  • Scott Pelley first reported on Webb, the largest and most expensive instrument ever flown and a hundred times more powerful than the Hubble telescope, just days before it launched in December 2021.

to be honest, I'm not even sure if we even know what 5% of our universe is like. I'm not a scientist, so I don't know, but it's incredible to see what Webb is giving us.

When they show us photos of our galaxy, its just a guess, we've only ever taken 1 photo of earth from the edge of our solar system and that was 30+ years ago, gotta be more out there, unfortunately I won't be around to witness it 😢

You know I really do understand the scientific reasoning for this. If we can do such wonderful things as this, we should be able to figure out how to feed and house every person on earth.

The only thing that failed in the deployment was the set of switches to confirm that the heat-shield had deployed properly. There _was_ no confirmation that the heat-shield had extended and tensioned correctly. The concerns about whether it had deployed were answered, after a few anxious hours, by the engineers monitoring the heat-shield temperatures - the temperatures of the shields and the rates at which they were cooling could only mean that the entire heat-shield had deployed correctly.

Basically all the stars we can see by eyes are within our galaxy, so the earliest we can see back is less than 100k years, but other galaxies we can make out are much further than that.

0:34 Be advised: The 'let there be light moment' occured between 240,000 and 300,000 years after the big bang and it wasn't a cold dark universe earlier, but rather hot and dense.

Existence just spent 240,000 years looking for the light switch.
Now I am _very_ excited for space gravitational detectors (in effect 'gravity' space telescopes) that can pierce through the plasma wall that light couldn't. Maybe then we'll see much closer to the initial state of the universe and maybe also the insides of black holes.
LISA is expected to launch in 2037, which is a step towards that.
Very exciting times we live in.

No doubt there are other life forms in this observable universe. The question is how advanced they are…
Imagine there’s no advanced life forms within 400 light years from Earth. And if those advanced civilizations exist, I think they’re watching us like the marching ants on the ground.

Is NASA looking for a trip to Darkness? Or is NASA want to Snoop around God's creation. There's the moon but the UFOs say,, stay away go that way,, the other way around into infinity. They know you'll never get there anyways.😂

*❗Citizens of the United States and other NATO countries should know that your governments supply weapons to Ukrainian militants. Who have been shelling peaceful Donetsk for more than 9 years. The Ukrainian army is shelling not only peaceful Donetsk, but also many other small towns. As well as the city of Belgorod and the cities of the Kursk region. The artillery of Ukraine does not spare anyone, neither women, nor children, nor peaceful housing, nor kindergartens and schools. The United States has supplied more than two million shells for army artillery alone. Not to mention other types of weapons. Including anti-personnel mines, which also affect children. Think about it!!! Are the destroyed Vietnam, Yugoslavia, Iraq, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan not enough for you!? And now Ukraine. If you believe your TV, then remember what happened 3 years ago. Do you remember what they told you when they locked you at home?!? If you want to be fools, then believe them further.*
