Honestly I miss this version of Thor. Thor 1 was more serious while Thor Love and Thunder was over the top silly. Thor Ragnarok I think hit the sweet spot.
I like their love story but it was no happy ending. God Butcher is not a worthy title for Gorr but a Lover Butcher. I watched all Thor movies, then finally Gorr showed up then put an end in the realm of love of Thor. Jane Foster will always be remembered from the name "Thor" .
This may be an unpopular opinion but I always felt we didn;t need the montage in Thor 4 . It was very obvious why they broke up from watching Thor 1 and 2. Thor was just an awful boyfriend, always leaving her to save the world and she was always worry about him dying which don't make for a healthy relationship. Yet you can feel how much they love each other despite how bad their relationship is. This is why I didn;t like the montage. I think having a scene of just Thor talking about how much he love Jane and all the pain he cause her which made her dump him would be enough. Not some silly scene of them fighting over her job and his job which make their love story feel so cheap rom com and not something deeper and darker which it always was. For a MCU fantasy type movie I wish they stuck to the original concept. Then when he finally lose her, he finally realize how she felt all those years thinking he may die at any minute and he was such an awful boyfriend. THis is the love story plot we got in THor 4 not just them meeting again from some bad break up due to work. Then her hiding stuff from him and dying. Like we never got to see scene of him reflecting on his relationship, her reflecting on the relationship, and them just really bonding from pass time. It was bam she got cancer and gonna die and now Thor don;t want it. It just seem more shallow IMO.
Didn't he come back to Earth at the end of Dark World? And after that there was no mention of Jane till Ragnarok. So it makes sense to explain what happened that lead to their breakup despite him moving to Earth for her. Also, it's not like he didn't give her time on purpose. "Always leaving her to save the world" umm...hello? He is a God, an heir, an Avenger, it's his JOB to save the world. Despite that, it's obvious that he was smitten with her. Just from that one dialogue where he says he remembers the exact time since they broke up proves that he really felt for her. Then of course there's the enchantment he put on Mjölnir to protect her. Forget all that, he gave up his riches and throne just to live with her and give her time. And he's still a bad boyfriend? Speaking of that montage, it was necessary because we all wondered why exactly they broke up. At the end of Dark World he left Asgard, and then mentions Jane directly in Ragnarok. Nobody knew what happened in between, so this was needed.

I understand your point. However one of the basics in filming is whether it's a prequel or a sequel, a film should be able to stand alone which is why they have to show a montage. The pure purpose of the montage is for people who have never watched or those who have forgotten the specifics of the previous movies. The montage should be there to support the movie and the plot. I'm a marvel fan, have watched all the movies and have read some of the comics. I know some people hate Love and Thunder but I am fine with and I enjoyed it. I also ended up liking it. Makes me want to watch the previous movies again. Their relationship may seemed toxic but I want to believe that their characters have grown and matured. SPOILER It's sad that Jane died. I love Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, I love her in scientist roles (side eye Annihilation). Anyways when they made the statue of her as her Thor instead of just like Dr. Jane Foster I was a little miffed…in my head Culver University has a statue dedicated to Dr. Jane Foster. Also Skaarsgard is a fun Selvig.

Fortunately Hemsworth has really developed and can continue to portray this character amazingly well given the right script/direction (some comedy but give it a break ffs!).
