What I’m seeing is the Speccy in the last 20:years has done platform games, and scrolling shooters. But mostly platform games.
What happened to the great games of the past. Tau Ceti, Lords of Midnight, Elite, Decathlon. The strategy and simulation games?
These games look much better than 40 years ago, but gameplay has been homogenised quite a lot. Use your imagination developers. Please.
This is a fantastic video. Lots of fabulous games. I know you couldn't show every single game but I was a bit disappointed that my game 'Percy Penguin in the Present Palaver' wasn't in the video. I'd obviously recommend it LOL :D

This is an excellent video. It is the type of video that I was looking for relating to the Spectrum Next. You know what, though? I couldn't find it by searching. It only randomly came up in my YT feed. I searched things like "new spectrum games" and "top spectrum games" and "games for spectrum next" and "games that push the limits of spectrum" etc, etc, etc. Nothing. Zilch. You may be missing out on traffic because of this. It might help, if you haven't already done it, to blast the keyword section of this video with all possible combinations of words that describe this video... because something funny is going on when this video doesn't come up in the first few hundred search results from what I searched. Anyway, just thought I should mention it.

This is not supposed to be any kind of complete video list for all games from 2004-2019, I have stopped with 100 games, and there is off course many many more. Careful interrupt timing and changing colours according to the (virtual) raster beams position. Some of this magic can also be seen in some other games, e.g. the screens between levels in Action Force 2.
How many games on this list are 48K compatible? ZX 128 is quite different platform in comparison, large RAM makes a lot of advantage for various tricks (algorithms) not achievable on stock 48K machine. And of course, there is sound chip in addition on 128 machine.
Great game write in assembler. So programmer are bigger brain. Almost superior engineer.
