It's a thrift shop haul! I lovvvvvvve charity shops you can always get such great bargains on trinkets but I never paid much attention to the clothes, was I missing out? You know the saying...so...was it trash or treasure?
This was pretty awesome. Your fellow Lucian/Brit youtuber (KarenBritChick) did a video on Thrift shops in New York. Maybe you should do a London version as it would give your British fans an opportunity to score pretty awesome deals
definitely treasure you picked great things, and I don't think you were missing out but depending what it is you are looking for, thrift shopping is a great option.
american thrift shops are for profit, like Goodwill is a thrift shop, Charity stores that sell thrift give more of the money back to the the causes they champion. Salvation army is one here. and yeah its waaay cheaper than london. depending on the area you buy the clothes or the state. which also determines the quality. I live in Missouri and the style here is reaaaaaaall conservative but all the vintage finds I get are great. Detroit in Michigan had some one of a kind pieces also. but that 50 pound dress in that shop you looked at ... they were obviously having a bubble.
Yes, here in the USA you can get amazing things at the Thrift stores for budget prices. My son was 16 yrs old at the time when he asked me for 25.00 dollars to shop at the thrift store. I was proud and shocked at the items he purchased, and he liked them. For most teenagers, they want the store bought items. All the items you bought where very nice. Good job!
In the US thrift stores tend to be on the cheaper side. For example: Goodwill has a single price for all the t shirts, jeans, and etc. no matter the brand. However they vary depending on if it's the men's, women's or kids section. Consignment shops can be more expensive because they consider the price value of the product before deciding how much they want to sell it for. Side note: I think you're great and love your channel!!
I am pretty much addicted to thrift shopping and I could not have explained the difference any better...good job! To add...here in San Francisco there are a lot of non-profit thrift stores that benefit Children's Hospital, cancer and Alzheimer research, maybe not as popular because they tend to be very small stores and sometimes barely seen..not all but some.
I don't shop second hand as much as I did as a teen (because I now sew my own clothes), but basically my entire life was wearing hand-me-downs and thrifted stuff. The highlight of my year would be Back-to-School shopping at the thrift store. And nope, no problem wearing clothes other people have. If you think about it, unless you make your own clothes from scratch, the odds of you buying & wearing a garment that no one else has ever worn is super low. Clothes in shops have been tried on by loads of people before we get to it, and even online shopping you could end up with a garment that someones else bought, tried on, didn't like, and returned.
I luvv thrift store clothes...i use to be ashamed when i was a kid but now im a thrift store queen...so i enjoy going to thrift stores and consignment shops.
I have heard of some dollar stores in the United States were clothing is a quarter or $1 but where I live in New Jersey a charity shop is the same as where you are except it is called a consignment shop. Less nice charity shops are called thrift stores. We have private and for profit ones too. Although if you go to bigger cities with a more varied demographic, lower rent, and more income levels then you have more thrift stores with better deals. I drove 45 minutes to an area with tons of thrift stores and got a 3 piece suit for $13 and a blazer for $1 by hopping from one store to another.
I am thoroughly loving that wrap dress! We have many thrift shops here in Canada and the prices are quite reasonable. I have no issue wearing used clothes, just give them a rinse. Loving your videos as well!
One of my favourite things to do. Kensington High Street has some great charity shops and the stuff you get there is very high quality and most of them dropped off by celebs so they've only been worn once in some cases. Another good place is Goodge Street, I've got some great stuff there on my lunch breaks. A moment of silence for the beauty of The Navera today please. That skin is looking radiant girl!
I love your confidence and the fact you're living your life on your terms, not for the black race. You're the portrait of true freedom for any black woman. Thanks for being that role model, thank Yahweh for you being born, you were meant to be on purpose.
loved your finds. Girl I shop @ my local GoodWill every week, I don't mind charity shops and it's waaaaay cheaper. I buy all sorts of things, furniture, clothes, bag etc
You are glowing. For real! I don't think I've been to a charity shop, but just a regular thrift store. Those are indeed quit cheap. The things you got were really nice. Another lovely video.
Raven in the US, Goodwill and Salvation Army would be considered charity shops but on a bigger scale. The shops that I saw you go into were more like boutiques specifically designed for certain causes. We have thrift stores or consignment shops that aren't really geared towards a cause as well. We have buy and sell shops that cater to designer goods too. Is it cheaper? It just depends on where you go and what's being purchased.
Yes we call theme thrift stores in the USA and you can get things for cheap. We have a few chains “Goodwill” and “The Salvation Army.” Just like in the UK the ones near the upper class neighborhoods have the best stuff.
Hi Raven! Perfect song for thrift/charity shopping. Knowing how the money is for good causes makes shopping extra nice. You look great in the clothing you selected. Enjoyed this video.....well, of course!
