Don't forget that being a content creator is very similar to running your own business. You should upload things people want to see, just like business owners offer products/services that people need in their life. The most difficult part is starting and growing to a certain point, but hard work and consistency (with a little bit of famester) will always pay off somehow. Even if you just gain a some experience, it would be worth it.
It's the payoff "somehow" that has content creators stressing. All these platforms have users working their azzes off for the "somehow" for free. And you do it for YEARS for free HOPING for some benefit. Meanwhile the platforms are collecting a check from all your years of hard work. I've worked in television for 20 years, and I can see social media is becoming more like tradition television. But at least in television, if I spend an hour producing a video I get a check. Even when I interned for free, I got a meal, free access to the best equipment. The payoff was so much greater than what social platforms provide. But keep working for the "somehow". The burnout will eventually come.
not everything shes saying is applicable. most youtubers are faking their expertise… i mean it in the nicest way, the people really doing it are too busy to talk about it

@@thelatashajames It's been eye opening already! If I can only afford to spend about 10-15 hrs/week/client on social media management, what would you recommend as the most important things to focus on?
@@itsjohnzamora Engagement. The algorithms are not only measuring what your followers do but also what you do. Secondly, study your data so you can better determine your content strategies. Third, tools. Management of social media is often about time management. How can you create engaging content quicker but without losing quality. What can you automate?
I believe an influencer marketing strategy is a better idea for a new brand seeking coverage when your budget is small and you want to reach a relevant audience. However, finding the right influencer can be challenging. Do you guys know of any channels or websites that make the process of finding content creators easy and accessible?
Hey everyone! As a seasoned award-winning former VH1 Producer and now Strategist I have to say this is by far the best straight forward presentation overview of what goes into a social strategy and its explaination. Please give Latasha some Love and spread this video to all and more importantly subscribe.
How can those “pillars” be combined if goal with social media is a combination of affiliate marketing (selling products) and gaining a clientele for private practice?
In that case, the affiliate products should be interesting to your target audience regarding the problems you solve. For example, a wellness coach can discuss both recipes for maintaining youthful skin (and sell courses on that topic) and recommend products for skincare. A social media manager can both talk about platforms to choose from and recommend a SMM analytic tool.
Hello Latasha. Love the video. I was wondering if you could make this video again but this time a whole video dedicated to each social media platform like you have done before.😊😊
Thank you so much @thelatashajames! I'm from a production standpoint, what video capturing and editing software you used? I love the smooth transitions between your face and the screen and the split screen look. Thanks!
Thank you for your video :) have a question about Pinterest. I'm really new to Pinterest. I watched your video and I created a business account. But I have two completely different shops on Etsy, so do I create two different Pinterest Business accounts for each shop, or do I create different boards for each shop, but keep them under ONE Pinterest account? Or how doest that work? In one of my shops, I sell printable junk journal pages and kits and in my other shop I sell printable greeting cards, party favors and wall art. Should that all be in one Pinterest account or two different ones? Thank you in advance!! Also, do I really need covers for my Pinterest boards?
Latasha, I would be so happy to see a video on the the different platforms a ssm typically needs. Like do I need access to the backend of a website to see analytics on ad-to-cart metrics? I'm wondering how to collect data on performance metrics in once central place i.e., email clicks, social clicks, organic web interactions, etc. Do you create these campaigns in one place and share individual links to the web designer, email marketer and social media manager? Thank you!!! I hope what I'm asking makes sense.
Keisha, the platforms a social media manager needs will vary on the job you're asked to do. You may not need Google Analytics because website traffic is not part of your job. To collect performance data in once central place there are tools like Sprout Social (check for alternatives because its expensive). Hootsuite which used to be free, now charges but it's not that expensive. It provides reports too you can use for clients. If you're working on a marketing team, then your campaign data can be shared with the team depending on the tool. Hootsuite and Sprout both allow that and all you do is add their email to your account.
That depends on the audience as she said. Is it B2B or B2C? Is SAAS--Software as a Service. If Finance or accounting maybe Linkedin. If carpet cleaning maybe IG or Facebook, or UA-cam. Carpet cleaning is quite visual. As she said, do your research on the audience the business serves and go from there.
Invest in a social media analytics tool. Google analytics is for websites. So you'll track traffic from social, but it's not for measuring social media engagement. Hootsuite, Sprout Social (an enterprise tool), Buffer App, there's so many on the market and many are not that expensive for the data you get across platforms. Also, if a freelance just take the expense off on your business taxes.
Hey Latasha! Would you do an extensive video breaking down the style, genres, formats, and length of videos/posts that work on major social platforms IG/FB, TIKTOK, UA-cam, etc...? I noticed not one piece of content or certaint style (5sec vids vs talking head vs education vs long captions vs hashtags) work on every platform... :/ ie. I've had a viral reel on IG that has literally 0 views on tiktok... Thank you!
Focus less on trying to appease the ever changing formats style for each platform. The platforms are constantly changing what they say works to appeal to their own business needs. Focus MORE on providing content that addresses your audiences pain points. Don't let the platform keep you on a content wheel like a gerbil...continually test what. works with YOUR audience with the goal of providing value. Otherwise, you'll soon burnout.
Can i ask a question though? Was your location a vital factor when it comes to targeting who you want to see your post? For some reason, on both Facebook and UA-cam, if I search hashtags, it appears to prioritize India-based videos when I'm hoping to find somewhere in Europe or USA.
Great video! I’ve been growing a platform on Twitch with kind of a podcast segment analyzing my favorite media and commentating on it as a way to repurpose on UA-cam. Hoping to set it into motion a little more next year, but hoping UA-cam won’t try to bury my content haha.
Hey Latasha, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I was wondering if I could help you edit your highly engaging thumbnails which will help your video to reach to a wider audience .

Evan, you may have answered your own question. How much of what you create is based on audience insights and data vs what you THINK? The production value of your video doesn't matter if your audience isn't interested in the video to begin with. Do the research, see the trends, figure out the audience pain points and produce videos around that. AND to be totally honest, many content creators have a secret tactic of getting friends and other people to like their videos when posted to get the algorithm to show it to more people. Promote your social videos elsewhere! Email or text.

Realising which social media platforms to start with is important. I should remember that.
Paid social media is critical to sale products and grow your brand and it all starts with building the strategy.
