  • @chrislaico
    @chrislaico Рік тому

    You def touched on it a bit but just for a little bit of clarity for roller users...firstly, it's 100x easier to bhop with your crouch set to hold as well as having paddles/playing claw/mapping your jump to a bumper. When bhopping on controller it's super important to use your left stick to alter your momentum by pushing it fully to whichever side you're trying to or about to turn towards. Your right stick is used more as a guide to orient yourself in whichever direction you're trying to turn while the left stick changes your momentum. Somewhat similar to how A and D works on mnk. If you don't use the left stick to alter your momentum, and only try and do it with your right stick, you won't get those arcing half circles that allow for you to keep the most momentum. I learned how to bhop way back when before they nerfed the healing and it took me a little while to realize that the left stick is a really important aspect of doing it effectively. Hopefully my explanation isn't too convoluted and fantastic vide as always brotha ❤

  • @yurei9

    Just messed around with it for like 10 - 15 minutes, I don't think it's worth it for anything less than a phoenix. Medkit and shield batt are short enough to maintain about the same speed if you are good with regular Bhopping(maybe a 10 - 15 mov speed difference if you are a bit sloppy), phoenix kit though, it's hard to Bhop well enough to maintain that momentum for that long, so if you have a wall handy, why not. Also for people who Bhop well, 8 degrees is about what you'd alternate between left and right to go straight while bhopping, so the looking out method might come a bit more naturally. IF you could strafe OUT of the wall, and back in for a bit more speed then it might be worth it, but from what I can tell either the inputs are too tight, I'm not a good enough Bhopper, or it's just not possible.

    9:20 not sure how this game compares to Titanfall, but it was discovered you can eliminate lurch by holding both left and right to get a neutral input then releasing one key to move in the opposite direction. I wonder if this would reduce lurch even further than switching directional key right before landing?

    • @janmagtoast
      @janmagtoast Рік тому

      the time to lurch is only 0.4-0.5 seconds after jumping as far as i know. when you land that timer should already have hit 0. lurchless strafing is possible in apex but the value you get out of it is barely even noticable so it's not worth learning imo

    doing the math... 8 degrees, 35 degrees, (most likely 37), totalling 45. plus because you're entering another movement input, your total vector towards the wall when looking to the wall and pressing W is the same vector as looking away and not pressing W.
    Therefore, i bet you could do this looking at the wall at a certain angle and only pressing W and hopping. (granted W and hop doesnt have some built in speed reducer.) or any 45 degree equivalent angle with the respective movement keys pressed keeping your vector in relation to the wall the same.

    Can you do a speed test on climbing vs climbing from crouched position and jumping and crouching before a climb? It feels faster to me but I’m on console lol

    Это ещё в халф лайфе было, но не думал, что в апексе это тоже работает (хотя чему удивляться, движки то по сути те же).

    Do you also experience those ping issues where it just stays at ~240ms and never comes down until you change servers?

    I think there hasn't been a day of me playing and not using this tech. It's way to versitile. Had some great clutches with it
    edit: Also I wanna point out that there are even more ways to bhop. You can pretty much do it with all directional inputs. But I mostly use a/d and a/d + w. w alone can be handy in some fights too and a/d + s and only s are great to have in your movement toolbox, too but their usecase is far smaller.
    edit 2: i'd prefer wallhop-healing

      Felt like throwing this out there: in other source games (csgo,gmod, e.t.c) people call a/d + w hopping halfsideways bhopping. There is also sideways and backwards along with w-only though I don’t particularly know if the other variants are possible.

      @@thatothertrashcan as far as I know all 8 directions are possible (for controller that number would likely be way higher). I know a cs veteran who talked about while I was playing apex with him. And it matched up with what I experienced by myself. You just have to adjust the way you move your view. In some games some variations becomes really unusable. For example in cs:go you have to move your view ridiculously fast to airstrafe with w.
      also thx for throwing out the term halfsideway bhopping. havent heard that before :D

      I wouldn't call it wallhop healing because it doesn't exist only while healing, the tech is still possible without healing it's just not beneficial

      @@ariarimeowmeow there's a reason we call bhop-healing bhop-healing. I'm not talking about naming wallhopping wallhop-healing but when you wallhop while healing it's truely wallhop-healing aint it?
