    Clearly, Alison's husband thought she was a double agent working to undermine the Civil Rights movement after she called that copy off him with her powers. I thought that was super obvious.

      It was, it was pretty explicitly said (outside the salon, like that other commentor said). He thought she was with the cops 😭 man oh man that scene made me sad

      I think if you're not American you miss a bit of just how tense it was between black people and the police at the time so he probably doesn't realize how high the stakes were

    i thought Ray was mad at Allison because in his mind this random girl comes here out of nowhere with the perfect story to fit in, basically her being attacked by white men so she can seem like one of them. Then all of a sudden cops are listening to her, so its a little suspicious on her part. And makes her seem like a spy.

    a man who commited his life to civil rights being wary when his wife seemingly joined the war on racism, on the side of racism, made perfect sense to me. ray had already been targeted by the police as the leader of the movement so allison being a plant isn't that bizarre of a concept

    I never like amnesia plotlines, but I think in this case it was a good way for viktor to be able to learn more about his powers without being a depressed puddle on the floor out of guilt for causing the apocalypse in season 1. As much as I don’t like amnesia plots in media, it was ok in this case. I get it, but it would have been better if memories came back after a few episodes.

    THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING THE HUSBAND like he’s kind of obnoxious and he gets drunk at the strip club but he doesn’t even do anything that bad when he’s there besides annoy jack ruby?? like he was homophobic in 1960s texas, that’s bad but i’m not surprised by that. and him threatening to institutionalize harlan is again bad but once again it’s the 1960s and they don’t even know what autism *is* like ofc he was gonna make the poor choice to bring him there after he starts having meltdowns and seizures

    The Swedish guys were a downgrade / miss for me in the second season. I didn't find them as menacing as I think they were ment to be. I liked the concept of crazy, sibling-spy-assassins but as a Swedish person, their accents broke the illusion for me so hard (lol/rip). They looked and sounded more like a very weird German satire steriotype with their looks and the way that they talked. I think it would have been better to either cast Swedish actors that could speak the language accurate (even though everyone that isn't Swedish wouldn't know the difference), OR if they would have kept their nationalities ambitious to northern Europe, so it wouldn't have been as easy to identify how inaccurate the language portrail was. I know that this is small potatoes for the masses but when Hollywood messes with things that is cultural to you, it's gonna bug you 😅

      Actually both Norwegians and Danes (like myself) are able to understand Swedish. That being said I understood nothing they said in Swedish as it was mooostly sort of gibberish tbh.

    • @Kelps_K
      @Kelps_K 5 місяців тому +1

      @@avafelkster1392 I know that Norwegians and Danes understand Swedish but we don't understand you though 😅 That's the funny / ironic part and a joke among Swedish people. We can understand Norwegian if you speak slowly and repeat yourself, but Danish is so far out of the question. At that point I switch to English if I'm speaking to a Danish person.

      I feel you. I'm Dutch and most times actors don't even bother attempting our accent. All of northern Europe apparently equals a vaguely German sound 😂

      i genuinely don't understand this thing with netflix (and other film makers) when they take non-native speakers for such roles( or at least the ones who speak the language well enough). cus im a native russian speaker and as u know there are a LOOOOT of russians in american movies, and never have i ever heard a normal russian language in them. in TUA, for example, the scene were viktor was born sounded really bad and i didn't understand a thing the coach said, although she's supposed to speak russian as well as viktor's mum (who also can't speak it normally). it bugs me so much! i'm sure there are plenty of native speakers in the USA who they could've taken for the scene

    I adore the opening to season 2. The opening number showing each of the siblings' arrival, followed by the battle with the soviets was fantastic. The only thing that didn't quite work was that all of them had peak use of their powers at that point, but it's hard to imagine how they would have arrived at that level of proficiency with the course they were on.

  • @Flipitmixit

    They were still in the same linear timeline at the end of this season they just changed the present because they introduced themselves to Hargreeves in the past

    I completely agree with your thoughts on Carl. What did he really do that deserved him getting cheated on? I didn't feel for Vanya and Sissy in that plotline at all.
    Even though i did like Vanya in this season but I agree on your thoughts on the amnesia. It was a cheap lazy way not to focus on the consequences of what Vanya did at the end of season 1.

    Thank you for pointing out that they never address Victor's S1 actions. The amnesia story was really what made me drop out of the show emotionally, because it showed me the show was really unwilling to address the actions of the characters going forward. Alison has been the only one of the siblings who actually seems to carry on any sort of characterization/changes from the season before in S3.

    "I can get behind being shocked that your wife may be going for a suspected spy" and "I can't believe he got mad that his wife may have been a spy, and abandoned her" in the same video is hilarious.
    tbf I do agree on the second one since I imagine his first priority would be "let's get out of here to safety" THEN some questions later, but TUA is notorious for blowing things out of proportion (season four Luther being met with disgust when he has a hairy body, but in season one a similar crowd don't care for example)

    It's been so long since I watch UA that it's all so vague in my head. I remember really liking parts of season 1, really liking season 2, and just not feeling the urge to watch season 3 for some reason. It was a bit of a turn off seeing Ben's picture where 5's used to be. Afterall 5's pic was up because he disappeared (right?) but Ben was clearly there so it didn't make sense. And that's it lol. S3 came out, heard they handled the trans storyline really well so good on the show for that, and I just lost interest in the show by that point lol.

    It was baffling on why Ray was angry with Allison for telling the cop to not hurt him

    • @saramcnick7022
      @saramcnick7022 5 місяців тому +20

      It wasn't because she told the cop not to hurt him, it was that the cop listened to her. He thought that must mean she was working with the police as a mole in the civil rights movement, and that was the reason the cop obeyed her. He thought she betrayed him and was using her influence as a mole, not a superhero.

    • @carpevinum8645

      Seconding above. It had been established, and is true to history, that the police didn't listen and were prejudiced to African Americans (and other minorities) and wouldn't typically have responded to a simple plea - as they don't for the rest of the show, even in that scene.

    Alison's plotline irritated me the most. Everyone else gets to find themselves in interesting and creative ways and Alison gets to... be called slurs for 3 years :/ She has no voice during the Civil Rights Movement and a husband. That's it. Groundbreaking.

    Here's my hot take. I think the going to the 60's plot was a poor choice. It completly diverted the character driven story of season 1 to this meandering in a different decade for the sake of it. A what if these characters where in the 60's and where would they fall in the context of that decade, type thing. Felt like a fanficky AU (alternative universe) distraction of sorts. Its especially a bad choice since the ending of season 1 suggests they'd go back to when they were kids and Ben could've possibly avoided death that time around. It did seem like he'd be alive from what that ending implied.

    • @TristanTML09

      I couldn’t disagree more. Season two was peak writing, action, plot lines, character development, comedy, and everything for the show. At least imo

    • @danieldsantiagorodriguez4955
      @danieldsantiagorodriguez4955 5 місяців тому +2

      @@TristanTML09 We'll agree to disagree, I feel like season 1 wasted no time whatsoever in what it wanted to say and portray while still making space for comedy. I was pleasantly surprised rewatching it and in awe of just how much of what I remember loving from the show is from Season 1. Season 2 does have good in it, it's just that to me it wastes too much time on the whole "we're in the 60's ya'll" aspect of it for too long. It felt like a quirky side plot was the plot.

      I think that they did handle the civil rights arc well, but I agree it did seem to take up more focus than it should have. But I did like how they handled it based on how much time it got if that makes sense

      I agree. It really felt like a fan fic idea with the 60s.
      Seeing them all back in time as kids with Ben alive and now having to learn to live normal lives would have been interesting.