In Montreal, Quebec, Canada, we have the Salvation Army. It's always a hit and miss when you go there; it seems like they'll take and sell anything. I personally do not buy clothes from there but I will buy accessories, furniture, books and things for the home. No haggling allowed really; the price is on the tag and that's that. Madame Raven, I think you looked great in that white top and yellow pant ensemble. I never would have thought to put them together but that's why I love your style, very unique! :)
I absolutely love thrift shopping. I hit up the thrift shops for some of my sons clothing. They also pay us for his clothing that we're looking to give away. It's awesome.
Thrift shopping is one of my fav things to do here in Virginia USA. It is true that you can get things really cheap. For instance I got a Coach bag for $7.99 at a Salvation Army Thrift Store. You just have to look real good. You did a great job though and I thought you got some really nice pieces.
Love the yellow outfit and yes in the U.S. thrift shop are a lot cheaper and there are a lot of new items with tags a bargain is bargain nice picks you made
definitely at a thrift shop you can find so many things, like you said if you go to the richer side you tend to find better things for a great price. that's what I do, I shop at the richer side of town and I find great brand clothing for my kids and myself. I thrift shop depending what it is I'm looking for. you definitely made some great choices.
American here! We have some thrift stores that benefit causes, and some that don't. Resale and consignment shops are more expensive and for profit. Thrift stores are usually a lot cheaper. It's pretty hit or miss on quality, and most thrift stores aren't very well organized.
Ayy this Thursday I cleaned my room and ended up with 10 bin bags full of clothes bags etc and British heart foundation came to take it 🤧I felt so happy to help because they lady told me how happy they were to receive that many stuff
In a American Thrift Store like Salvation Army on Fridays and Saturdays whatever the color you can get 5 of that color a dollar a piece which is a good deal so only on Fridays and Saturdays. I love Fridays and Saturdays cuz it's such a great deal then they pick another color for 25% off.
All of the childhood clothing was from thrift shops. I knew no Caribbean parents that were going to pay Macy's prices for children's clothes haha. Some can be very nice like in New York but some are a bit dirty. Also, I think we have the same thigh birthmark! (not to be weird )
That wrap dress is so hippie! Love this video Raven! It is okay for us in France to haggle thrift shops because not all of them are for charity. And also I feel like prices are even lower here
Thrifts stores in the US are quite different. Everything is quite cheap no matter the item, and the store looks run down. They just allow anything to go into the stores, so there are a lot of items no one would buy. It’s mainly one chain of thrifts stores called Goodwill. I don’t know if they donate to charity or not.
Yes here in the US is much cheaper for example I have bought puma nike stuff for as low as 8 dollars brand new you just have to go to right area and such thrift stores
Oh my goodness! Everything you got was sooo lovely! I love it. Honey, you did good. In Cali, we got this magical place called DD’s Discounts. They have some really nice things there for dirt cheap! They have some super cute fashionable leggings for $4.99, they have great dresses that start at about $7.99 & up, & they have super cute shoes that are as low as $5.99! I go there all the time because I’m a Deals Diva & I love dressing like a Queen but I don’t have the royal funds (nowhere near it! LOL). Found my 3 year anniversary dress there. It’s multiple hues of blue & black & metallic gold & it looks kinda like the inside of a Geode rock... I’m not describing it right... 🤬... just trust me, it’s gorgeous & my man is gonna freak when he sees me in it (wish I could show it to you) & it only cost $13.99. Anyways, I wanted to ask you what exactly is your skin color? I ask because it’s gorgeous & shiny & solid (as in no discolored skin patches or anything, it’s just warm & gorgeous) & I was saying Caramel but I don’t know if that does it justice.
iv used to work in a charity shop and I can definitely say that the one I worked at, we had a set list on what we had to price it but it can never go beyond 20 pounds (when talking bout clothes, homeware and accessories can vary) but seeing one item priced at 50 pounds is very rare in a charity shop but I cant really talk about cancer research because I didn't work under their company.
I love the thrift shop.... I would like to know how do u like living in the UK as a darker skinned person... I am interested in moving but I would most likely need or want to live in your area and go to culinary school
vera phoebe hahaha. How? Most of the clothes here are second hand. If any Kenyan tries to tell you they have never worn Mtumba they will be lying. Hehe. Its the reason why a business venture of sellimg second hand clothes, shoes and bags is very profitable.
Down wit OPP? Lol I haven't heard that in like forever. Girl you went back. I love thrift shops. I like to buy clothes and jewlery and repurpose them. Some items here in America can be a bit pricey for namebrands but still not too bad we just have to keep an eye out for knockoffs as some shops dont necessarily check for authenticity. Unfortunately i found that out the hard way :-(. By the way I love your videos. Keep up the good work 👍
The thrift stores in the US are super cheap! For $100 you can fill up a whole shopping cart. Now some good wills aka charity shops are bit more expensive as well as consignment shops
Ih yeah its really cheap.in the states charity shops are a bit pricey but thrits store are dirt cheap. If u are ever in atlanta ga go to Value village and certain side of town have better stuff. Love you and you channel
we have thrift shops in the US i don’t think they go to charity tho i could be wrong but i use to shop at them alot i just know that goodwill employees veterans an they give u tax right offs if u want em

