The Pro has two different FOV options in 4k, Full FOV (28mm), and HQ which is a 4k center crop of the 20MP sensor. Can you tell me what the equivalent mm would be in the HQ mode? In practice these 2 different modes seem to offer some of the same "zoom" range as the zoom version. I also wonder if in 1080p mode you also get 1:1 crop options and what the mm equivalent FOV would be? Also interested in the quality of the 2.7K60p, does this maintain the 100Mbps bitrate as 4k?
Good question. Apparently the HQ crop is about 1.6x which means a 45mm equivalent. Then you basically have the same "zoom" range on the Pro model. And even with the cropped HQ mode you're still getting a bigger sensor size than the zoom version.
Thank you for the info! Can you confirm whether all the 10 bit recording modes are available in the Full FOV and the HQ 4k modes? If 10 bit is not available in the Full FOV mode, then we really aren't getting the full benefit of the 1" sensor's dynamic/color range.
So do I hear you correctly, there is a remote for either of the MP2's with an included screen ( like the Obsidian) !!! didnt see anything on the website or on the aug. 23rd youtube release video????
Excellent review! Yes, the Zoom has a smaller sensor which tends to make it lose to MP2 for most buyers. But, as you stated in this video, 28 mm is a very limited focal length. To me it is not quite a true wide angle. It feels like your stuck in between a wide angle lens and a normal lens. Also, DJI has compromised the 1" sensor of the MP2 because of over heating. The sensor is not being used at it's full potential.
Four videos in two days? That's a lot of work! I do a video every 'SIX MONTHS" Good reviews. I have seen a few reviews and most people want to see: The view from the drone while in action. Cool videos.
Haha thank you! Yes it’s hard work but we do this full time and this release is a big deal! We will be posting more videos with actual real world footage soon
it worked :D i tried to be mean to get a detailed response from you :) although i watched all reviews no one speaks about this and i'm really interested to buy the drone with that controller ..sorry for that ..great review !
Silviu Craciun others have been talking about it but still no info. Sounds like DJI didn’t want to hype us up before a release again or maybe this is the reason for the delay. 🤔
Great review, I use my MP to scout out wildlife and to shoot cool videos and aerial photos. Not sure what One I'd like best, tough choice. Love the sensors all around, great plus over my MP . Not that I rely on mine but there good to have .
I'm an expert R/C pilot and fly in what I consider close proximity to obstacles with only lightly sweaty palms. I can't wait to get my M2Pro and fly it into the sea caves and redwood forests and among the trestles of wooden bridges etc. hereabouts, places that are just way too sketchy to consider with unassisted manual flight. One of the first things I want to play with is the addition of omindirectional lighting of some sort to allow flight into dark spaces. The "up" sensor is IR, so it will be fine in the dark, I think. So a little pod velcroed to the belly, containing a small battery and wrapped with ultra-bright LEDs on tape might do the trick. Or maybe even the ultra-bright chemical lights. This has some obvious SAR implications too. Whatever the case, this is going to be fun!
Excellent video, Dave! I bet you and Connor were biting your tongues having to keep this quiet for a month. They are both awesome, although I tend to favor the updates available on the Pro 2. Keep up the great work. You guys rock!!!
Thanks Chris! Oh man yes it was tough keeping it from you guys but worth the wait. We’re glad it’s out now so we can continue learning more and doing more reviews with it
Thanks! I am very much interested in how does M2P 10bit 100mbps h.265 compare to P4P 8bit 100mbps h.265 - more color gradations with same bitrate might have some nuances! Also M2P has the same camera but with Hasselblad tuning and color science - I wonder if that reflects on RAW still files as well as the difference in D-Log rendition in the same conditions. Basically all of the things anyone having P4P and looking for a change is interested in :D also a thing that might be little hard to test and circumstantial - how stable they are in windy conditions when flying close to the ground so every gitter is visible! I'm sure you're working on a test of your own but if you could also incorporate any of these points it would've been great (=
The footage from the mavic *zoom is better than the pro version. It is sharper and looks better. Hasselblad is a gimmick. The 1 inch camera in the phantom 4 pro looks better than the one on the mavic 2 pro.*
Yep, I’ve had the P4P+ for 2 years & only difference here is a new color profile. Hasselblad made the body probably, like their cameras. But they’ve always used Sony sensors and Fuji glass.
telling me to subscribe, whatever everybody does that telling me to enable notifications FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU thanks for good vid though
You’d be really surprised how much that makes a difference. I’ve done tests and we get about 25% more subscribers when we ask for it like that. I know it’s annoying but it’s a real actual strategy for youtubers.
