FYI, Orson Welles did the original War of the Worlds radio broadcast on October 30th, 1938. I have always been fascinated with the history of that broadcast. He was well beyond his time...and was incredibly talented.
Great Video! I love the idea of giving the clerk a list and having them wait on you. Many would also deliver to you as well if you lived within a certain distance. I get my groceries delivered from Walmart, because I hate grocery shopping.
Such an awesome video. Brought back a lot of memories of things my grandfather would talk about when he grew up in Kentucky. Thank you so much for this adventure!
This is so exciting 😀 I hit the like button before watching -- It's like we can pop right in your car & go with you guys & have fun field trips ! Neat stuff to see & learn about - count me in! I'm subbed to all your channels. Can we get ice cream on the way back 'home'😉 Going to watch now.
NThis is the fitst time I have seen your channel n it is WONDERFUL how you showcased everything in this magnificent museum!!! I was born in 1957 n my family had all kinds of things like these products as I was growing up!!! My grandparents on both sides had MANY of these items, products, furniture, quilts, photos, etc. So it was awesome walking through this fabulous lost museum with you both!!! Thank you for sharing this GREAT place!!! Sm looking forward to seeing your "Haunted Hillbilly" channel, as that is also one of my family's favourites
"You'll Be The Last To Let Us Down" was a kind of tongue-in-cheek joke we would say about Morticians back when I was growin up in the 60's. In other words they were the one putting you in the ground or "Letting you Down". lol. I don't know where it came from or how far back, but it's like "People Just Dyin To Get In" when speaking about cemeteries. I have no idea the context in that little book, but that's what it was back in my time.
Great video Leo and Heather I found it to be very interesting to see how products were packaged and sold back in the day. Heading over to Haunted Hillbillies Thanks
I had to chuckle when Leo said he's actually pretty good with them yo-yo, made me think of Tommy Smothers of the Smithers Brothers being the YO-YO man. Just came across your videos and love them. Take care Heather and Leo.
My Great Uncle, Thurl Curry, used to smoke Kent cigarettes and I thought he was so cool because it had a filter. Daddy smoked unfiltered Camels and the neighbor smoked unfiltered Pall Malls. Hahahaha! ❤
Wonderful museum, thank y'all so much for showing this. Lot stuff before my time, seeing the first time. I checked but didn't see your other channel, Haunted Hillbillies.
I may be wrong but. I think it's the rings that they put in hogs nose. Too keep them from rooting. Thanks Leo and Heather for this interesting video. And have a Blessed day 👍
The coal carving is awesome. BTW if you listen close, when you went off on your own you can hear male voices in the back ground. They are faint but there and that was way before you mentioned the possibility of the bld. being haunted.
That old store they had set up was amazing, i have a ton of the same bottles and things as well i've found through the years.. I've only seen one med bottle from Stone and some coal scrip an ole boy had, but I have a ton of bottles from Pikeville..
This was a great visit. So many things I saw from my childhood. We always hated when mom would break out the mercurochrome or iodine. Dang that hurt worse than the booboos we got. Lol Good luck with your other channel. I'm sure it will a success like this one.
Did I hear you say you are going to be doing St Albans? The one in Radford Virginia? If you do get down this way, I'd love to buy you both a coffee, we have an amazing local coffee shop here!
This is so cool i love seeing old museums and historical buildings full of stuff. Just imagine once upon a time , that was a bustling thriving area/Dr's office / store and whatever else. Looks like it was a stop on the railroad too? Video was a little distracting/annoying with your wife talking in background tho lol but otherwise so cool. ✌🏼🤗
Frances Martha Hatfield smith was my mother. She along with her sister cordia Hatfield played guitar and sang at the Williamson WV radio station. They played during the time when Molly o’day was popular.
The woman in the picture in the case with a guitar Frances Martha Smith is my Grandmother ❤ it was very nice to see her in your video and hear her name. Thank you I am loving your videos.

Interesting video. Orson Wells narrated “War of the Worlds” in the late 1930 if I remember correctly. That big blue speckled pot is a canning pot. You two find some interesting places.
They were to keep the hogs from rooting out from under the fence and escaping. The rings were put throug their noses and uncomfortable when they tried 5o dig out.
Have you guys been to the WV Farm Museum right outside of Point Pleasant? I made a detour there while visiting the Lothian Museum a few years back and I enjoyed it more. The Mothman stuff around the area also sounds like a good fit for your other channel.
Hi Lisa I love your channel. Since you are a Bliss house official I'm thinking of purchasing a 11.5 inch reproduction kit and was wondering what scale they are. I would love to get your thoughts on this as to the kit. I want to say also I love hearing your birds. Could you show us what they look like and their names. ❤
You can contact the Red Robin Heritage Museum and make arrangements to visit. It's technically closed, but Bill will still let you go check it out. 606 237 5100
War of the Worlds air in 1938 without any commercials so people not catching the very beginning thought it was real and panicked. That is why so many people killed themselves that day.
cigarretts came in a pack, you took them out of the pack and put them in a hard case. Hog rings would be placed in the nose of the hog to keep them from digging. I was down in West Virginia years ago with friends at a flea market. I picked up a tool from a table. The man said if you can tell me what it is you can have it. I said, You clamp it in a bull's nose and you can lead him anywhere. He said it's yours. One of the ladies with me said can I have it I want to give it to my sister for her boyfriend.
Awesome video the hog rings was used to control larger animals.the farmer would pierce the animals nose if the got out of control.the person would grab the ring and twist it

