It was indeed. The Star Wars or Jurassic Park of its day. My grandmother was born in the early 1920s and was about twelve years old when it first came out. She watched Kong with me one time when I was a kid. She talked about how scared she was when she saw it on the big screen. She also said that she loved Bruce Cabot, who was considered a heartthrob at the time.
What an absolute monster of a collection! Im truly in awe of how incredible your passion is and how it fuels your talent into these beautiful displays. Thank you so much for sharing this incredible corner of kaiju coolness!
That does not appeal to me much because I like King Kong and am impressed with stop motion artistry but I would not want to display the armature unless it had the hair and skin and looked like Kong in the movie.
Fantastic collection! I can't stop looking at the large bust over your right shoulder, the repro of the giant head they did for the movie! I am in awe! I must share this, I was fortunate enough in 2006 to go to Bob Burn's home in L.A. and got to see in person his original Kong Armature from the 1933 movie! It was a high point of my life and I will never forget it! I had made it to the top of the Empire State Building in 1987 also, so I kinda have lived the Kong experience. I just don't have your memorabilia! What a fantastic room! I appreciate your sharing it!
Thanks so much for your kind response! I just shot my own video of my VERY meager Kong collection, to post later today. I was looking for inspiration when I saw your fantastic room of Kong! I hope you see my video, and that it enhances your Kong experience the way your room did mine! Enjoy and thanks so much! Good luck selling! You have some goldmine pieces there! (I am looking for a decent, inexpensive 76 Kong!) @@legrandzilla
@@LesWalker2023 I have quite a few 76 Kong kit buildups, depends on your budget, but there may be something that would be a fit for you. I will check your YT channel and watch for it!
Your Kong with the fur, at the altar, is exactly how I pictured what the King Kong Escapes Kong could, would, and should have looked like. Just a row of teeth between the upper fangs and WOW what a Kong that would have been.
Yes, I agree it would have been great if the Toho Kongs would have been a bit more like the original, or maybe just a bit better live action depiction of the Hanna-Barbera cartoon it was meant to represent!
Thanks, I am currently selling a lot of my collection. I don't really collect X-Plus figures, only kits, but I do have a Kong Skull Island Deforeal I hope to sell.
@@PrimeofthePrimates I am not selling everything, but what bust do you mean? I have a lot of them. I am not selling any of the large busts right now, I assume you mean one of them?
That is an amazing collection you have. Most all of us Kong lovers would like to have even a couple of those 33 models. I always thought of it as looking for the gorilla of my dreams. Pardon the hokey comment, but its true.
Thanks, well if you are in the market I am selling a lot of my collection off, and I have more now than I did when I made this video. Message me on Facebook if you want to talk more about it,
As posted on the Clubhouse - great work Jon - a beautiful display of cool kits with ultra-high-standard builds. This was REALLY informative - I learned a LOT about the movies - some of which I didn't realise EXISTED! 😲 Sorry about the Pterodactyl beak-break! And (most importantly), because I obviously don't ask often enough 🤪- I'd still love first refusal on that Kong/Rex SD . . . IF you were ever silly enough to decide to sell that. .
I love your collection and your artistry. I love the 1976 Kong poster figure where he's crushing the jet but I couldn't see it very well. Nevertheless it looks just like the poster too bad he doesn't have a foot on the twin towers. But I suppose it would be difficult to attain now days. I served aboard an Aircraft carrier USS GEORGE WASHINGTON CVN 73 and I was a medic in New York on September 11th 2001 and I would fully still want the 76 poster King Kong to be standing on the towers. So I just thought I'd say so sense I was there that day and I noticed you had one.
What’s really interesting about the 1933 film is it was the 1st film to promote another product which happened to be the EMPIRE STATE BUILDING. The building was pretty much vacant at the time and with the extreme success of the movie, the building was made famous and this was because of the genius of MERIAN C COOPER and WILLIS O’ BRIAN who inspired EVERYONE involved in the Film Industry including EIJI TSUBURAYA who would later go on to create GOJIRA 🎉
The 1933 King Kong was the "Epic Star Wars," especially special effects wise, of its time! Beautiful film!
yes indeed!

The 76 Kong is still my favorite. In regards to his look.
New & improved Kong room looks fantastic now!

Fantastic collection! I'm surprised you don't have the Sideshow 1933 Kong Armature replica. It's truly amazing!

i'd be so worried stuff would fall! i've had some expensive items fall from shelves over time, it is heart breaking

@@legrandzilla Many of your 1933 Kongs seem to have the look of what Escapes should have had. The ones with the brown fur and tannish brown skin.
Man, this is a gorgeous collection. I'm a huge King Kong fan 🦍, and I would love to own X Plus King Kong figures. You're a lucky guy 😊.

Great collection. The 1933 KING KONG is my favorite movie of all time. None of the remakes or spinoffs come close.😊
Mine too!

I have a full video on that one, he IS standing on the towers! Check it out :)
@legrandzilla oh man I am so sorry. I'll be sure to go check it out.
2005 Kong will always be my dude! But design wise, I'd say the Joe Devito King Kong is my favorite, with Peter Jackson's being my second.
Though I must say I also love the 2024 design! The perfect blend of man and ape! He kind of looks like a kaiju mangani ape!
What an amazing showcase of Kong goodness! It would probably take 2 hrs to show these.😅I cannot believe I haven't subscribed yet.
Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy it!
This is collecting goals.
Wow this is amazing Brother 👍🏻🇦🇺
Thanks!
Great collection Jon thanks for sharing. You the king of Kong collectibles.
Thanks John! haha :)
This is awesome, great work! Have you built rip off Kongs such as APE , The Mighty Peking Man, Konga? Sort of as honorable mentions lol
Thanks, I do have a Konga kit on order, other than that just the various Kongs and Mighty Joe Young, Son of Kong.

Thats so cool! Are you hyped for godzilla x kong?
I am always glad for more kaiju movies, but hearing a lot of negative reactions to the trailers.
It's a fun popcorn movie and it's doing well in the box office
