Diamond Princess Southeast Asia Cruise Day 3: Port Day - Phuket, Thailand @CurachaGomez

Join us on the third day of our 14-day cruise adventure in Southeast Asia aboard the Diamond Princess. Today is the first Port Day of this journey, and we are going to the beautiful island of Phuket, Thailand. Phuket is a tender port, so our day starts with an exciting ride on a water shuttle to get to our tour bus for the “Highlights of Phuket” tour. The first destination is to the scenic Laem Phromthep, a breathtaking sunset viewing spot is located in southern Phuket and famous for its now iconic lighthouse, which casts light beams that can be seen up to 39km out to sea. Here, we enjoy the views of the Phromthep beach and cape, as well as the unusual but amazing and Elephant Shrine that features hundreds of elephant statues. We then visit the surrounding shops and enjoy refreshing ice cream snack bars. Our next stop is the Wat Chalong Temple (Wat Chaiyathararam), the largest of Phuket's temples, and the most visited. We go inside two of the largest temples in the complex to look at Buddha statues of various sizes. We also go up a few floors in one of the temples to observe the views of the surrounding area. We also visit a traditional Thai-style house to understand their way of life. After the temple, we proceed to Old Town Phuket to enjoy the sights and sounds, as well as look for things to buy in local shops. We even managed to enjoy fresh young coconuts, and take advantage of photo ops highlighting remaining decorations of the Chinese New Year celebrations. Following the excursion, we continue to explore and enjoy the Diamond Princess and its facilities, including a wonderful dinner was at the Pacific Dining room. The evening concludes with an impressive and lively entertainment in the Princess Theater featuring an amazing pop vocalist.
