I have this setup. I can sit out in the FL summer no problem, and there is a wetland patch right behind my house. No mosquito bites get through. Also not too warm. Good for Florida outdoors.

Like most things, cost should relate to how often you’re going to use something. If you’re going to need it often, it’s a reasonable price, if you’re going to use it once or twice a year, it’s expensive. Living here on the edge of a cedar swamp, makes it more reasonable. Thanks for sharing the product and opinion. Be well guys.

That’s definitely a great point. I think Robbie will be shooting in it and working outside all summer in it, too!

I’ve worn these for months and can say: they drastically reduce the number of ticks I am pulling off my body during tick-check. Another quality product from a quality brand.

I have a sitka outfit. Its decent stuff and you pay for it. Though other companies are catching up. Bought an outfit, jacket and pants, for 100 bucks from niew view to just to use as a beater and to thrash on while out scouting. Took them thru some of the worst stuff in the pnw. Suprisingly their holding up great! Shocked the heck out of me! Made in china (yeh, yeh i know) so didnt expect much, but thats why i bought them, so i didnt destroy my expensive sitka gear, but their still waterproof and not coming apart. When i bought them i didnt think they'd last me a season. That was 5 seasons ago. Its my go to if i get into a dark vegetation, or heavy forested area and they blend in great. If you buy any of the top named brands they should last a long time, though if they dont start making them cheaper in price the new american companys coming up will start passing them in sales. No reason to spend 600+ on a jacket when you can spend considerably less somewhere else and get the same quality. Btw great review as always.

Can you wear the hood without using the face mask? I’m thinking about buying a solid color to wear during summer and don’t need the facemask. Thanks!

I think I watched this clip before I bought this gear. (not the gloves) during Sitka's Black Friday sale.
I hunt Florida. And the Mosquitos will carry you away. Hunted all bow ,muzzleloader and rifle season . A couple weeks of Turkey till I filled my tags.. Maybe 60 days of wear, 5 washings. (you don't get too dirty in a tree stand).IIRC some days were 95+ degrees and humid and sunny. I was quite comfortable
I love this stuff! It seems to keep fire ants and bees off also. The shirt is thin, cool, quiet and sun protective.
I did poke a hole in the shirt while rolling under barb wire ; the pants are thicker and a little warmer.
I give the shirt 5/5 ; the pants 3.5/5 because of no back pocket and could be thinner-and maybe a little noisy.
I will buy 1 or 2 more shirts in solid hiking colors when next they go on sale.
    Maybe not the pants.

Can you wear the hood without wearing the facemask? I want some in solid colors to wear fishing or to ballgames in the summer and want to use the hood without wearing facemask

@@RyanPowell-o3p I hiked about 14 miles of The Florida Trail this past weekend. Heat index got to as high 111.. or so. I started out before sunrise so it was buggy. After a while the bugs went away and i pulled the mask down . I can tell you that YES you can use the hoody without the mask, no problem at all. You can also use the hood without a ball cap.. but its hard.
If you are looking for a bugproof hot weather hoody without a mask Forloh sells them from time to time. A little cheaper and are bugproof and cool , but not always in stock.

Or you just want to go to the shield website and send your clothes in yourself for a fraction of the price and have them permanently treated you could do that.

    • @ReviewThisThing

Have you done that?!? I saw that and have definitely thought about it.

    • @MrChiumiento
      @MrChiumiento 2 дні тому

@@ReviewThisThing I have not done it. From the information I could find the so called permanent treatment does not work. Look it up, after the first wash ticks walked all over the clothes with no issues. So I have elected to treat my clothes myself for pennies.
I create my own permethrin mixture from 10% buy doing this and diluting it down to the normal 1% I am able to save myself a decent amount of money.