Ah not really... They have a lot functionality built around making photos. Hasselblad are primarily for photographers also. Unfortunately most youtubers know nothing about photography and thus only talk about the specs. If you can make a video about it, you'll be the only one to cover it. Share your raw files as well.
Right, and I don't think this reviewer understands still photography at all. I can't help until I get my M2Pro, but I think the choice between the two new M's is obviously the Pro with its 20Mb/1-inch sensor, if stills are the main concern, as they are for me. The 2X optical zoom of the Zoom is great for video effects, I suppose, but every single drone ever made has a huge built-in lossless zoom system that works wonderfully for stills, called "propellers."
Getting closer is not the same as using a zoom and compressing objects that are far away from each other. Its really not the same thing. If you want to make that mountain in the background look larger than your subject in the foreground - you use a zoom. This is the main reason we, as photographers, use telephoto lenses. Also, I am actually leaning towards the zoom version simply and only because of the super resolution photo functionality which allows you to generate massive 48 mega pixel photos. So far the samples are pretty incredible - However, my concern now is how fast can the drone make these pictures? If im shooting large crowds am I gonna see random cut off legs and arms everywhere.... Again, to my frustration, NO ONE has reviewed this functionality.
You lost me when you snidely skipped past still photography as though it's some sort of fringe activity with a drone. There are many, many of us who consider video to be entirely recreational and gimmicky and have little use for it, and whose interest is heavily focused on still photos. Also, you might stop referring to focal length as field-of-view.
We can do a photography based review for you. Sorry you’re so hurt by that. No denying that these are cinema first then photography second drones though.
can you upload a 4K file and DNG file to dropbox and link ?
great idea!
DJI is having an amazing deal for the DJI Mavic 2 right now: sites.google.com/site/mavic2deal/

The10 bit mode is only for the HQ mode. Lame, I know.
guys, can you confirm if the 10 bit mode is only in the 4k HQ setting, which is cropped in compared to the 4k Full fov?
Confirmed. Only 4K hq mofe
Kinotika well crap.
Thanks!
Such a bummer. But I'm still pumped to do some side-by-sides with my current Mavic Pro.
Sweet. Can we charge the new Mavic 2 batteries using the Chargers from the original?
Anyway to add ND filters so the shutter isn't so extreme on either model?
Wait.. What is the other controller that you're talking about with the built in 5.5 inch display? They didn't mention that at all!
I asked DJI support and they say there is a 5.5 inch built in screen version for the controller, but they don't have a release date yet.
@kinotika Im searching for your "comparison video that you mentioned at the end of the video, but I'm not finding it. Please provide link. Thanks!
Hey Jay! We haven’t finished the video yet but wanted to plug it for future viewers! We will have it up next week 🤙
is it out yet?
So do I hear you correctly, there is a remote for either of the MP2's with an included screen ( like the Obsidian) !!! didnt see anything on the website or on the aug. 23rd youtube release video????
The paper that DJI gave us said that would exist...but maybe they decided to not make it. We don't know!
Are they both almost equally sharp at F2.8 or 4 (3.8 ZOOM)?
Love it dude! Excited for mine to arrive. I ordered both...
I ordered the Zoom and then I ordered the Pro. I got a refund on the Zoom and the Pro shipped already. But know I want the Zoom.........
Both is the way to go for sure! Can’t wait to hear your thought Levi!
Excellent review! Yes, the Zoom has a smaller sensor which tends to make it lose to MP2 for most buyers. But, as you stated in this video, 28 mm is a very limited focal length. I can't find any information about a mavic Pro 2 controller having a built-in 5.5" display..?
This channel is so underrated
Nice review! Do you know if the SuperRes 48mp is available in Mavic Zoom panorama mode?
Same sensor as Mavic Pro 1, but 100mbps & H.265 & a better lens should still be pretty a significant increase in quality right?
Four videos in two days? That's a lot of work! I do a video every 'SIX MONTHS"
Good reviews. I have seen a few reviews and most people want to see:
The view from the drone while in action. Cool videos.
Haha thank you! Yes it’s hard work but we do this full time and this release is a big deal! We will be posting more videos with actual real world footage soon
Exactly the video I was looking for!
Thank you Fluke!! Hang in there for the comparison. We will have that out tomorrow .
wait.... there's an optional controller with a built in display?!?
i think he lies ..i've searched online and there is no info about that !
That’s according to the paperwork I was given by DJI. Maybe they changed this? Idk
it worked :D i tried to be mean to get a detailed response from you :) although i watched all reviews no one speaks about this and i'm really interested to buy the drone with that controller ..sorry for that ..great review !

Can we change the camera between this two version in the future?
