    So beautiful. I grew up in Romanian orthodox churches that used “toaca”. What a holy sound.

    We call it To Talanton, 🇬🇷it's made from wood 🇬🇷
    It's symbolic ✔️ they play it inside the 💠monastery when they want to call monks to go inside the church 💠for the Holly prayers ✝️🕯️☦️
    And at the dinner.
    Simantron its made from iron.🇬🇷

      According to Maria Voutsa's dissertation, Semantron or Xylon is a long wooden surface that is struck with mallets. Perhaps the one metal-made may be a variation of the same instrument. Both would be Struck Idiophones in the Hornbostel-Sachs classification. DOI:

    Amazing!! (just like the hypocrisy of these guys later condemning shamanic and other trance-inducing drumming in ancient and modern music)

      It’s not trance inducing, it’s a call to prayer.

      @idfk_vfx Рік тому +2

      @@ostrov3180 yeah, I've somewhat changed my mind on this over the 2 years. Plus I was way too agressive in that comment. I know it is a call to prayer, but what's the point of the rythm, tho?

      @@idfk_vfxI can only assume the drummers wanted to add some beauty and musicality to it
