I think you really love this knife - it’s inexpensive everyday knife with no bells and whistles / maybe little heavy but it just works - cold steel getter done
Never took this knife seriously but it looks like it has a place. BladeShow West in Portland was fun if kinda rinkydink. But I always love visiting the city, picked up some great builds, and even swung by Voodoo donuts! Nice to see you back, and once again thanks for helping to douse Cali. A lot fewer acres have burned this year but it's still been bad.
Excellent, curious as to what you picked up. Including the donuts! I think this knife is exceptional. Great ergos as the clip is completely out of the way when choking up, including the other benefits. The blade is perfect for its intents. Still planning on another Cal call but we'll see. Slow year, which is good unless you've been affected by the blackouts!
@@greatnorthwest667 I've been into slippies lately so I got an amazing piece from Nick Timpson (Birdvis Knives) who does stuff much like Jared Oeser. I also got the Monterrey Bay Laconico EWC which uses a liner detente that keeps the knife safely open without locking. And a few vintage lovelies as well. As for the donuts I went traditional and got a jelly & a chocolate raised.
@@davidmarshall7752 I checked those knives out, look pretty cool! I've always liked the slip joints, including the vintage types. Even Swiss Army knives. Have one on me now. And you can't go wrong with traditional donuts.
I prefer that handle material to G10, which is overrated in my opinion anyway. I took the cold chisel to the side of the Voyager, no marks, scratches or anything. Do that with the G10 , and you'll see lots of damage. Plus the Voyager's handle material is lighweight, compared to G10, which is heavy. And I also hammered on the spine of the Voyager Large CP, it held up fine. Very tough knife and lock.
Just ordered one - in the mail - I look at this blade and compare to my recon 1 XL and the blades aside from size are the same shape - but the voyagers have excellent handles
@@greatnorthwest667it’s been three years - don’t know if you already got the tanto but if your interested - the tanto version of this knife in the fully serrated configuration is great for cutting through almost anything - especially leather or rope
I have a voyager xl and the handle is so strong I can grab it with 2 hands and try to bend in any direction with all my strength and it doesn’t move at all I mention it’s an xl because I can hold it with both hands so I should be able to bend with way more force and leverage than a medium or large voyager but still it doesn’t even flex at all
The Voyager is very underrated , as far as woods , tactical , and self-defense , it's untouchable at around $50.00 and is better than knives 2 & 3 times the money . I have both the BD-1 and AUS-10 models and the AUS-10 is definitely an upgrade in edge retention and is better than D2 imo. I also have a few Voyager Tanto's , and they are nice knives , but the hollow grind isn't as slicey as the Code 4 . The Voyager is basically ffg , Recon 1 , made with budget materials, if CS made a Sprint Run of the Voyager with a linerless g-10 handle and a S35VN blade , like the Recon 1 , WOW , that would be a great knife , and people would notice it then , and definitely give the Recon a run for its money . Cold Steel are you listening !!!
I definitely agree. The knife is incredible in ergos and blade geometry. I ran out of ways to try to explain that without being too redundant. Fix that pocket clip and we are in business!
sorry to be so off topic but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my account password. I love any tips you can give me.
@Tripp Giovanni thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Than the Crooked River? I think the crooked river is the better knife all around except cutting performance. I think they are are par with each other in that regard. However, given the price difference, and the fact the voyager is definitely an excellent knife I would buy the voyager and not worry about the benchmade has in other categories.
I used to love Cold Steel Knives. But the service and quality under GSM is horrible. I will not under any circumstance ever purchase another cold steel knife
Voyager one of the best pocket knives ever

Excellent choice. Great all around blade shape, geometry, and handle ergos.

voyagers liners are aluminum. Not sure how i feel about that. Would ideally see skeletonized steel
Good points. I'm not sure either but it seems to keep the weight down and it is a non flexing knife which I appreciate. It also hasn't shown any rust.

Is the voyager in aus10a resistant to corrosion and rust?

This is the best knife I have ever had. Carry it 365 days a year.
The only thing I don't like on that knife is that pants ripper pocket clip 😂😂
It takes part of your pants and keeps it every time!
Bend the pocket clip
So your saying the bench made costs more but does not perform better than the voyager for everyday carry ?

Cold Steel.... ☝️💯‼️
YEAH BABY ‼️
This knife is known to cause cancer in the state of Kommiefornia ⚔️
That actually is probably true.
