I can't even fathom to imagine what life must have been for Kakyoin, For the longest time he had no friends and nobody to really connect to, his curse of a Stand made him a foreigner among everyone he knew, his abnormality was like a prison. He could not properly relate to his parents or anyone he knew, his Stand was like an infection that made him not human in comparison to all the regular people out there. Then came the alluring temptation of DIO which just replaced the empty prison with another one since he was stripped of his free will and was turned into a pawn. Then finally he was set free by the Stardust Crusaders and he found friends and meaning in life. Then he had a wonderful but dangerous journey across the world with the first friends he has had, people he could even call another family at least according to these lyrics. Then when he finally encountered DIO again he was ready to give up on all of this, to risk even his own life to help out his new friends/"family." It must take a massive amount of will to be able to risk your life, especially a life that had finally found a meaning in a life-risking crusade of all things. Kakyoin truly was a blessing of a person, ready to give up his newfound happiness to help out people most close to him. Kakyoin was always somewhat reserved but in some scenes like his enthusiastic sumo discussion with Jotaro his carefree and relaxed nature bleeds through. He had finally found people he could relate to and share happiness and pain with. Despite his somewhat limited scenes and characterization Kakyoin is truly a good boy, and I grant him the honorary Zeppeli title. Truly a friend and ally like no other. Stardust Crusaders are the best group of characters, Change My Mind.
Personally, I think that the duwang gang and the passione gang are the best In most aspects , but stardust crusaders was the first jojo series where you could really feel the deep bonds between the characters. What makes the stardust crusaders unique is how intergenerational they are, you have Joseph, who was probably 60/70 at that point, Avdol who was 30/40, Kakyoin and Jotaro who were 17 and Polnareff who was 20/30 (I'm guessing all of these ages BTW. Correct me if you know the actual ones.) They even had a friend of a different species, Iggy. Sure, passione and duwang are better characters with more development, but they never had this sense of intergenerational friendship. Even Joseph deeply cared for Kakyoin, as shown by how devastated he is by his death. This was an old man, who deeply, purely and genuinely cared about some teenage kid who was still finding himself, and was one of his first friends. Hell, even with Polnareff and Kakyoin, they are different races, and in the eighties it was a big deal to treat foreigners with respect. Also Joseph and Avdol is another unlikely friendship considering the time he grew up in. The stardust crusaders may not objectively be the best gang, but they are the intergenerational, interracial and most bonded gang out of them all.

When the song said something about “this is how it’s supposed to end” that hit me. At the end of part 3 I was pretty at peace with Kakyoins death, and it wasn’t until part 4 that I wished he was alive because of the psychological effects on Jotaro. If one less crusader had died and stayed with him he might have been able to move on
Even though Joseph and polnareff survived, some forget that jotaro formed a connection with kakyoin ever since the day he removed the fleshbud before ol polnar joined later on. They were essentially the same age as simple high school students. He lived a life of loneliness, something I can understand, and there was no one who could understand him nor see him. Dio came along with temptation to bring him out of that lonely world, but in reality he simply dragged him further into darkness. But here came along someone who was supposed to be his "enemy" save his life even after what happened. He finally found someone that could see him. Not saying the rest of crusaders weren't on the same level, because they most definitely were. But jotaro and kakyoin obviously spent more time together as friends in between the time of each episode/chapter. Hell when death 13 and rubber soul happened, jotaro knew there was more to it then kakyoin looking crazy or being a traitor. The fact he lost 3 friends in one day, even saw his own grandfather die, is no surprise he would became psychologically affected and even suffer from PTSD.

If you think about it, Kakyoin KNEW that he had a little chance to survive if he didnt use the last emerald splash, But he did it anyway. He knew if he didnt give up his own life, The crusaders wouldve lost greatly to DIO. Kakyoin knew that his power wasn’t equivalent to DIO’s, But he still stood high and confident. Kakyoin went on that trip to Egypt, without hesitation. He knew that if he went on that trip, he could’ve died. But he broke not ONE sweat. When the song said something about “this is how it’s supposed to end” that hit me. At the end of part 3 I was pretty at peace with Kakyoins death, and it wasn’t until part 4 that I wished he was alive because of the psychological effects on Jotaro. If one less crusader had died and stayed with him he might have been able to move on
Even though Joseph and polnareff survived, some forget that jotaro formed a connection with kakyoin ever since the day he removed the fleshbud before ol polnar joined later on. They were essentially the same age as simple high school students.
He lived a life of loneliness, something I can understand, and there was no one who could understand him nor see him. Dio came along with temptation to bring him out of that lonely world, but in reality he simply dragged him further into darkness. But here came along someone who was supposed to be his "enemy" save his life even after what happened. He finally found someone that could see him.
Not saying the rest of crusaders weren't on the same level, because they most definitely were. But jotaro and kakyoin obviously spent more time together as friends in between the time of each episode/chapter. Hell when death 13 and rubber soul happened, jotaro knew there was more to it then kakyoin looking crazy or being a traitor. The fact he lost 3 friends in one day, even saw his own grandfather die, is no surprise he would became psychologically affected and even suffer from PTSD.

When I first heard this song, I didn't know that it was basically about Kakyoin, and it just felt like a really therapeutic song that filled me with relaxation and ease. Now that I know what I know, the way I view this song isn't going to change. Ok my eyes become teared when i realized how kakyion was sad and alone in his life and probably has no purpose in his life until he meet Jotaro and the Crusaders.
When he looks at Holly and the situation of the crusaders, he sees that it is his chance to do something for someone, and perhaps have someone to accompany him.

You know, Kakyoins parents would eventually learn of his death however they'd never truely know the cause.
He risked it all to save his friends, and he didn’t wast his life to the slightest, I also believe that since jotaro got to be the mentor for part 4, and polereff for part 5, kakyoin should have been part 6 mentor instead of giving jotaro more spotlife

I have got some bad news for both of you
If you think about it, Kakyoin KNEW that he had a little chance to survive if he didnt use the last emerald splash, But he did it anyway. He knew if he didnt give up his own life, The crusaders wouldve lost greatly to DIO. Kakyoin knew that his power wasn’t equivalent to DIO’s, But he still stood high and confident. Kakyoin went on that trip to Egypt, without hesitation. He knew that if he went on that trip, he could’ve died. But he broke not ONE sweat. ALSO I think we all know that the emerald splash was deflectable but it’s the confidence that makes it so it cant be deflected.
This song made me remember how close I came to crying at Kakyoin's death. It takes a lot to make me cry and songs usually don't make me cry but damn.