Raven Navera hi darling loved you finds!!! Can you give details on your jean knickers

Yellow on black girls will forever be a vibe 😍

Thank you so much for explaining that! I didn’t even know there were different kinds of “thrift stores in the US”
I am pretty much addicted to thrift shopping and I could not have explained the difference any better...good job!

Good morning, Raven. I loved the yellow outfit and the wrap dress.
I'm obsessed with books from charity shops. New releases for £1 and it's great because I fill my bookcases faster! Win win!
Yes I call thrift stores the missing pieces to the puzzles. In love them.
I luvv thrift store clothes...i use to be ashamed when i was a kid but now im a thrift store queen...so i enjoy going to thrift stores and consignment shops.
I loved the last outfit. You can paint the picture frames rose gold since you have rose gold accessories already. Great video!
I have heard of some dollar stores in the United States were clothing is a quarter or $1 but where I live in New Jersey a charity shop is the same as where you are except it is called a consignment shop. Absolutely loved EVERYTHING 💕👍

I definitely liked this video Raven loving the grey dress and the fact that where you shopped goes into helping others awesomeness 😊
Thank you for the reminder of the Charity shops. When i come to the U.K. I can include them on my shopping trips. 🖒

It’s from fashion nova x
Lol,your jorts(jean shorts) are cute
I wouldnt feel weird wearing clothes that have been worn by others. We call them mtumba in Kenya. Hehe. Second hand clothing has made people rich
Jane Cate Irungu lol! I know right?
Not weird at all. In Ghana we call It "Forse ". And it is what most of us grew up wearing. Cool stuffs.
Kenyans mtumba grosses you out 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
vera phoebe hahaha. How? Most of the clothes here are second hand. If any Kenyan tries to tell you they have never worn Mtumba they will be lying. Hehe. Its the reason why a business venture of sellimg second hand clothes, shoes and bags is very profitable.
Linda Odhiambo hehe. Mtush ni everything. Hehe
American thrift shops do have good stuff. And they are very cheap. It's depends on where you go. Some have a better selection than others .
loved the last outfit the most
Ummmm please take me out and save my fashion sense!!! Your looks are so well put together & effortless!
Down wit OPP? Lol I haven't heard that in like forever. Girl you went back. I love thrift shops. I like to buy clothes and jewlery and repurpose them.
