What is your opinion on the new Dyson headphones ?? Great for cleaning up a mix? Just joking ... I will check out your channel, now we have automatic translated subtitles on UA-cam . Thanks for the interview !
Thanks for sharing! Just got Deres after checking it and hearing your input. I do have a question for you. I have the RME ADI 2 DAC. i’ve been exploring the toppings DX7 pro and attempting to discover sonic differences between the two, if any significant enough exists. What do you guys think?
Emrah Çelik is a big-hearted teacher who, without expecting anything in return, awakens, shakes, and empowers young people in an economically disadvantaged country, helping them reach global standards. We are incredibly fortunate to have crossed paths with such a person. Now, the world is discovering this genius. I am both proud and a little jealous. With love. A wonderful podcast, thank you.
I've listened to this quite a few times and got a load of useful info so thanks for that. I ordered some Thieaudio Hype 4 (a bit cheaper of Amazon) to try and agree they nail the lows and the detail for in ears. They feel hyped (as name suggests) but Once I got used to this (sort of NS10 feel) they are now staying. With my LCD x to provide the audiophile "hifi sound" I fee I could nail a great master on this setup. They work really well, are incredibly portable and are the audeze of in ears - Maybe, you certainly hear to significant detail jump. They make the Airpords pro sound like shit (not that I thought they sounded great but these really show you how much improvement there is).
Hype 4 is also wonderful IEMs they are just tiny bit less detailed, slower and and have more lowend than I would prefer. You should definitely give Oracle Mk3 a try and once you hear those electrostatic highs and their speed and detail, you won't go back. Hype 4's have more than anybody need for IEMs monitoring.
With the current price reductions I can get the Ananda Nano £380 or Arya Stealth (not organic) for £550. Have you any experience or thoughts on the Arya stealth vs xs, nano and organic? What made you go for the organic over the stealth and why is it needed in addition to the nano? Mixing and listening to electronic music is my focus - house and techno. I think the general option on it stealth is that it’s not a fast but has a smoother less sharp high end. Once you've added EQ is there much difference? between the Organic and Nano?
Ah the last section 😁 I get it that it’s a competitive field and you want to demonstrate your quality. But funny enough, what I also learned in working in non-music jobs that people don’t really give a shit about what you do. You can give 50 to 60 hours on a job or be able to take care of tasks at 3am or turn-around a massive project in a matter of hours … who cares in the end. In fact, relationships that purely transactional are low-tier. But in the end, character counts for so much. And it goes both ways. You as a producer-engineer should demonstrate good character. But that should also mean that you work with people who can demonstrate good character. If a client is giving you nothing but grief and is about to cross a line or two, you shouldn’t have to “feel bad” of ending it right there. Your present and whatever future time you have is way more valuable than a client who is being difficult. And honestly, I wouldn’t want to have that kind of client on my roster.
Thanks for sharing! Just got Deres after checking it and hearing your input. I do have a question for you. I have the RME ADI 2 DAC. i’ve been exploring the toppings DX7 pro and attempting to discover sonic differences between the two, if any significant enough exists. What do you guys think?
Emrah finds the Topping to be more clinical & slightly wider. Wasn't enough for him to give up the functionality of his ADI 2 pro FS but he admitted that the topping was slightly more accurate due to it being a cleaner system overall but he didn't want to give up the RME features
so has the RME ADI-2 Pro been replaced by the topping DX7 pro plus as the best Headphone amp for mixing? also would you need an additional headphone amp if the DX7 is so flat and boring to reference your mixing under more normal conditions when mixing on headphones? or would you do that by taking the headphone amp out of the chain to mix directly via the headphone out of your audio interface?
Dx7 pro+ measures better and to Emrah sounds slightly cleaner and more clinical compared to ADI but ADI has the benefit of onboard eq and built in crossfeed. You want clinical and "boring" when mixing at all times. That's why many mix on neumann speakers. You let the other systems colour the sound of your mix in whatever way they do. You never look for a middle ground. Always prioritise clarity in your monitoring
You can use ozone match eq to capture the pink noise...then capture the song or vocal...it give's you an option to adjust your eq to match the shape of pink noise
I kept saying white noise but it's actually pink noise is sending the level information to riding algorithm at -10dB, and riding algo is reading the vocal levels and comparing the requested -10dB, if it's lower than -10dB it raises the volume, if it's higher, then it lowers the volume of the incoming vocal signal and it's instant. It's not an EQ, it's leveling up the vocals.
