And the true, honest feelings. Dignity, fearfulness. Where are these values now? To believe in a human being's honesty because you love her sister. And she was honest. You risk your friendships, your job as a soldier. Because you are in love.Shakespeare...
I last saw this movie in the 90s, yesterday I found it on Amazon Prime Video (Germany) and I could still remember this tune even though I haven't heard it in over 20 years.
So beautiful... something about the harmony being on the other side of the fountain touches me.. must have been such a treat to have been sitting between this... the whole scene is brilliant.. it's art.
Excellent rendition of the Shakespeare song. This is how I imagine the song to be when performed in Shakespeare’s day. Very different to modern music, but sweet to the ears of those willing to let the Muses work on their soul.
Sigh no more, ladies, sigh nor more; Men were deceivers ever; One foot in sea and one on shore, To one thing constant never; Then sigh not so, But let them go, And be you blithe and bonny; Converting all your sounds of woe Into. Hey nonny, nonny. Sing no more ditties, sing no mo, Or dumps so dull and heavy; The fraud of men was ever so, Since summer first was leavy. Then sigh not so, But let them go, And be you blithe and bonny, Converting all your sounds of woe Into. Hey, nonny, nonny.
XD i couldnt stop laughing when benedick was going to walk away and then suddely shouted OH GOD HERE COME'S BEATRICE...probably because of his personality lol
Women are exactly the same like men, this is a sexist song in the manner of the previous generations. Shakespeare will die with all the sexists, just like all the racist founders of USA will have to die
Toujours aussi romantique...quiétude et harmonie dans les voix et l'atmosphère. Ma scène préférée dans "Beaucoup de bruit pour rien." My favourite scene of "Much do About Nothing". Very elegant and so romantic ! Thank you for sharing. ^_^
If you could live at the beautiful estate where this was filmed, would you ever leave?! I would have my mail forwarded, send for my dog and call my boss and say "I quit!" And then I would learn how to grow olives and lose myself during the day in that maze garden with a comfortable chair and my favorite book and a cold glass of cold lemonade. haha
Did you know that Stanley Silverman, the guy who composed the song for this movie, is also the lead singer? He's standing next to the Friar playing the guitar. What talent!
That's Patrick Doyle. I'm sorry, but that is an inexcusable offense to mistake Patrick Doyle, the Avatar (incarnation) of Apollo himself, for some other mortal composer! IT IS BLASPHEMY TO COMMIT SUCH AND EGREGIOUS CRIME!!!!!!! So in the future, remember if Branagh Directed it, the music was probably by Doyle
That the song continues in popularity is testament to, I think, it's lustrous melody but also to the age-old fact that men tend to be unfaithful and that women must overcome by blithely going forward.

@akovia LOL. You say that now when you're under pressure... but the day will come when you can watch this, and suddenly you find you love it. Silly English classes... ruining the experience.
Rachael Christensen yup although supposed to be set in Messina in Sicily, the film location was in Tuscany and you can actually go to the villa since it is a hotel
I think of this as an alternative lifetime of neil perry who finished school and became an actor that gets to play many many shakespearean roles and I will brush this image over the dps story until the very end

This is hands down my favorite of Shakespeare's play and the best movie adaptaion. I could go on all day!
I could watch it over and over in the same day and not be sick of it, truly. It is a masterpiece. the cinematography is NOTHING to sneeze at.
The David Tennant and Catherine Tate play version is very good too.
@@selinesbeau I'll have to check it out.
@@RowanWiccae I hear you! Total masterpiece!
Most definitely!
this song is one of the most beautiful parts of this film, thank you so much for satisfying my cravings for it

And a round of applause for the cinematographer who can do a full 360 degree shot without any break!
Not only that but ending at the right time. Lovely camera work and beautiful song
This plus the ending take are my favorite shots in the whole film.
Thank you too :) it´s a pleasure to find people who feels the same about this epic scene
this song is one of those you won't forget, if once heard. One of my favourite films...
Can never get tired of listening. So romantic. Remembering watching at the cinema. Thanks for sharing.😊
Captures something that I can't quite put words to, an atmosphere that I have enjoyed not only in my readings of Shakespeare but of Cervantes as well.
So beautiful... something about the harmony being on the other side of the fountain touches me.. must have been such a treat to have been sitting between this... the whole scene is brilliant.. it's art.

amen
This song is literally the tale as old as time. We are still saying and singing the equivalent of this today
I frickin love this song, and this movie is awesome. Kenneth was great.
Ravishing in every respect! Like a smooth healing caress for the soul.
This is the best adaptation of the play ever! Look at the camera work! They were able to film this in one long take!
I absolutely love this movie. I've watched it so many times over the years ...
How about some appreciation for the singer. Gosh, he's got a great voices, and a fantastic falsetto.
Is that not Patrick Doyle the soundtrack composer?
@@valeriepark9444 It is!

A good piece indeed,in a perfect scene.Powerful cast!

Still enjoying this song in 2022. I love this film and this scene.
this movie will live in me for ever.thanx for the vid
Ironically the song is all about how men suck and they're all like "Tis a good song!"
the ironc thing is that you just helped me with a first question of some english homework
I love the fact it's men singing it and not women. "Yes girls, we are the worst" 😄

Patrick Doyle was the composer and singer I believe - he also composed the score for Henry V - check Non Nobis Dominum - wonderful!

i was ethernally searching for the word to describe this movie, and you've got it- utopian!
Beautiful!
Is it not strange that sheep's guts should hale souls out of men's bodies?
The plucking of the lute strings, being made of guts, makes music that stirs emotions. Even in the strongest of men.
totally love this song :'D

The bickering between Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson is a bit much, but otherwise this is a superb film, and this lovely scene is my favorite.
