Thank you for sharing. Very nice review. Your friends the Fowlers
Thank you. This was an interesting trip. I don't think I've ever seen someone build sand castles by moonlight before.
This one brought back some great memories - we loved our time on Galveston Island. We had considered staying at the state park but after seeing this, we'll probably stick to the rv parks. Safe travels!
Once those new sites open up I think the state park will be awesome. Until then, I think you have the right idea.
The campground definitely has room for improvement. We appreciate you sharing the positive aspects along with the negative aspects so we can make an informed decision on whether or not to stay there. It’s super unfortunate that you can’t access the bay from the park, but at least it’s very close to all of the fun tourist attractions in Galveston.
Once this park gets the newly renovated side open, we will rush back out here to try it and re-review this park. I'm sure it will be amazing.
We almost started here a while back. Kind of glad we did not. The Galveston KOA is much more expensive and you are packed in tight, but the extras and bathrooms were awesome. Thank you so much for sharing this. I will know what to do next time we go there. ❤️👍👏 Donovan & Jodi
I can't wait to stay at this park after the renovation is complete, I bet it will be amazing.
Loved seeing this. My parents grew up in the Houston area and spent a lot of time in Galveston. Bet the road had Hurricane/flood damage. We found that St. Andrews State Park had troubles due to hurricanes... think they say 2 years to fix it all too ~ Diana
I'm sure the hurricane has a big part in the condition of this park. Biggest thing I'd like to see is the park having a faster response to getting those roads repaired. I wonder if it was gravel if it would be cheaper and faster to get it fixed.
If you can boondock next time go west towards Surfside (over San Luis Bridge) onto Folletts Island. It’s Brazoria County beach and free to camp up to 14 days. It’s miles and miles of drive on beach. We tent camp there all the time.
We aren't ready to boondock without a generator, yet. So I'm self conscious about how loud the generator is. I typically only stay at Rest areas and walmarts so the big trucks drown out the noise. I also don't have a 4x4, so I'm a little scared of getting stuck on the beach.
Great review David! I wonder if the damages are due to the past hurricanes? I'll have to visit this one next summer.
@@TexasFamilyCamping You the man! Yeah it’s hot out here! I’m working on Goose Island and I got ate up pretty bad with the mosquitoes. Glad you did this park, I’ll wait to do it next year 😊
I really wish the State would spend more money on upgrades for all of the state parks. In every state. Maybe in 2-years.
I'd like a hot dog, -2 years, LOL. Some of our state parks look great, you can tell they got some money. I think that it's more a timing issue than money. They just take too long to finish a project.
Bummer that the park is so out of date but we think we are going to live by the two year rule too 😂😂 Nice review 👍
Weird the bathrooms looked new, but messed up. I like that it's right by the water, but didn't look extremely well laid out to me. Looks like you guys had fun, but there was just too many people there for my liking. Not a fan at all of crowding.
I'd like to go back to a lot of these parks in the off season during the week. I bet I would enjoy it much more.
Thanks for the review. Ginger went there as a kid.
When the new section opens up, we should all head there, cause it will be nice.
