I have to disagree with you. Making Ra’s worst parts better does more than throwing stuff at his cool abilities we all already loved. Now you can still build him the old way, nothing is removed, but there’s also the option build him a new way. I think it’s very fitting for smite 2 to give us a whole nother build and play style just by tweaking his worst ability in that meaningful way.
Kinda being negative for the sake of being negative I think… his 2 is not bad at all in my opinion. Having the fancy autos is better than not having it no? And adding some auto attack variability to mages only allows you to change up your play style… idk I don’t really get the hate for it
I can see Incon's point. He's not complaining about added stuff being bad, but the way it is implemented. Ra is supposed to be the embodiment of an ability mage, a "sniper" if you so will whose damage potential lies in hitting a single high damage shot. He's never had anything to do with auto-attacks, so them adding special autos to his 2 feels out of place. Personally, I don't know how to feel about this. On the one hand, as Incon has already stated, even with the changes Ra is only "okay", so he definitely needed (or still needs) something to make him more interesting or versatile. On the other hand, Ra already felt so similar to Thoth in Smite 1 to me, both are birds who snipe. His 2 now just having Thoth's 1 but in auto-attack form plastered onto it muddles the distinction even further, at least in my opinion. I'd rather Hi-Rez add like a (sun)burn to his 1 or something like that, it wouldn't deviate so much from his old playstyle and keep him distinct from other gods.
Well the thing is if he paid any attention to the ability and he wanted "Oh its so funny it doesn't proc blah" It never anywhere said it would. . The attacks do not count as basic attacks. That is why it does not proc hasten, or poly or any of those. It counts as if it was an ability. That is why it procs Soul Reaver, Gem of Iso, Soul Gem ect. The only item it procs with is Sun Bow. Or w.e. the toggle item is. I don't watch the guy just doing some research but everything I hear about his videos is him just complaining about the game.
I used to love his videos, but lately it seems he looks for any reason to be negative. Like they didn’t make his other abilities worse, they only added onto him. You can still play his normal playstyle if you prefer.
I feel like a lot of these changes are trying to support gods in multiple roles. Once you accept that a lot of their changes makes sense. Athena in the jungle or support, Zeus in Carry or Mid. This is why they've gotta ride of the Mage/Hunter/Assassin categories. They don't want new players to think about the game that way. Smite 1 Ra only does one thing well, I thinks its a good idea for Hi-rez to attempt and diversify that. I think Ideally you should get 100% value from Long-Range Ra and like 70-80% value from Carry Ra, but of course they have to give the new role stuff a little extra juice to make sure it can work.
Ok Incon you say you haven’t seen Zeus in a millennia play some of my games he is everywhere; I feel as though for Ra they should add if the 1 and 3 collides it gives a burst damage beam to everyone inside the 3. It helps create flow with his kit and it helps his poke and burst damage.
The "piercing targets" means it doesn't stop on the first enemy hit. So you could also do damage to someone who is behind another enemy/objective. It still counts as an ability no matter how you look at it
If that is currently happening that is most likely just a bug with how it is tagged to count as a deployable. Similar stuff has happened with a few gods with Neith Weave, Danzo 2, and a few others. Will get worked out real quick.
I hear what you are saying with the additions just feeling added… they could make other smaller changed like Make ra ult have a root like huangs beam… or s small suck like baron ult when he inhales
Sounds like you should go back to smite 1 then instead of letting them be creative in smite 2. Hoping the devs don’t listen to you trying to suck the fun out of things 😂
I feel like the 2 should do what Nu Wa’s ult does by giving the longer range autos. The only thing I don’t like about that is that it overloads the 2 even more
Sobek ult should root people caught with the final damage imo. More in theme with the whole death roll of a crocodile. This would also give him some great follow up for a pluck rather than being a support with an execute. Ra going from a sniper to a shotgun mage probably feels bad. I guess they were really leaning into the flashbang Ra
Honestly, what they should do, is keep that 2 affect but make it less prominent. Like less damage.and all that. Then the ult should have 3 forms, holding for 1 second is full damage and max health%, 2 second is a little less damage and heals, and 3 seconds is a prot shred. Also the ult animations should kinda look like a slow motion death star shot
His ultimate kinda lacked in SMITE 1 tbh, so I'm glad it has a big effect now. Honestly, it's what I kinda wanted in SMITE 1 way back in the day. Might need rebalancing, but I'm a big fan of the idea.
@@ALittleMessi Don't see how a lake of alligators popping up and eating you translates better into a root than an execute. Doesn't make any sense at all. If you said knock up, I'd understand.
@revenge3265 Crocodiles, which is what Sobek is, and alligators perform death rolls on prey. In that death roll, you are not fucking moving. It makes thematic sense and the "ooh alligators gonna eat ya" angle with an execute is more lame imo. Lots of animals kill prey quickly, none of them drag you under water and quite literally rip all of your limbs off with sheer torque. As for a gameplay perspective it makes very little sense to have an execute on a support. It's the one role where taking kills is actively detrimental to your team. Instead if you make the end of it a root, Sobek now gets arguably the strongest cc in the entire game. You can potentially root all 5 enemies after slowing them. This also sets up perfect follow up for your own pluck as well as teammates. You could literally pluck someone, ult, and pluck again. The lock down on both solo targets and teamfights would be insane. You can then hand feed your carries the kills instead of needlessly taking them yourself. I do not see any argument for Sobek having an execute holding weight tbh. If you want to make it a knock up fine, it doesn't really matter. Either way giving him massive cc on that ult especially with shit like blink makes him a huge threat.

Sobek having execute makes sense, he's an Alligator/Crocodile they seem very execute[esque]

Literally could not finish the video, the negativity is so much.
I like this change gives you faster clear and when someone dives you you can punish them. Also gives more flexibility. great job on the dev team

That honestly makes more sense to me as a change than the autos on his 2. That way it's almost like Neith's weaves
The "piercing targets" means it doesn't stop on the first enemy hit. So you could also do damage to someone who is behind another enemy/objective. It still counts as an ability no matter how you look at it
It shouldn't do damage to tower then(if that's actually what happened)
I think it’s a cool touch but when they balance damage builds I think it will balance iut
6:20 Yeah I’m getting old man yelling at cloud vibes. But hey if they start building Ra with rings and hastened in duo, then I will forfeit.
Fun fact: Ra's 1 will block a Sobek pluck... because... reasons.

back in my day, ability mages focused on their abilities
Well good thing there are no mages here
Freya and Chronos beg the differ.
How do I turn off the auto level? I can’t find that button
In game settjngs
Sounds like you should go back to smite 1 then instead of letting them be creative in smite 2. Hoping the devs don’t listen to you trying to suck the fun out of things 😂
So Ra went from being a sniper to a shotgun kinda
More like a sniper with a back up Pistol.
I feel like the 2 should do what Nu Wa’s ult does by giving the longer range autos. The only thing I don’t like about that is that it overloads the 2 even more
Wow so many comments, hell yeah brother
So like, Ra is Freya now?
God that sounds horrid
Not exaclty but sorta. Freya will be able to crit. lol.
Such a menace lol

I was looking forward to ra coming to smite 2, but making ra an auto attacker is eww
This game is already dead
Not a fan of smite 2 Ra’s 2 being his best ability either
Edit: Wait, Sobek ult executes now? Why? For what reason?
Shit ultimate in smite 1

They could have just made Sobek ult root on the final damage. Makes way more sense
