If Saturn got a proper Sonic game, Resident Evil 2 and 3, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill and Final Fantasy 6-8.... It wouldn't have died. I think it would have outsold the 64 aswell.
Who cares if you recorded with your phone the fact that you're sharing us your masterpiece that you're working on is rewarding enough I wish I knew how to program games and I wish I knew how to grab development kids I would so get one for the Nintendo 64 and here's the three games I was so port to the Nintendo 64 1. Street fighter ex2 2. Darkstalkers 3. Street fighter alpha 3 4. Lunar silver Star story but I think all the cutscenes would have to be replaced with Still images
People that called out this to be fake do not understand the Saturns very distinct graphical artefacts, despite claiming to be experts. In addition, they were too concerned about upholding the 2D myth as they play Street fighter vs X-men on their, ironically, hardware accelerated Saturn. As for me, I was astounded and was just awaiting confirmation.
saturn is rendering on real hardware, one of the most intensive ps1 3d games... so if can handle a port of mgs 1, it can handle any ps1 game... and this was considered one of the peak of ps1 graphics along with quake 2 and gran turismo 2
@Frogbull55 Thanks 😊 I only ask because I can't seem to find an reference guides if programming boos for the Hitachi SH-2 architecture used in the saturn/32x but I can find assembly language books & reference guides for the CPU architectures used in all the other old consoles (MIPS, 6502 , 68000 ,z80).

The true power of Saturn. It isn't lying when some devs said that Saturn was stronger than PSX. It can handle anything the ps1 3d did. But PS1 can't handle something like Virtua Fighter 2 at the highest resolution or a 3d non Fighter at 60 fps like Decathlete and Mass Destruction
Thing with PlayStation is, The boundaries of the console capabilities were known quite early, and basically most devs knew what they could do to max out the console possibilities. There wont be any new PSX games, that would blow out the games we already know. It can be either on the same level when it comes to development, or Just executing a cool idea - but the hardware limits were pretty much reached a few Times. With Saturn most games havent used the full potential of the console, and many developers didnt knew how to use its power in a right Way. It is changing though! And Frogbull isnt alone there. I absolutely agree that Saturn can do almost everything that PlayStation can do. Almost, because those systems do differ, and games would never look the same on both platforms.
Yeah, you cant Just edit a PSX gameplay video to make it look like Saturn by using filters. And making a demo using some game dev tools at PC, or even modding MGS PC port would still require lots of work, to make it look like its a Saturn game. This is why I knew that this was something else. Even if this is Just a very short demo.
Ps. You could Say that I was a PSX fanboy, since I spent most of the time with that console back in the day. It wasnt because I disliked Saturn, it was because there were dozens of games for the system, sold ridiculously cheap at some point, and to this day I have lots of them. I also liked PS2 and PS3, have both of those consoles. But Saturn is, and Will remain, my favourite game console. And I would never diss it. Mostly because I knew since many years that it had a rough time during its lifespan, and it could really be something back in the day. Im hoping it still Will be something thanks to amazing projects like this!

PC was a main gaming equipment of many, no doubt about it. I also have got Mega Drive console, over here it was mostly sold as a 3rd party bootleg ones in the 90s, and then the trio of new generation came (Jaguar, Saturn and PlayStation) in 1995. Saturn had one major flaw in my opinion. Not the console, but weird decisions. Namely, there WERE games for Saturn, but for years left behind the language barieer, which many of them were Good games. One could argue that those games would not appeal to western players. But at the same time many of THE SAME games were ported to PlayStation and localised outside Japan! And Nowadays when I Finally have an occasion to play games for Saturn exclusive for years to Japan (fan translated that is), they always leave the japanese dubbing, instead of English. This is not a full localisation. Even English isnt my native language, not to mention I cant read or speak japanese. This very reason is why dozens of mediocre PC games were highly popular over here - because those recieved full localisation. Wish more Saturn games had this.

I believe this is accurate, but I'll honestly be impressed if this is fully ported to the Saturn rather than just be restricted to a tech demo of what the Saturn can do, yes I believe the Saturn can do it, but I'm more inclined to go by what is physically in my hand that can simply be put into the Saturn and played raw from native stock Saturn hardware. Other than that, this is a noble attempt but with such effort dedicated to this, I can't see how it can't be done for the full game.
I really had no doubts it was a real Saturn demo. There is still long Way to go. But the unbreakable barieer has been broken. Forever.

The original game certainly uses internally a fixed 30 FPS clock. For the remasters it's a shame that Konami didn't update it @@MAHIM2000
and a 60 FPS patch for MGS Saturn is beyond my capabilities as it's already hard enough to maintain 30 FPS all the time ;)
