    22:05 slight correction: dunkirk is known for when british forces evacuated in 1940 due to german forces successful breaking allied lines. it was normandy that was invaded during D-day in 1944

    It's funny how they have Split the régions in the south west . Not with the historical région and not with the administrative région.
    Dordogne is orginaly a smaller région around Bergerac, Sarlat ... Inside aquitaine.
    But i believe that because a lot of english imigrate here or go on vacation (it's the old région of the plantagenet ) and because your Book is english they made it a lot bigger !
    Great vidéo thank you ! 😊

    Also, whilst I think about it, I've noticed in a previous video you had made the same error that you have made here so I will point it out. French cities that are called "aix" (be it Aix-les-bains, or Aix-en-provence) are pronounced "èx"

    Preservation of the native language is vital to the survival of a culture so I understand and appreciate why France would only have their signs in French - it is their sole official language!! In Ireland, we had our native language Gaeilge forcibly removed from us by the British crown as part of their colonization process. Chapter 1 of the colonizers handbook is to eliminate the native language as this also results in the decimation of culture and history from a society, given that both are connected to the native language. I think it would look very odd to see English language signs in France. Viva la France!

    • @WelshASMR82Maps
      @WelshASMR82Maps  21 день тому +2

      As a Welshman who had to learn Welsh, I totally agree. But I meant that Disneyland is not French, it's an American amusement park built in the most reachable place in Europe for all Europeans. Therefore, having signs just in French when there are Hungarians or Finnish people there seemed weird, why not bilingual at least? In Spain, those signs would possibly be in English, French and German, for example.

      But the French are the colonisers, no one wants to occupy France and stop them speaking French. The reason to put other languages on is for visitors to be able to find their way around more easily. Irish people don’t need to be in solidarity with the French in anti-imperialist grounds, we should be critical of them.

    • @noeonoohno4219
      @noeonoohno4219 21 день тому +1

      France is like the UK, Vietnam is like Ireland to France. The French forced the Vietnamese to speak only French during colonial rule. Solidarity with all colonised peoples.

    Regarding Nantes (where I was born and all of my family still lives there) : historically, Nantes and his region were, indeed, a part of Britany until 1941, due to a decision of the infamous maréchal Pétain.
    But I consider myself a true "Breton". After all, Anne de Bretagne was born in Nantes and the "Château des ducs de Bretagne" is in Nantes, not Rennes, Vannes or Brest 😁!
