@@sonictj3 I remember that i saw through Twitter and at the end of the Frontiers playtrough that she is now aware of Sonic and the Black Knight and liked the armor designs (even if she doesn't know the context). And now i DESPERATELY want her to play that next.

Even though this game has its flaws. Holy hell ,you can feel the passion behind it.
The Super Sonic segments in particular are just amazing, it actually makes the super form feel like what it should be: *Undefeatable*

The two things I will always remember this game for:
1. The absolutely amazing soundtrack
2. The random animals and objects you can catch while fishing

1. There's amazing music is pretty much all Sonic games. (Even some of the worse OSTs have bangers.)
2. Sonic's version of Cyberspace is based on and made up of places he's been and things he's seen. (For all we know, the Big the Cat we see in the game could just be a construct created by the simulation.)
3. The best Super sonic fights in the series.
I love how everyone (myself included) were like "yeah this is fine" during the first level, up to the Giganto boss fight where we all collectively lost our god damn marbles.
Shen, did you not know that all Sonic music is fire? That's like... the one consistently good thing about the franchise.
Besides Chronicles anyway, where thanks to legal issues with the original soundtrack they had to bodge some MIDI tunes at the last second.

@@Toonrick12 Not really, some Genshin Impact fans were using bots, but others were voting for Sonic Frontiers because they didn't care about the reward, but upon knowing about the bribing of the Primogens, Sonic fans not only got salty and began ATTACKING Genshin fans on sight, they even started using bots as well... and due to their toxic behavior, people from outside communities joined in to vote for Genshin Impact just to make Sonic lose... lo and behold, that's exactly what ended up happening.
Long story short; If Sonic Fans kept their mouths shut, they would've not attracted so much spite against them, and they would've had a better chance to win.
This was the game that finally convinced SEGA to give Sonic Team a real budget and proper time to make a damn good game. Proof that putting in effort, giving Sonic a real story, and letting the characters be legit is infinitely more profitable *and* beneficial to company rep than pivoting to gimmicks over and over. Even if this game isn't perfect (because we can nitpick to high heaven,) it's the the first step in a *sprint* in the right direction. Cannot wait to see Shen's full playthrough.

Of course, once the upper management actually start to care about Sonic as a franchise instead of as a PR mascot, it may be the end of Sega's lax copyright management that has allowed for all the fan content like hacking contests, games, art, music, ports, and fan patches to make the broken official games work properly.
Fun fact: Sega has been a front for a gambling machine manufacture since a merger a couple decades ago, that's the real major reason why the games have been released so unfinished and rarely meaningfully patched for all these years. Sonic is just the friendly face that they like to show to the public. All other Sega properties are carefully copyright claimed all the time as much as say Nintendo likes to do.

Frontiers is the best sonic game in years. It's still got it's flaws but in comparison to most of what we've got of modern sonic right now its amazing.
Compared to everything else on the market it’s borderline trash. Still at least they made good music….by imitating devil may cry but still. Although I have to agree it is by far the best 3D sonic game. Although they have yet to reach the 2D games level

Ever wonder how Sonic’s eyes just… work when they are open? Like sometimes they’re not really apart, they just… work strangely.
Sonic has a pair of eyes, consistently. As shown when they blink. It's just he lacks fur... needles? between them, giving the impression of the infamous "mono-eye."

Legitimately though, for all of its flaws, the soundtrack for this game slaps
To be frank you can break the game with enough fishing:
do it long enough especially in the last area you can get enough materials to not only get the chaos emeralds and tokens for characters without the grind but also max your stats.
Granted you need hundreds of purple fish tokens from the starry nights to do which isn't hard just rng.

I honestly thought Shen’s sonic-sona (or whatever you call it) to be a bird, but the one on the thumbnail is still cute. But yeah, this game is insane with it’s super fast movement speed, giant bosses, and intense cutscenes. Even with it’s flaws, this game is amazing.

