I would add Ancelotti from Real Madrid. Won la decima with a team playing excellent football all year and Di Maria on his best, but got sacked next year because he didn't win anything. Even though the difference between Barca and Real was marginal and UCL loss was bad luck.
Yeah, but that's typical for Madrid. Every coach who does not win a title gets automatically sacked. Ok, maybe not Zidane, but only because he has a legendary bonus now (one Ancelotti unfortunately didn't have). Though, Zidane himself had said in his first RM spell (after having won the champions League twice) that he knows that he could always be fired very fast when a few results don't fit.
I'd add Ancelotti at Chelsea too. Won their first ever league and cup double in 2010 but sacked only 12 months later (and look how that worked out for them...)
Giampaolo wasn't fired too soon, he should never have been hired, he was a terrible fit at Milan. You knew he was gone after the first game when he said in the post game press conference that the 4-3-1-2 was not going to work and he needed to change tactics. Basically admitting everything he worked on in pre-season was a waste.
van Gaal - every club he ever worked at ended up hating him for being so dier. his methods worked with a super talented young generation at ajax but then there was failure at barca (mid table laughing stock in Spain at the time), bayern (mediocrity), man utd (tedious)
Well at Barcelona he started by winning the first doubble in 39 years so I think it also worked it there. He made it to the championsleague final with bayern and what he made of our lousy dutch team in 2014 was just amazing. so it's not al that bad. But could have been a lot better indeed
I am a Monterrey fan over here in Mexico. Thank you so much for not only talking about European coaches but including Vucetich as well. The reality is, we really did live our golden era under Vucetich, but with Monterrey, being the Mexican club with the most investments in transfers and with one of the most expensive teams in the Americas, there is always a lot of pressure and expectations on coaches and on results. Adding up to the pressure, Tigres, the rival side here in the city, began becoming stronger as last decade progressed, reason for which pressure grew, we sacked Vucetich after a mediocre start to a season and we changed managers so many times. In reality, we never were able to settle for a definite title-challenging team after Vucetich's departure, despite the money we invested, probably until nowadays, as we have a good batch of Mexican talent in Rodolfo Pizarro, Carlos Rodríguez, and César Montes, a solid defense lead by Argentine Nicolás Sánchez, and a very strong offensive line, including Vincent Janssen (those Spurs fans will probably remember him) and Rogelio Funes Mori (second highest goal scorer in the history of the club). It also helps that we are now coached by former player Antonio Mohamed. It seems like a new golden era might be starting for my team, even though, to be honest, I still miss the Vucetich era. Once again, thank you for talking about my club, it made my day, and best regards from over here in northern Mexico 🇲🇽!

As an Atlanta United fan, I agree. He took a team that just won MLS Cup, with an exciting attacking style, and turned them into guys who can only pass backwards and sideways before booting our best players and bringing in a lot of people who have never played in MLS right before Champions League starts. ATL gave him WAY too much time. And now the damage is done. No going back.
Even though palace were absolutely terrible under De Boer and Hodgson has worked out really well for them, sacking someone after 4 games is honestly outrageous
It isn't when you lose 4 in a row, concede 7 and in all of that show no real tactics or any way of any plan going forward to prove that can all change. In other words things were only going to get worse and the players morale was already low enough it was.
Pioli has us playing much better football than that confused Giampaolo ever did. He spent the entire summer preparing a 4-3-1-2 formation, and then scrapped it when it didn't work and we lost to Udinese in the first game. And, Giamp prefered Biglia over Bennacer and Rodriguez over Hernandez, that says it all...
As an Atlanta United fan, I heard all about how 'bad' De Boer was as a manager. He was not very warmly welcomed here either and fans were calling for the sack maybe 2 weeks into the campaign. Turns out he's perfect for MLS and the signings he and the FO are pulling off for these young South American players is ridiculous

Maybe I’m just not understanding but Zach said the underlining numbers for Frank do bore in the games that he played were five points expected. However they got 0 points. He said the underlining numbers were not bad but what’s the point in that statement if they got 0 points?
