I think the duel would have been better if Yugi had Buster Blader instead on Obelisk the Tormentor. Buster Blader gains attack for each dragon type on opponent’s side of the field and graveyard. Buster Blader would attack and Yusei would use Shooting Star Dragon’s effect to remove from play and negate the attack, then Yugi could attack with Dark Magician.
It's funny you say that. Buster Blader was in the original ending. Shooting Star negates his attack > Dark Magician attacks directly for game. I decided to change it for a few reasons. I thought it ended too similar to the Yugi vs Yusei live scripted duel. Yugi reviving a god to take on another protagonist mirrors Yugi and Jadens duel in GX, only Obelisk instead of Slifer. Also I wanted to have Yugi bring out a god against Yuseis ultimate monster and Obelisk not only counters Shooting Star Dragons targeting effect, but also deals the perfect amount of damage for the win.
