When I was a kid I had two Kenner Stormtroopers. They died a million times each. I had one of each Cobra Viper or trooper or all the variations. For a while I went nuts buying every trooper I could get my hands on. Then I switched to screen accurate amounts. For example, you only actually see a certain amount of Jawas or Sand People etc. Now at 48 with limited space and paying bills, I limit myself to 12 of each 4” scale troops and 6-8 of each 6” troop.

I wish I could afford a bunch of ninjas. It would be cool to display Hayabusa like he's wrecking a bunch of enemy ninjas! Modern Ninja Gaiden has such great enemy designs in it, I'm surprised no one turned it into a full action figure line.

I do it! And when there isn't one, I create one! I have finally gotten what I want for Hydra, AIM, and regular Puttys! I am within 3 of what I want for Hellfire Club Guards. Slowly building my Hand Ninjas. For Thanos Army, I have the Children of Thanos plus Nebula, and then 4 Chitauri, and Star Wars Black Aliens and Stormtroopers. I have about 22 or so now. For Kingpin Organization I give him Jack O'Lantern and Tombstone for his Costume Muscle, then Eric Killmonger mercenary and XCon Luis, then John Wick as his 'Specialist', then again turn to Star Wars Black, Male humans, DJ Canto, Poe, Finn, Han, Lando, Ceremony Luke, and Dryden Voss. They actually work pretty good. I use leftover Female figures including Star Wars Black as the Female Furies! Mandalorians I use as Hi-Tech mercenaries who fight the Avengers. I also think outside the box and recently got a great deal on 10 Overwatch figures that I can use as Upper Level Mercenary team my Street Level heroes can fight. Don't even have to change their names. Although I am calling the cowboy Renegade!
I’ve been looking for clearance Jackals for a while because of how good he looked in your pics. I liked that he even fit the Kamen Rider ones as generic mutant looking bad guys
Love it! I'm partial to odd number mobs myself. I grabbed a case of JLU 3pks which included 2 sets of John Stewart vs 2 Manhunter robots from BBTS back in the day (pretty sure that was my first order with them), and I sold one to recoup the cost a bit, and because I absolutely had to have 3 instead of 4. I nabbed another set when Target stocked them later, for a total of 5. I have 9 of the 2" Jakks Metroids, all snagged from the check out aisles at Walmarts in my area. I alao just bought 2 more Aliens from Target this week to keep my single Alien company. Odd numbers simply look better.
I caught my first dose of the bug with the old Star Trek TNG action figure line. I had almost the entire crew and I felt like making an action scene, all against the Borg. Thing is, with TNG we're talking about a cast of maybe 10 people, and I only had 2 drones (first edition and the reprint). Instead of looking like a cool action scene it felt like an army vs a few stragglers. From then on I knew: never let the forces of good overwhelm the forces of evil... at least for a diorama.
the first intentional army builder i did was recently with the transformers siege line deception brunt. technically he's not a troop but he is such a basic bot and "unknown" guy that he looked the part. i did three as four looked too odd believe it or not. three seemed like a good "patrol" for a lieutenant deception like sinister to lead. looks great on display.
To me I think for marvel legends army building I love the A.I.M. beehives and the marvel studio Hydra soldier. For Star wars ....just about every clone and stormtrooper variant although for the variants I usually do at least 2 or 3.
Know want to get a few more Shocker Combatmen. The normal, the all black, and if can find some Gel-Shocker. I do wish some of the other minion types would be made for Tokatsu. Some blame goes to SHT, Gokaiger and the flying Ghost ship, and Fourze/Wizard Movie (the yummy from OOO and the other rider villain minions in mass would fun.)

Cool, see why you go for 3,5,7,or 9. I also like The Shield Agents and any an all Clone Troopers.
