The CDI370 is much nicer but a lot more money but had to own one of these but could not find a working one so this was the result hard work but nice to see it up and running again
I recently found a 350 myself on eBay. Waiting for it to arrive but this was a great video to set myself up for if I get into any of these problems! The portable CDI’s are definitely very interesting systems. :)
@@TheVetUk yeah I figured that is a very common case. I just received it in the mail and the disc spins a little bit and stops when I put a game in. By chance, do you happen to know where this discussion is taking place?
I have just recapped my 350 and changed the timekeeper. The screen now appears but it’s purple, any ideas what it could be? I noticed you cleaned yours with ultrasonic, do you think that I should try this as well? Thanks
Hi I would check the type, polarity of the caps you fitted first I remember some being bipolar be careful you have the correct types installed as it will suppress your video signals if incorrect also go over the caps to make sure you have none shorted I always give stuff a good clean when finished but not essential you could give it a good clean with IPA it’s just good housekeeping and helps neutralise any cap juice residue Let me know how you get on Does it read CD’s as most are dying now I have just read today there’s a guy doing CDI optical drive emulation so hoping I could add this to my 350 if it’s compatible Good luck 👍
@@TheVetUk thanks for message. I will check over all the caps to ensure that none are shorted. I purchased a kit from Console5 so all caps are correct inc the bipolar ones. Cd unfortunately not working, tries to spin and stops so will need to replace pickup as well once picture has been resolved.
