    How different would Star Wars have been if Qui-Gon trained Anakin instead of Obi-Wan??

    • @doomkrieg3817
      @doomkrieg3817 5 місяців тому +91

      Probably would have continued his training with Qui-Gon, Dooku would’ve stayed a Jedi, probably better emotional control, the galaxy would have lost the best defensive duelist in the galaxy.

      Pretty sure Anakin wouldn't have turned to the dark side.
      I believe Ani would trust Qui-Gon with his relationship with Padme, so he'd tell him about the nightmares.
      With Qui-Gon's guidance, Anakin wouldn't have been tempted by Palpatine because he'd have the father figure he needs.

    • @arthurwulfrun
      @arthurwulfrun 5 місяців тому +18

      Palpatine would continue to manipulate Anakin and the outcome would have been the same because it isn’t Anakin, Obi-Wan or Qui-Gon that truly matter, it was vision of his love Padmé dying that drove him.

      The thing is the strict adherence to dogmatic doctrine is something quigon was canonically diametrically opposed to. The digma around love would not be present around qui gon that father figure line is quoted from Lucas himself. If anakin has qui gon he would have someone to talk to.thay would listen and help. This stops his vision from coming true as with a support system anakin is not so easily deceived- and does not have to turn elsewhere for help. If he has no insecurity about lack of support there's no way for sidious to manipulate him.Lucas has basically said that if qui gon had won there would be no vader.

    Qui-Gon will forever be one of my favorite jedi of all time. He wasn't a conformist, he could see the faults of the jedi order and was unwavering in his belief that love doesn't make a jedi weak, but the exact opposite. Such a good character we'll never see enough of.

    • @Dekartz
      @Dekartz Місяць тому +6

      It was never about weakness. The idea is that love and attachment are potential paths that can lead to the dark side. Something we subsequently see happen over the course of the trilogy.
      It's more nuanced than "the council is wrong and Qui-Gon is right." or "The council is right and Qui-Gon is wrong"

      Anakin even had a loose understanding of it when he was talking to Padme, attachment is forbidden but from a certain point of view they are encouraged to love, of course he was mostly saying that for his own ends. 😅

      Doubtful the clone wars would have happened, I don't believe that dooku would have actively worked to undermine the Jedi order by "joining" sidious, as qui-gonns death and blame.on the Jedi order were what tipped him over that edge.
      I could, however, have seen dooku, qui-gonn and Anakin leaving the order to train Anakin in a way more akin to their beliefs, not becoming grey Jedi, but definitely the more.traditional Jedi like from the old Republic.

    It’s discussions like this that truly elevate Star Wars into being one of the best fictional stories ever told. Star Wars has always gotten a bad rep for being “the silly space movies” and then you find conversations like this where you find hidden values and themes and details that you wouldn’t notice watching the original and prequel trilogies. It makes the worldbuilding and characters more complex and adds nuance to it all and you really get into the mindset of George Lucas and his team when they made the movies and also the EU. I don’t really get these deep dives when watching the disney era stuff because they are so content driven as opposed to story driven

    There is actually three possible outcomes:
    One where Qui-gon raises Anakin to become the chosen one he was meant to be
    One where Maul and Sidious raise Anakin to be the future of the Siths
    And the one we actually got where Anakin is raised by the jedi but without the guidance of Qui-gon. And here, his fate is still open, where he will be tempted to the dark side but his downfall is not certain. Ultimately Anakin chose the dark side but also came back in the very last moment. And the whole events up to RotJ go back to the duel of fates.
