I am a great fan of the South Bank. Much of it was built for the festival of Britain in 1951 and it is a lively area at any time of day and any time of the year. Often there is live music going on too. The statue is of Lawrence Olivier I think by the National Theatre. Sure, having a professional club would help them develop somewhat better players. But at the end of the day we're talking about a country with a population that can fit in a medium sized stadium. There's not much you can do with that. Even Iceland has more that 10 times their population.
