- Dr. Doom’s Fearfall is a freefall space shot ride that opened at Universal’s Islands of Adventure on May 28th, 1999. Based on the arch enemy of the Fantastic Four, Doctor Victor Von Doom, better known as Doctor Doom, the attraction has guests screaming with terror as they are thrust 185 feet in the sky and hurled back down with a face-melting force stronger than gravity itself.

Fun fact: When the ride pauses for a brief moment, it's actually weighing the vehicle so it can give it the correct amount of power at launch. I actually worked one of these rides!

a bit tongue in cheek, from what i’ve seen is that pretty much all carnival games look easy, but are rigged one way or another. the worst is the one where you toss a soft ball into a wicker basket...also the one where you throw a ring onto a bottle. both next to impossible...
Especially after watching the Netflix series
This ride was 10x better at night. The loading platform was eerily dark, however there was enough light to make it difficult to see the tower rising above, not knowing how high you were about to be launched created an awesome level of paranoia. (at least it did as a 14 year old lol) It's not the fastest, or the tallest drop tower, but it's absolutely the best themed tower ever created

One thing no one ever talks about with Drop Tower Rides is the noise. Right before it blasts off, it makes a pneumatic hiss that can be heard across the park. Like the Space Shot in Adventure Land (Altoona, IA) can be heard all the way from the top of the Ferris Wheel in a different section of the park.
It's really awesome, and the exact kind of flavor I think a Dr. Doom ride would have.
Man i love your videos but i always found this ride super lame even as a kid, and now that i'm a huge nerd i can't help but be disappointed that the ride isn't good enough FOR DOOM!
Yeah I remember going with my parents on the long like 5h queue watching the video they had a lot of times and thinking, the ride is going to be awesome but I left so disappointed

king96300 doing Universal, IOA, then Hollywood Studios for Galaxy's Edge and then squeezing in Magic Kingdom along with some good bars. It's the big 21 and I got alot of the family coming with me to celebrate
I think this spaceshot tower ride system would be a great idea for a sinestro ride at the six flags parks since the fear is the theme of this ride and sinestro is the opposite of green lantern

I’m gonna be honest I rode this for the first time I went to ioa and I didn’t feel it was that intense and it felt like a controlled fall, very cool theming however

Even though it's a quick ride, I really enjoy it!
On days where the line is low I'll usually just marathon it for a bit.
The first (and only) time I went on this, I was already a veteran of Tower of Terror. I was thoroughly unimpressed. Zumanjaro in Six Flags NJ is the only freefall/drop ride that gets me at all anxious. But like, in a good way.

I have an S&S Drop Tower at my home park, Six Flags Over Texas! It’s called Superman: Tower of Power.
That ride has that weird version of Brainiac in the queue. Proves Six Flags was dumb even in its peak. WHERE'S DCAU BRAINIAC??
The best part of the ride is the air-conditioned queue. I remember riding this a dozen times or so on a particular hot day when I visited.

I went on this ride for the first time during my last trip to Universal! I was always terrified to go on this ride when I was a kid. I’m happy to say that Dr. Doom was my first drop tower ride, haha!

I kinda wish there were a few more Marvel theming at Universal Hollywood. But Disney’s stuff does still look awesome.