One is a regular audio interface, one is DAC/Amp combination. E2X2 probably has the best Headphones Amp among budget audio interfaces but it cannot compete with DX7Pro+ in case DAC performance.
E2x2 DAC wise for speakers is on par with your ID44's. I'd say slightly better. Headphone wise it surpasses mostly all interface headphone amps. Dx7 pro+ has more power and is arguably the best measuring DAC amp on the market. Pretty much end game in my opinion
@@Mixyap I understand they are different devices , but just care about the best sound for headphones. Also need a input to record instruments , so thought the e2 makes most sense
@@allstarz631 If you need to record something on the same device that would be the E2 then. But I would separate headphones amp from any Audio Interface as personal thing. You can go with simple Audient ID4 and then add a great dac/amp on top of that. Monitoring is the most important thing in case mixing, mastering and a proper amp would be "always" better. Just my 2 cents.
@@WorkingAudioTools Sorry. It doesn't make my DAW crash, it just cuts out intermittently, for some reason. I haven't used in a while so i forgot what the issue was. Apologies!
I guess the boundaries thing is you have to have those boundaries for yourself and take the lost of a client. A shop will close and if a customer is late "sorry" then they will go elsewhere for food. It does not mean they will not come back ever again. They might not, but if they are demanding they might go elsewhere, get it that one time and then become a pain in the neck and really they are someone else's problem. The difference is, if you get that call for something that is going to be a big step in your career you'll make that sacrifice for that exception. But you can not be a 24/7 business where you are on your own running it 24/7. Yes people do not give a shit but you don't need to give that much of a shit about their custom and their life with their song they want doing. It goes both ways. If you accepted everything all day and all night you'll soon burn out and put out such crap products that you'll soon sink you name in the mud. It's a very dumb reply in my opinion, it's the only dumb reply through out but thought now seeing it again that I had to say something. If he was talking about that one big time deal, then yes, make the exception... but do that all the time? It would just be stupid. With that same logic you should under charge yourself as if there's a cheaper person people will go to that person. If you do that then you also attract the wrong types of clients that aren't going to get you anywhere. If you have people that do not give a crap about you at all then also they might also throw your name in the mud behind your back and you'll lose possible clients that way... or just get know as a joke when you are not a joke. This reply seem like the pier pressure type reply someone makes to follow what they were told but it's a olds wives tail that just blinds you. Other jobs they close up shop and there might be time to make exceptions... but also if that exception is from someone that isn't going to appreciate what you are doing for you then it's a red flag that this person is going to come with a lot more problems in the background than what the presented opportunity might look like. You need friends in higher and higher places, not a client base of cloak and daggers.
Tbh every successful industry mixer we've spoken to has told us the same. The industry doesn't care and if you want to succeed in the industry then you need to accept that fast. If you want to succeed as a mixer working with non industry clients that really value you then you can pick and choose your clients but if you want labels and big artists, then you need to bend over backwards at the beginning till you have the clout to push back. Its a decision you make. Either you want to be an industry mixer, or an independent mixer
Never seen this channel befofe but seeing Audeze, Hifiman, and what looks like the truthear crinacle zero in the background has piqued my interest...I'm a music listening nerd and amateur musician just getting into production, why is everyone else using AT and Beyers even when they have money?
Because headphones aren't a primary option for them. Most speaker mixers fail to understand how to properly mix on headphones so will mostly invest the least amount of money possible and just stick them on at the end of the mix
Actually I have one more shelve full of headphones and I use all of them, depends on the work or my mood. I like to take care of my gear and to protect them from studio dust and humidity I like to keep them in the box when not in use.
My comment was tongue-in-cheek - a lot of great headphones there ! When and for what do you use the DCA Expanse, a headphone I am saving for... or the Stealth ... can't work that decision out, Stealth or Expanse ?
Thanks for sharing, there was literally nothing that I could not agree upon. Got a few things out of it as usual and enjoyed the podcast a lot. And for the heck of it I bought the four WA plugins that are on sale. I wanted to try Kickshaper for a long time and I must say that I really like it a lot 👌🏼 And by the way I’m mixing with the Harman Target for speakers with a 6 db low end boost and found my bass a little bit lacking in the translation. Gonna try a 8 db boost and listen which works better 🫨😊
Thanks. If your mix is translating with too little bass - turn the low end down on your target curve, not up, that will make you dial back even more bass.
