Hey mate. Love your attitude. I’m back to Nz on Sunday this week in coromandel. It would be so cool to have u come stay and do what u do. We have a beach house in ring’s beach. Let me know if your keen. We will feed and look after u. U just do what u do. I’ll show u a couple of awesome fishing spots. Cheers mate. Regards Gibbo
Hey Matt, Welcome to the area. Great to see you get through surf. I got a kayak for my birthday but have not had a chance to use it yet. Hoping to soon. Your videos are a great help in understanding the sport. BTW… great to have met you the other day. Keep up the great work.
Kia orana Matt, good on you what you do, that’s what you call freedom to fish every day, where l come from in Rarotonga, fishing before anything , that’s why I always get dads belt. Ka kite bro, try fishing at lake ferry, Wellington.5810.
hey bud, be super carefull to cook with gas and no open window for the offgases to escape and also take care of your curtain being so close to the cooker. take out the mold of the curtain too bro, try and get some of the one use dehumidifiers, i got a wicked lung infection from not being carefull about that stuff awsome vid, just subbed to you mate, cant wait to watch more
Cheers mate, can't see it in the vid but I've got all the windows cracked (probably should've motioned that one) And yep I need to get rid of the mold😅 Cheers mate appreciate your concern. Thanks for the sub!
Windy Wellington, you're keen kayaking around that area bro, great video Matt, ps I grew up in Wellys bro and the tides around where you were paddling are pretty wild bro, as you mentioned, me and my whanau have dived and fished all around that area all the way around to Ngawi and Cape Palliser, love your videos you brave soul
Their are afew reefs if you head around left of where u were straight of karehana beach and their is alot of rocky area, so cool to see you so close to where i live, would love to see some vertical jigging out their, are you going to be fishing there much more ?
Hey bro one thing that helped me with surf entries was stripping the kayak down completely, chucking a wetsuit on and heading out in medium sized swell to have a bit of fun in the waves. There’s a bloke based in Australia called Paddleguy who has some good tips on entering and exiting surf in a kayak.
Definitely worth the subby bro seems since I started my mass 13+month walk I've finally had new Zealand outdoors people popping up on my feed, legend bro..those snapper looked juicy as, sure you'll get that blue cod next time..have an amazing week bro..
Mate, you managed to find a gap in the weather! Ive been sitting patiently for the weather and swell to calm down here in the Manawatu. Been thinking about making a trip down to Wellies just to get out. I said to the mrs tonight that my main man Matt from nomadic hasn't posted in a while. She said why? I replied that you moved down to Wellington to work at a Burnsco and that the weather has been terrible. I also commented that you are probably missing that nice Northland weather right about now haha. Good to finally see you out there though, hopefully you're still here when summer comes around, Kapiti really can turn it on around Christmas time! Till next time Matt, take care bro! 🤙
Cheers bro, it mental to think you guys are talking about me with yah wives🤣 And yes, I'm missing the farnorth. Cheers brother, take care and hopefully the weather comes right for all of us soon. Tight lines!
I think i would wear a dry suit on that West Coast Matt in those surf conditions. The chilling water is numbingly ice cold Love the solar tube idea for warm water.
Hi. Matt i remember when I lived in a van. I didn't like it then but miss it now. Im just hours away from being hit by a huge cat 4 possible 5 by 2 am Friday with 20 ft of strom surge. My fishing will be gone for a long time and house may go to. So catch some big ones for me tight lines man.
@@NomadicKayakFishing my house is in steinhatchee and yeah there is not much left one wall I've got an old place on the west end of the state. So I drove up and went fishing it was none stop action it helped insurance will cover it. I just want my health back. But I cought so many I couldn't raise my left arm. Tried your jigging technique and it worked.

Hi Matt, I met you in the shop last weekend. Love the videos but just wondering what safety gear you go out with, can't see a VHF, PLB etc, off this coast I would highly recommend them?? Cheers,
Heya. I'm partly happy with the van... The motor never skips a beat being a 1Kz, but ots outlining every other part of the van being a 1997 model. Alternator has been replaced, the starter motor broke, ABS has had a problems, clutch had to be replaced and I'm constantly chasing leaks🤣 if I did it all again I would've bought a newer model- 2005 or newer
You badly need a set of balloon wheels. Can't be great for the kayak to be dragged up and over rocks constantly. How do you find the seat setup? I have an old hobie evo 13 with the old seat and it's a pain in the ass after being on the water for longer than a few hours, even with a cushion.
I've had this kayak for almost 8years now and it's still totally fine with only a few surface scratches. It's one of many reasons that I love viking kayaks- they're super durable. The seats pretty good, I find that the comfort is dictated by the pfd u wear. I badly designed life jacket will mess up the back support no matter the seat
@@NomadicKayakFishing Might also be that pedalling with your feet puts your back at a different angle vs paddling by hand. +1 for the striker 4 sounder - love that thing.
Bro I'm sure you know what you're doing but turning into an on coming wave sideways really isn't advisable. That shit almost always spells disaster and a serious wetting down. Not to mention loss of gear. Hold fast and ride the wave instead of turning side onto it as its breaking.
