    Great review mate !! Solid XGT release from Makita, and made in Japan... sweet. As you said the compact size for this kind of tool is a big plus, It might be even smaller than Milwaukee's. Also it is quieter but I prefer the Hikoki's sound. I don't know why but I love the sound of their nailers :). Thanks for the review!

    Great review, thank you - this is a solid solid reason to get 40v as opposed to 18v and also to get 40v in addition to 18v.
    From my recollection there were reliability complaints on reviews on say the top 5 sites in the UK for selling the 18v version. It's all good when you register for 3 year warranty.
    Thanks for taking the time to film, edit and upload!
    Thumbs up.

    As a Makita fanboy i like Makita a lot, but i wonder if the whole 36 volt (40 volt max) isn't just a marketing ploy? I would love to know if these batteries arent just normal 18650 cells in series instead of parrallel?? So a 40 volt 2,5 ah would be exactly the same as a 18 volt 5ah...

    • @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL
      @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL  3 роки тому +5

    • @reaperreaper5098
      @reaperreaper5098 2 роки тому

      It’s not just a marketting ploy. Yes, the 2.5Ah XGT batteries are roughly equivalent to the 5.0Ah LXTs.
      However, Makita can bring more powerful tools and batteries in the XGT lineup since they don’t need to worry about making 21700 batteries backwards compatible.

    Excellent review as always. I recently bought into the 40V platform with a 4 piece combo. Full disclosure. I’m not Makita’s target audience for the more powerful line, more of a DIY type, but I convinced myself I needed it. Im sure most here can relate. I actually have a bunch of crown molding that needs to go back up after a recent remodel project. Im kinda dragging my feet waiting for this nailer to be available in the US. Don’t want to drag out the pancake compressor, knotted up hose and worn out POS nailer I have. Make haste Makita, time is of the essence. Starting to get dirty looks from the wife.

      I can indeed relate, Milwaukee fanboi here, been buying M18 for years now.
      I've been wanting a track saw for a while and a nice smaller than 10" cordless kind of do it all sliding mitre saw and the M18 7 1/4 just didn't cut it.
      I was going to buy into the Makita dual 18v line for those 2 tools until I saw XGT coming, like great now I have to wait even longer, but holy crap it was worth the wait.
      Got their epic hammer drill/driver combo, 8 1/2" mitre saw, track saw and just ordered a rotary, 9" grinder and inflator.
      I want to get this nailer and leaf blower too to replace the Milwaukee ones, and when released get the planer, air duster, 13" fan but omfg I've spent too much already....

    Issue with the 40v Makita - nails too short. Needs to go to 54mm for me to spend on it. But this driving mechanism seems underpowered for even 40mm, so I'm sure that's why they don't support longer nails. The Milwaukee I use on the other hand can shoot nails to the moon.

I've got matabo for job (usually you got a lot of nails to sink so setting up the compressor and never having to worry about power is fine) sites and picked up a cheap Ryobi (using Makita 18v adapter) for around the house stuff. Scoff if you want, but the Ryobi has yet to let me down. Great Vid nonetheless. Oh yeah, great bit on proper use. I was teaching my kid on how to use it and the nail never set properly --realized they were pulling the gun away as they shot the nail. It's not that obvious if you havent used one of these...

    This looks like a really good tool, always thought the hikoki looked WAY too big for a brad as you will need to get into tight spaces

    How has this been out for 2 years and I've never seen this nailer (or the LXT version) anywhere?

    Milwaukee seem to have the best nailers at the moment >Makita really has to better and cheaper

      I'm using 18ga in pretty small spaces often. This definitely has the edge over the Milwaukee for me.

    What is the difference between this model and the ‎GTP01Z? I noticed the ‎GTP01Z has a different vent layout design and us slightly cheaper.

    Thank you for all of your reviews sir, I recently just bought into the xgt platform after having Milwaukee for about a decade and after all of the milwaukee tools I’ve used the xgt stuff seems like their not even struggling to do any job. Think I’m going to start switching over to xgt and maybe some lxt

    Are you still happy with this tool? I need a brad nailer for finishing off furniture. You reckon I can get away with an 18v or are they as crap as people say they are?

    Hi mate, I bought one not long ago but it doesnt shoot nails below flush and I’m having to punch every one, even in normal soft pine, did you have this problem?

    I have the 18v and it’s great 👍🏻 👌🏻 Will get the 40v for the bigger nails I have never needed more than the 40mm nails so no dramas there

    Although Bosch might not be the most popular power tools brand but they do innovate a lot and we just take those innovations for granted.

    Do you think they’ll bring out an angle version? I have a angled paslode but hate it but like the angle it’s on. Find the straight guns can’t get in as many spaces.

    NICE!
    My battery brad nailers are huge (Senco and Dewalt) and I have to switch to air to run my Cadex gear in tight spaces.
    I do have the Makita 18V stapler and it's great. Ironically at the time of buying it I didn't have any cordless Makita gear (decades back I really hated the ergonomics and never went back) but now I've got a ton.
    I'm still on the fence about big volt gear (Dewalt v's Makita). It's effectively another battery system on top of the ~8 I have and the real irony here in relation to this video was that I was leaning towards Dewalt because of their battery compressor .. for the purpose of running my brad nailers and pinners!
    Thanks for the review.

    I'm in the market for a general purpose 18 gauge brad nailer, I can get either a Milwaukee M18 , Makita LXT ,or Ryobi. What would be your first choice tools?

    • @planespeaking

      That Makita seems a lot quieter than the Milwaukee. Ryobi is cheap brand.