It’s weird cause we would’ve been paying total football by now and we’d be able to attract a manager who was better than LVG at implementing that style of ball eg Ten Haag etc. But now the mistake of sacking LVG too early has led to another mistake which has led to our worst mistake of the last 10 years, hiring Ole. I also fear for the future of the club cause if he papers over the cracks by somehow finishing fourth we’ll keep him, miss out on Poch and all the top managers will be committed to their clubs. Peak times ahead.
Cypher Elite We’re giving the wrong guy time man. What if we qualified for the CL with Ole but then got knocked out in the group stage, ended up in Europa and ended up finishing lower than this season? We would’ve missed out on a class manager like Poch and the rebuilding cycle would begin again. If we get Poch in during the summer we take the rebuild to the next phase. Either way Ole is nowhere near good enough to contend with the likes of Klopp and Pep every season which is where we’re aiming to be at the end of the day.
Ramboo339 Even Lampard has had Chelsea up in the top four most of this season despite having a transfer ban and not being backed by his board. Klopp got to a European final in his first season, during Liverpool’s rebuild. Ole will never be good enough, he’s already lost more games than Klopp has in 4 years 🤣. 100% agree.
Lol, LVG is one of the masters at total football. His problem was he had little control over signings and only had 2 years. If he had one more year at least to sign more players, we would’ve seen more improvement. People like, Herrera, blind, depay, Di Maria, schniedelin - even darmian and rojo were decent signings for backup Along came mourinho and destroyed that. Granted he did sign Pogba and lukaku but those players would be good for backup
Puel at Southampton? He finished 8th with them and was still sacked. Wenger, he did better despite having less than £0 for transfers than emery did and so far arteta has shown nothing to say he's a big improvement. Duncan furgusson, he wasn't sacked but anyone with that kind of record as interim manager deserves a little more time and a shot at proving them self.
It was Claude Puel. Pellegrino was the one that had Southampton in the relegation zone most of that season. Duncan Ferguson didn't want to continue. He was only happy doing it until they brought in another Manager.
I agree with LVGz sacking coz we needed a coach with attacking impetus.. But mou was a not the replacement needed. Ole is good manager learning quickly and adapting to the games. His signings are are g8.. all of them goin straight into the first team. When he has finished we will have a team that is professional and hungry to play the united way. We are good on the counters not good attacking with patience and less space. Passing and creativity needs to improve. Bruno was brought in with the same intention. Man utd will sign a creative striker, winger or both..for sure
Exactly, what are they basing that on? Who can say for sure what percentage of shots for each player should be on target? They can't possibly take everything into context like a certain player not being on full fitness, a player being in form or out of form or simply low on confidence.
Benitez reign coincides with best arsenal team ever? Arsenal won one FA cup in Benitez' first season at Liverpool but were trash for the rest of his time there.
How exactly were Giampolo, De Boer, AVB and Machim sacked too soon other than the useless stats you gave for them. Giampolo was a bang average Coach of a bang average team that didn't really climb the table much. A bit like Stoke City in the first few years under Mark Hughes. He was out of his out depth in a much bigger club with much better players just as again Mark Hughes was after the Manchester City takeover. The man they should have brought in is Atalanta's Manager. A man who actually took that club higher up the table each season. You know proper improvement. De Boer was a dreadful Manager period. That was clearly indicated the season prior at Inter-Milan where he only lasted 3 months. Honestly he was incredibly fortunate to dominate a very very weak Eredevise at the time with Ajax those 4 consecutive seasons. AVB was out of his depth at both clubs. Chelsea brought him in on the assumption he was Mourinho's true successor based off what he also achieved with FC Porto. As for Spurs, Bale was carrying that team on his back that entire first season he took over them. As soon as he left for Real Madrid he was instantly exposed yet again. Which leaves Machim. He started off very well but dropped off rapidly Marco Silva style. Sevilla clearly wanted to finish in the top 4. As of right now Lopetegui has them sitting firmly where they need to be. It's looking more likely he could achieve it at the end of the season because of that improved defence you critised so foolishly.
Talia Mason yeah I’m a Milan fan and Giampolo was horrible, worked the whole preseason trying to establish his new formation, I believe it was a 4312, and after the first game of the season in a draw. He threw it away and went back to the old ways . And we played like complete shite until he left, now we’re still shite, but not as bad. Climbing up since the arrival of Zlatan
