom. Every new video is random. This content will make you a king. Please keep making videos
Ahh that was delightful! Long live the Kingdom of Random 🤟😎
The person who lost has to sing a song from Frozen while eating beans
I like the under arm carriage vs the over the shoulder. Looks more stable
Nice! I made the original one with my son many years ago.
Make sure when messing with batteries and wiring, never let the positive and negative terminals touch. They should always be separated.
This was so fun!! I love your guys' energy.
Side note, was a 9v battery not strong enough for the switch? It would just be easier to use than a whole power tool battery.

Sprinkler valves are meant to run on 24v but 20 is enough. A 9v wouldn’t be enough. -Jarom

Could you go to 1/2" pipe for the barrel instead of the 1" ?

Excellent video. 👍❤️😇
Glad you enjoyed it!
Worth it again, to join this chanel.
Grant raised me a lil bit tbh its hard watching these days and not seeing him
Same he is missed
Red is red Jarom. Give her the win since she hit it first.
Thanks for the vote! 😊

Guys let’s help them bring this channel back!!! LIKE, COMMENT,SUBSCRIBE, AND SHARE TO A FRIEND!
Hey the king of random

This uses high pressure from a pump, not anything explosive or burning, so it shouldn’t be considered a “combustion cannon”.
This would be more like a pneumatic (air) rifle.
Now if she had more practice than Jarom, she'd still be arguing that she was better 😂
Yup… sure would… lol 😂
Id love to see how accurate they are past 12 feet.
"We need to be really, really careful" he said while boring a hole through a cap in his hands
I know this isn't important but aren't all blow guns pneumatic/use compressed air?
Perfect for home defense 😂
Nice
Please sand the pipes. As a plumber, those CAN blow off if you don't.
Will it shoot golf balls?
You might just be the one to save this channel after all those "what happens if..." sadness
Things would never be the same

Jarome for the win 🏆 🙌 🎉😂

Nope, it's real lol! Believe it or not, this is short for Jarom 🤣
Totally natural! -Jarom
His curls are natural and he’s very proud of that
Please wear eye protection next time. Those things can ricochet.
Seriously -- and they did bounce off the target several times!
I bet she's LEFT EYE DOMINANT and doesn't know it. That makes a huge difference on aim.
I think Jarom just had an unfair advantage from testing the thing hundreds of time.
Good thought. I test her next time I remember. She really did well! -Jarom
I think you might be right! How do you figure out which eye is dominant??
I’ll show you. It’s easy easy.
Who's the new guy?
🔥🔥💪💪😎🤟
Boooooo, Come on Janea, at least lose gracefully 😂
That was full of grace… come on! 🎉😂
that competition thing is already pulling the channel back towards what it was before jarome. just let him do his thing like grant did. just building awesome and sometimes questionable stuff
“Sometimes questionable” I like your thought process… -Jarom
You could have just used 3 nine volt batteries. Would have been more compact
You guys shouldn’t even be allowed to touch the OG’s equipment
Bro if anyone can touch Grants equipment it’s his dad.
The chemistry between them... Just saying.
Check local laws. Blowguns are illegal in some places; California is one.
So um ... where is Grace?
