First just have to say, I've watched this video like 3 times now so thanks for the entertainment. I just snapped up a used dr650 and adore it. Trying to get some ideas for suspension as this bike has cogent front and rear set up for someone around 200lbs. I'm 150 so it's a bit stiff 👀 but probably still better than stock. Love the idea of having a board rack but I have a decent stretch of highway between me and the beach.. seems kinda sketch

I went with the FCR pumper carb from MX Rob when I first put it on when the carb was pre-set for upstate New York air it was a beast after a couple years started running a little crappy and I let to many people mess with the car adjustments I had another local shop do a tuner on it and I lost at least 15 hp I got to get it back sorry if there’s any typos talk to text
I have the same wp shock you guys sell sitting on the shelf in my garage. Was anything major needed to fit it? What spring did you guys use? In the middle of swapping an rmz450 front on atm. Ive got a 19 690 thats decked out and want to compare them side by side. If the dr650 is even close... ill be selling the 690. Any tips are appreciated!
@dirtbikeplug I do, measured it and compared it to the Dr 650 shock. Looks like the clevis matches at 30mm. The top is thinner and will need spacers... wondering it they cut and drilled a new hole on the clevis or shortened internally or what.
Honestly, sounds nice, i have a dr650 myself but i will be honest. I could not dump that kind of money into it. Its a bike better accepted for what it is imo. Basically id sell it and buy a 501 or ktm 690. You could dump 5k into a dr650 and still wont be as good as a ktm690…. If your looking for a bike to push and ride hard on youll find out this aint it. Riding and cruising normally you wont have a problem. If you push it you will find its short falls in more than one area.
Dr650 is for someone who wants to ride to other parts of the globe they are more reliable then the huskies yet personally yes I would buy a 501 and dump 10k into it!

Got it installed but need to put a spacer in the shock because it's too long. How did you avoid the top of the resivour from hitting the frame?

Does the WP front and work with the stock DR650 wheel and caliber?
No we have a Showa fork set that does. The wp allows brembo and even larger forks which also matches the rear shock kit.
