- A shorter list this week as I couldn't find 10 Fey monsters that really interested me in D&D 5e (there's a pretty short list overall). So I grabbed a mixture of ones I like, thought were cool and had interesting lore/abilities. What's your favorite fey monster in D&D 5e?

The idea of a mad cap band hating a shape like a circle is making me giggle. Like having the party come across a group stranded on the side of the road with their cart stuck in mud because they made wheels with straight edges to “end the oppression of other shapes but defeating the circle”. I’m going to find a way to put them in my campaign now!
Boggle are really my favorite Fey. In my game, I use them in a None-combat situation. The group just enter the Hag lair by an hole on the ground between roots of an old tree. They are following the trail of a pregnant women kidnapped by the hag. I put multiple traps at the entrance and moving between roots wasn't easy. During their progress between roots and traps, they get sneakly "ambush" by Boggles. The Boggles actually never attack the players but they start unleashing their boots, greaves, belts, bags and gold pouch with the Dimensional Rift between roots. With Oil puddle one root become sticky when the other is slippery. Boggles are out of reach for the players during all the entrance section so they cannot engage them in combat, so they have to progress with them trickering them.
It's crazy how this simple Fey use properly can transform a boring trap situation and roll for acrobatic check for progression into a memorable situation.
a new adventure module set in the feywild and dealing with the courts would be fun and creepy like Shakespeare midsummer night's dream meets Alice in wonderland. With loads of fey/elven themed magic items, a few new subclasses and loads of new monsters could be awesome

Fey and Celestials are underepresented in 5e
Ya it seems like everything is an undead, an animal, a monstrosity, an aberration, or a fiend
Its because not many player parties are playing an evil campaign
@@hopefulmayhem5744 yes, but they're usually not the world consuming genocides that aberrations or undead can be. Their evil is less world threatening I guess

Two words: Global floods. Also seven plagues etc.
If a celestial thinks you are, by its own standart, evil or a lost cause they can call a crusade on your civilisation. I mean you wear mixed fibers and eat shellfish or worse meat on a friday.
With fey ... i still want to see more neutral and evil fey (shadowfell) or good alligned asshole fey.
Like the "you get this great boon but i get your child" type.
Also "fey" animal spirits, like reynard/kitsune. The totem-animals of the barbs could work or the Ravens of Odin.
@@melvixen1943 Oh, I absolutely agree with celestials being terrifying world-ending threats if they so desire, I was mostly thinking about fey I guess
I miss the Sidhe from Tall Tales of the Wee Folk. Best sourcebook from any DnD edition.
Personally, I like the redcap. Something about a murderous garden gnome makes me giggle.
A group of madcaps that hare the color red. Darkvision doesn't let you see color, so they'd have to live deep in a cave or dungeon with no light. They start attacking the party, but then realize their allies are red and start attacking the "traitors".
So you too have a deep appreciation of the flicker pup; I see you too are a man of refined taste! I had some players in a group encounter a displacer beast and then had some strobe hounds join in the fight. (Two players were absent that night so they needed the help.) One of the bamf canines followed the party for the rest of the session. When the other players returned for the next session the intermittent good-boy companion left the party. I didn't plan on that being such a sad moment, but it was.

Boggles make great trolls. I had one always carry a metal ring (maybe some spare folded ones) so it could drop the ring over its head to teleport like a disappearing act. Makes a good escape plan.
Definitely a lack of hags and quicklings.
I also see making a Valenar Cat with lie detection so you can have your own Lying Cat.
The serious lack of Fey, Celestials and Plant creatures in 5e is saddening. Maybe one day we'll get a Beastlands or Feywild module and they'll add new Fey, Celestials and Plant creatures or at least some variants. I mean there are like 4--5 Fey type Hags so why can't there be variants for other Fey creatures?

I didn't know about any of these and I just absolutely love the madcaps, those are just incredibly fun!
My mapcaps hate the sound of rolling dice IRL. Whenever a player rolls dice, the mapcaps become irritated at that players character, for no discernible in-game reason.
Madcap hating on bad jokes/puns.

I used a Boggle for an impromptu side quest/mystery when I was missing a player. They're fantastically thematic. Great for snitching items from players when they don't know what to expect. I lean into the aspect of Fey that different Fey are created by or attracted to strong emotions. This boggle was lonely and was attracted to a lonely little hoarder of a man. They were each other's only friend. It turned out to be a lot of fun.
When it comes to fey, I love oreads and dryads. Oreads are in the Theros book, and I'm glad they finally brought it over. Beyond that, I love korred (because command hair is crazy), and quicklings are nuts.
I want a blink dog for my Vengeance Paladin.
Could you do a top 10 fey monsters from earlier editions of D&D that you would like to see in 5e?
The Eladrin is my favorite pc race, and huge reason for that is the monster stat blocks in Mtof, I really vibe with the art and the whole fey aesthetic they give off. Im with you tho the elves/ fey lore is some of my favorite so I typically play elves just cuz I think they're neat.
A top 10 fey that you want to see in D&D 5e video
SAw the boggle and wanted to play a "I was reincarnated as a slime" type game. LVL up as a boggle into something else keeping your boggle skills seems NICE!
Would be cool to include an honorable mention section that could include third party and homebrew stuff. Great video though!

I have a question do you have the Tashas caldron previews from the dnd celebration interactive map. The map is gone and I would like to look at the pdf’s myself but can’t find them anywhere.
I used boggles recently and they spent most of The combat shoving and pushing the Pcs.

For the Mad Cap I had a funny idea, but what if what they hate is a contradiction. A group of Mad Caps that hate groups of people. Note they will be insistent if asked that they are not a group, but several individuals that work together for a common cause. They will never be convinced that, that is the definition of a group
I can picture a group of mad caps getting furious at the number 3. I mean, it's not a W, or, M, or E... instead it decides to go off about some elitist number crap, and it can't be seen with "common letters". I say spelling's too good for it. We gotta put this uppity letter back where it belongs!
Side Note: have the mad caps in a multiple of three without them realizing it for added fun

In regards to the comment about elves.... personally I don't like elves....or dwarves or halflings or gnomes. To me they are all just humans that someone stapled a different history to. If I'm playing a not human race I'm picking a weird animal person or a dragon man or a shapeshifter or a goblin or something crazy.
Yeah...... fey a criminally under utilized in 5e.

@@NerdImmersion I get why you would say that but out of the different ways to ask for subscribers by telling them how many % is not subscribed is not a good one.
I also just now realize I wrote my first comment wrong (sorry for that), I was aiming at the "x% of you is not subscribed tactic". Not reminding people in general ( that one does indeed help so in that you are right).
Still it sounds like a "if you are not subscribed than what are you doing here" to me and it really grinds my gears
I watch his videos all of the time. They are such a great resource. And when he pointed it out that I was in that %, I realized that I should subscribe because I watch so much anyway. So it worked on me.