When my friend told me this game had metal music in its OST that featured the legend himself - Kellin Quinn, from Sleeping With Sirens, I knew I was going to love every second of it, and I did. Also, my boy Nathan Sharp is featured on the OST as well, which gives the game extra brownie points.
I can't get over how weirdly depressed everyone sounds in this game. It's fantastic because the Sonic comics had a habit of getting really serious at times and I actually really loved it, so it's cool to see the characters showing different tones and attitudes from what we are used to. At the same time, it's hilarious because I am so used to these characters being one-note in the games that hearing them take on a more serious tone feels extremely out of character. XD
Apparently the IDW comics are Canon, I guess the trauma stacked in this game specifically.

5:04 I hope we get this reaction for every Sonic game Shen ends up playing. The sonic series is very divisive (I'm a big fan myself!) but the one thing the majority can agree on is that the music is always a banger!
Sonic and music has always been like Frontiers to be honest. It goes so hard that we now know that even if some the games might be terrible, the music is still going to be bops after bops(ofc there's misses, but the good and the great just outweigh the meh and the bad so much it's just irrelevant to the community) .
If you want an idea of how hard it goes, just go listen the main theme from what people know as the the worst game in the series(it's not really that but who cares lol), Sonic the Hedgehog(2006): His World.
Oh, which is your personal vote for worst Sonic game? Always a more interesting question than which is best.

Glad you seem to have had fun with this! Especially with the music. Sonic music rarely misses; can't think of another series that does butt rock so well.
Crush 40 is totally butt rock and they're super involved in Sonic music, but in the case of this game's boss themes they went straight up 2000s nu metal PLUS synths
I didn’t think Frontiers would be the perfect “baby’s first Sonic” but here we are.
Those moments with the epic music, speed and awesome fights are what make Sonic so much fun, ever since the Sega days.

The fight with Giganto is just... Wow. Way to give away what "inspired" Super Sonic.
Especially the totally original beam clash and flying at great velocity to pierce the enemy's chest.

I thought more people would be in on the joke. The joke being everyone knows Super Sonic, specifically the Sonic Adventure Super Sonic, is just Goku.

i think my favorite thing about that boss track is that the official sonic youtube account made a music video for it that feels like early youtube amvs and something about that feels so pure and wonderful
The last sonic game I played was Sonic Heros, my god does it hit me hard when I see how far sonic games have gone, it makes me miss the old days of watching the cartoon series and playing the games.

I mean, this is multiple several hours long streams worth of footage condensed down to 15 minutes, so some learning was definitely involved. But, yeah, she took to the game and 100%ing the stages fairly well and dedicated (man, she was beating her head against the second stage S rank for quite a long time, though).
Sonic frontiers is flawed, sure, but i had so much goddamn fun playing it.
Plus it kind of canonized the IDW comics so. I love it for that.

The way that they managed to make super sonic feel super fucking powerful while also not feeling like "oh yeah, cool, I guess he's just invincible now" is fucking sick.
Im astonished you were able to S rank 1-2 on your first visit to the level, that aint an easy thing to do and most people come back to it later with more stats to get that S rank, so well done!

This game's movement is so fun, I could just mindlessly run through its open plains for hours! There is only one game I've had this kind of experience with and it's called GO Vacation!

The best part about this game is that you literally don’t have to play the worst part of this game, whatever you feel that part might be. Everything you do makes some kind of progress, so you are able to entirely skip whatever you dislike.

moment i saw this on my notifications, I knew i wanted to watch this EXCLUSIVELY for the first boss.
Honestly, aside from dabbling in the colors remake (which I finally finished after playing frontiers, it was a bit weird since I'm not at all used to 3d sonic games but it was very fun in the end), I haven't played a sonic game since I was a child on the DS, but this game was the perfect one to get back into it, I think I might be a sonic Fan for the first time in my life!
If this is your first I guess this is a good way to start, hope you consider Playing others in the future
