😮 wow my Jersey friends bonjour what a lovely well maintained pad this castle is 👍I didn't think the bed of nails looked inviting lol 🤔 can you imagine who had to light the fire and how much wood to be hauled up the stairs that was my job getting the water hot for Mam and dad coming home from work the daily mirror cought fire every time lol well thanks so much for the 📷 all the best John 😊😊
Fair play to you John! Kids nowadays don't believe you when you tell them that you used to get a bath once a week! Mind you......there was a fair amount of quite pungent people about! 😂🤣😂🤣 As you say, you would need a lot of fuel to keep those fires going! 🔥🔥🔥
What isn't mentioned as we roam around is the amount of remodeling work that this place has undertaken. The fire place is a classic example of the kind of reworking I'm alluding to here. The top floor fire place is arched like the rest of the columns we see. Putting in the false wall creates the cavity they're calling a flue. The ground and first floor fireplaces are aesthetically unappealing modern constructions and made of newer stone. Can you imagine how hot a fire that big would reach? Your wife wouldn't get within ten feet before her polyester dress bursts into flames!

Lots to see there, Tom. I do love exploring an old castle!😊
Thanks Sheila, I'm pretty sure that place would have been so drafty in the winter. I bet it was freezing even with those big fires going! 😁👍🏼

Yes, thanks so much for pointing this out because I confess that none of that had occurred to me! 👍🏼