Awesome video and cool place. Thanks for sharing
Awesome job guys! Loved it so much, especially the washmachine

I love ur stories and cemetary trips please keep telling them
"You will be the last to let us down" - I think they're refering to the casket being lowered after someone passes away :)

Hi, Heather! ❤

As they always do things have come full circle. When you order groceries from home someone picks it for you and has it ready at the front

If those walls could talk! 🥹
Very cool museum!
Frances Martha Hatfield smith was my mother. She along with her sister cordia Hatfield played guitar and sang at the Williamson WV radio station. They played during the time when Molly o’day was popular.
Hi mom ❤😊
All of the pictures of mothers and babies born in that building is timely for Mother's Day.
The woman in the picture in the case with a guitar Frances Martha Smith is my Grandmother ❤ it was very nice to see her in your video and hear her name. Thank you I am loving your videos.
War of the Worlds by Welles aired over the radio Oct. 30, 1938.

Wonderful!
I just subscribed to your other channel. Going to go those videos and get caught up. Lol. So excited. ✌&❤
We have much better stuff coming on it, thank you!
That was so cool!!
Hog rings were put through the pigs nose for identification I think. They weren't supposed to hurt or cause the pig any discomfort
They were to keep the hogs from rooting out from under the fence and escaping. The rings were put throug their noses and uncomfortable when they tried 5o dig out.
Thank you❤
You're welcome 😊
IGA grocery stores in the midwest were "do your own shopping" stores. My mother worked at one in the mid 1950's
Dose Heather have her own channel or facebook page
Have you guys been to the WV Farm Museum right outside of Point Pleasant? I made a detour there while visiting the Lothian Museum a few years back and I enjoyed it more. The Mothman stuff around the area also sounds like a good fit for your other channel.
Don't know what Lothian is. Autocorrect does lol. Should say Mothman
HAHA I mentioned someone sitting in "Santa's lap" in a message once. Spell check changed it, and sent it as sitting in "Satan's lap" LOL
The hog rings were for hogs noses to keep them from rooting.
Why did it close down? do you know?
It's still open on appointment. They just don't have many visitors
Love it washing machine
Hey! A box of box of nose rings or earrings! (Not kidding).
They would put rings in the pig's nose to keep it from rooting around .
What a cool place! I must be older than that museum, I remember when you could buy cigarettes for 25 cents a pack.
Hi Lisa I love your channel. Since you are a Bliss house official I'm thinking of purchasing a 11.5 inch reproduction kit and was wondering what scale they are. Hello, you put this on the wrong page somehow , sorry about that
Sorry
John Llwellyn Lewis was the president of the United Mine Workers of America.
War of the World's was performed and broadcast live at 8 pm ET on October 30, 1938 over the CBS Radio Network.
Pressure Cooker, sounds ominous
😂
Never knew this was there... When I come to visit my family in HUddy soon I'm going go. How long will they let you look around ?
You can contact the Red Robin Heritage Museum and make arrangements to visit. It's technically closed, but Bill will still let you go check it out. 606 237 5100
Cradle, embalming table, coffee machine : that place has it all from birth to death and everything in between. I hope it is preserved for posterity.
When is this place open
Dude I had to learn to use those adding machines in high school. I'm not 60 yet
War of the Worlds air in 1938 without any commercials so people not catching the very beginning thought it was real and panicked. That is why so many people killed themselves that day.
I guarantee the lard is no good I remember when smokes were .25 cents a pack and $ 5.00 would fill up ur tank almost.

Can you tell me who the music is by on the intro to this video, please? I would really love to have that.
Hog rings are ued to pierce pig's nose.Their purpose was to keep hog from rooting/digging to prevent escape!!!
Subbed Haunted Hillbillies
What is that opening song?
It's Nat Keefe with the bow ties - Dude where's my horse
Thanks.
There is an old joke that the undertaker will be the last man to let you down
HOG RINGS GO IN A HOGS NOSE SO THEY DON'T RUT UP GROUND.