PLZ do a comparison between the phantom 4 pro and the mavic pro 2! I think this will be something a lot of people are considering buying
Excellent video, Dave! I bet you and Connor were biting your tongues having to keep this quiet for a month. They are both awesome, although I tend to favor the updates available on the Pro 2. Keep up the great work. You guys rock!!!

you havent shown any graded footage though? it still looks like a go pro imo?
Everything in this video was shot in LOG and color graded...but not to look "cinematic".
oh did you use the generic gopro lut instead?
When will the new controller be released??
You can get the Mavic 2 with a really good deal in the DJI Store: sites.google.com/site/mavic2deal/
Great video, subscribed! I wonder how M2P compares to P4P?
We will do a review of that if you’d like!
This is what we need!
Thanks! I am very much interested in how does M2P 10bit 100mbps h.265 compare to P4P 8bit 100mbps h.265 - more color gradations with same bitrate might have some nuances! Where is everyone getting the information about the second version of the controller with a screen?
Dji gave us a paper with that information before it came out. But I’m not sure if it’s true anymore.
That makes a lot of sense. I kept hearing it but saw nothing in the official release. I’ll keep my fingers crossed🤞
Realy Mavic2 ZOOM has absolutely same sensor as old Mavic pro?
Have you seen the remote with built on screen? Would love that option but dji says they have no info
I would love to see that. But I don't know anything about it and DJI didn't show us any photos of it.
Kinotika my mistake. I could have swore you mentioned it in your review but said you didn’t have it YET
Bought the Pro but having second thoughts between the Zoom! Ahhh lol
Hassleblad versus the existing sensor, can't believe anyone would buy the Zoom. Hassleblad? 1"? Yes please!
They don’t support crystalsky yet. I called yesterday and they didn’t give me a time frame.
where is the comparison video?
Putting it up tomorrow! We got overworked this week and had to delay it
So awesome! Love those quiet blades 😂
Duuuuude!! You know we got those quiet blades for days
1 Billy!
Let it rain baby 🤑
yeah 10 bit... but what about fps in 4k?
I knowwww. Bummer really. Honestly, I shot a lot at 30fps and slowed that down to 24fps. It wasn’t that bad
Does it still have the tap to focus?
Yup!
Damn, on both versions?
Ya! Is that something that’s good or bad?
I didn’t really care for it. I just don’t have a use for it and there’d be times I’d forget to focus because I was used to phantoms
Probably the coolest review I've ever seen! 😂😂Love the sense of humor
Awe thank you! Im so glad you enjoyed it haha
Dang those are some quiet blades
There’s only one good choice. BUY THEM BOTH!!!
Great video. Thanks.
how much better is low light of the Hasselblad?
It’s quite better indeed. We will do a low light yest
4X's optical zoom no?
2x optical zoom
Where’s your comparison video?
We are working on it....bare with us! We had to do four videos in two days! :P
May not be accurate. A larger sensor should be much better for low light conditions.
@@Mishk they should of kept the resolution 12megaxpixels 1 inch senor then the pixel pitch will be even larger.
Mavic 2 zoom has the same sensor like mavic 1 pro and.... mavic air :) Is it true that quality in mavic air is quite ok nowadays ?
Thoroughly covered this! BTW, DJI bought Hasselblad with all the tax money they don’t pay.
Hahaha! Good point!
Oh stfu, sounds like you drink the MAGA koolaide
Companies here in the us don't pay taxes either... Apple pays zero, General Electric pays zero, amazon pays zero...
nice mavic pro2 look 👇
ua-cam.com/video/MxTe9-vBPRk/v-deo.html
27 to 31 minutes, I was waiting for an 8 hour battery back up
Great video thanks
Focus peaking?
yup!
But...how was Rock Island?! 🤪
It was great 😄
i dont know wich one to buy -.-
G'day mate I just subbed & hit the bell. Great video my new friend. Cheers Spike Western Australia
want side by side comparison of 10 bit vs 8 bit.
Heyooo!!! 😆
Suggest me which is the best ?
telling me to subscribe, whatever everybody does that
telling me to enable notifications FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
thanks for good vid though

E excelente produto faz a doação de um pra mim... Cara não consigo comprar devido ao alto custo...😭😭😭😭
take phot which i think you could do? this guy thinks people don’t use these drone for photography?
I think is better the mavic 2 zoom then mavic 2 pro in the video quality
Yo I heard that Connor edits videos with Windows movie Maker
its so frustrating nobody is talking about still photography with these things ARGH
We can do a video about that for you...but I mean..they are cinema drones.
Ah not really... They have a lot functionality built around making photos. Hasselblad are primarily for photographers also. HDMI out would be nice..
I guess that’s what differentiates Mavic with phantom series
Hola
like subbed
