LMAO! My MIL has been painting on things like this for years... wooden hat boxes, purses, kitchen cabinets, even a bathroom floor! I love you guys so much and enjoy watching you. My Liquitex clear gesso is white in the bottle but has always dried clear. Hope you’re having fun on vacation. ❤️
well in all fairness that winsor newton stuff was probably 20 yrs old. I have a closet full of stuff like that I think i will use someday and never do. Art hoarders dilemma.
You will have the best dressed luggage around! I love the idea, and I adore the finished product. You are going to get so many compliments and questions on this fabulous luggage. You may have to start your own line of luggage! Then on to purses, wallets, shoes.... Ha ha. Have a great vacation.
Real life of an artist......I have a variety of tools also that I attack frozen up lids and caps with....I just love your conversations with Jon and your videos !.....Don't ever stop ! Keep'em coming !
It looks wonderful! It’s always charming to watch you both, lol enjoyable.. 😄. I watched the video two days ago & can’t wait to paint it 😊. I painted my luggage several yrs ago & it made it so much easier to find in airports and created many delightful conversations that otherwise may not have happened ☺️ Have a great vacation. Thank you for sharing, Chris
Love this bird. I have painted on my luggage many times. I have painted horses, flowers, bees, etc! I am going to have to try a Macaw! You make it look so easy!
Thanks for this lesson. I have wanted to paint on my black suitcases for ages. It will make them a lot easier to find with such a personal touch there will be no mistaking who's bag it is. Hope you two are having a nice break.
I really love the suitcase and it is really eye catching from a distance. Here is the link to the step by step of the parrot on my website. www.gingercooklive.gallery/lesson/ytl-colorful-parrot-live-lesson-youtube/
Awesomeness!! Two fabulous suitcases!! No wonder you get a lot of compliments!! Also great fun to hear you two talk and I feel like I am there with you!! Wish you a fabulous trip to Cuba!! Artsy hugs!!
Thanks for the great luggage tutorials. You inspired me to paint our 20+ year old black luggage. I painted travel pictures using some old airline and cruseline posters, but put my own spin on them. Waiting for the varnish to dry now - pack tomorrow - leave Monday! Thanks again!
Really fun to have a custom bag and you know if you bought one it would be very expensive and probably not half as nice as what you could paint yourself.
That is the coolest! I have a suitcase my Mom got when she graduated in the 50's. It is a dark blue. I think I will put one of these paintings on it. I use it for storage. Kind of heavy to carry on a plane. lol Thanks so much! Big ART Hugs to you both. I hope you are having a great time! If I smoked Cuban cigars I would say smoke one for me. I don't smoke anything. lol :D
Can't wait to see it. Really love mine and it has been great. I shot this about 6 months agos and many trips later it still looks brand new (airplanes and all)
At first, I thought, why? But now I see that this would actually be pretty cool. Also, the method could be applied to so many other objects as well. Computer laptop case, garage sale furniture finds, a stiff handbag, and more.
Hi. Artist G.C. I am watching you pretty Painting of colourful Parrot. Sure I will try. Thanks 🙏. I am watching Artist Cinnamon, your pretty Daughter's video. Her video, blue background on a girl covered head with deep red cloth.. Zz.
I love this! Ginger, I have a question. You have mentioned in past videos about how you print out the reference photo on a printer that you pay per number of photos. Can you tell me what the name of the service is? Or do you buy the printer outright? My printer is horrible right now and does not give good color prints, but I really need to work from reference photos as my eyes just can't focus on all the different distances. Thank you in advance!
Yes these are HP printers you can find on Amazon You pay under $5 every month and they send you ink before you run out and you can print your entire allotment in color they don't care. Super deal for artists. I think its over 200 prints a month. To the 8720 HP Printer that Jon and I use. www.gingercooklive.gallery/hp-officejet-pro-8720
Well we just decided to record when ever I paint in case it might be useful... so in a way you are right. Jon just didn't edit out the odd stuff as he thought people might really enjoy seeing how it really is around our studio. LOL
no but you can go to my Pinterest page and print it out. here is the link to our website too. www.gingercooklive.gallery/lesson/ytl-colorful-parrot-live-lesson-youtube/
Please have your supplies out and ready for instant use. I don't like watching 4 minutes of you trying to find your supplies. Talk to us as you paint. Call out the colors you are choosing as you switch paints. You are speaking to beginners. Let them know why you are changing colors or changing the subject matter. An hour of silence is not teaching.
See I was not really intending this to be a lesson, I was just painting a suitcase, and Jon films everything. and he posted it. If you wanted a step by step on how to paint a parrot may I suggest You watch this one; www.acrylicpaintingwithgingercook.com/courses/parrot-of-the-caribbean-introduction/ Or this one we did a few weeks ago on UA-cam. www.acrylicpaintingwithgingercook.com/courses/sunset-parrot-tutorial/

At first, I thought, why? But now I see that this would actually be pretty cool. Also, the method could be applied to so many other objects as well. Computer laptop case, garage sale furniture finds, a stiff handbag, and more.
Hi girlfriend looking forward to this one xxxx
Ths one is really fun large. It goes with all the nice bright colors you like to paint.
Hi. Artist G.C. I am watching you pretty Painting of colourful Parrot. Sure I will try. Thanks 🙏. I am watching Artist Cinnamon, your pretty Daughter's video. Her video, blue background on a girl covered head with deep red cloth.. Zz.
Awesome!
thanks James. I like that this and the other video I will be putting up today are pictures for either gender. Just elegant in their own way.

Thank you so much! :)
Was it just normal varnish ginger , or yatch varnish ??. My husband has yatch varnish that he uses for outdoor subjects !!☺️
It was liquitex gloss medium and varnish 3 coats
At first i thought they were already recording without knowing!! Lol
Well we just decided to record when ever I paint in case it might be useful... so in a way you are right. Jon just didn't edit out the odd stuff as he thought people might really enjoy seeing how it really is around our studio. LOL
yes i do love it
2 minutes in and already a rip roaring comedy. :)
thanks so much we had a blast
Lol!!!! So funny!!!! We love yall!!!!
I just love watching you guys. The "Ginger and Jon" show never fails to put a smile on my face. You two are like a "new age" Burns and Allen team. :)
Carol Hayes I do too!!! And we get stunning paintings as icing on the cake!!!
Beautiful!!!!
My theory is the company that made the medium was expecting you to be painting it on a white canvas, in which case it would seem to have dried clear.
I think you may be right, however my jar was about 20 yrs old.... a hoarder thing I have with art supplies. LOL
Is there a free traceable?
no but you can go to my Pinterest page and print it out. here is the link to our website too. www.gingercooklive.gallery/lesson/ytl-colorful-parrot-live-lesson-youtube/
Thank you ginger!!
Do you have to kill the bird first 😂😂😂
Well we used to have (my ex husband used to have) 4 blue and gold Macaws and let me tell you they make such a racket I thought about getting a cat...
