    You know I love pico, and now you can make a massive batch of pico in a fraction of the time thanks to the Breville Sous Chef 16 Peel & Dice. This is a pretty high quality machine and it comes with tons of attachments which I will show you in this video. It dices, slices, juliennes, makes french fries, shreds and grates, and even peels potatoes.
    Turns out the additional dicing kit comes free if you register your device online with Breville. Silly me.

    I know your video was published two years ago. I wanted you to know that your review was so helpful in making my decision to purchase this expensive and awesome food processor. I've been eating whole foods, plant based for almost 5 months now and slicing and dicing was starting to wear me down. I knew in order to make my dietary changes last longterm, I needed help and this processor is it! It just came today and I've put it through it's paces. I absolutely love it!

      how is the cleanup? I have a vegetable chopper that I don't feel saves me time because of the cleanup and this seems similar.

    • @createwithconfidence8094
      @createwithconfidence8094 2 роки тому +5

      @@CarolinaFlorezCoaching I run a sink of soapy dish water. I place the pieces in the water and swish the pieces around the water. I may use a paper towel to wipe around the bowl to ensure it gets clean. But I usually just use my hands and fingers. I rinse and lay out the pieces to dry. The vegetable chopper I had was much harder to clean than my Breville food processor.

      @@CarolinaFlorezCoaching , clean up does take a bit, but you save some much time and as you can see the end result is amazing. It does come with a brush and a spatula that are specially designed. You must be careful around this machine and the blades are so SHARP!!

    That is by FAR the BEST informative video online for how these new dicing parts work! Better than what Breville put out there for viewers...I want to know what it sounds like when operating, not pretty music in the background so I have no idea what it sounds like in action. I and my gf like to cook Mexican over the weekend. She is in charge of pico de gallo and it takes her about 2 hours to make. We received our peel and dice food processor yesterday and it took her 1 hour to do first batch and 5mins to do the second batch. THATS INSANE!! We also did the guacamole in the mini bowl and later made salsa from scratch, and both of them took about 30 mins (including looking up salsa recipe and cleaning).

    You could do the tomatoes last, like you demonstrated with just the top off and then dump the diced tomatoes into a colander or sieve to remove some of the fluid if it’s too wet.

      I've been making pico for at least 15 years now, and have been using an Nemco EZ chopper for the dice work for the last 10 or so. I found this video because I am considering buying the Breville Sous Chef for making salsa, slaw, etc. Might also use this for pico, but it did look like it was tearing the tomatoes up, which I sort of expected because of either the distribution arm or how it feeds from a lateral movement to vertical.
      I always leave the core in (some knife work required). I drain the juice and save it for use it in other things (soups, marinades because I'm an omnivore, etc). I fabricated a 1 gallon storage solution that strains out, leaving about an inch of room for juice collection.

    I still love my Breville sous chef peel and dice! Peeling potatoes and slicing the potatoes, celery, onion and carrots for slow cooker vegetable pot roast takes only a few minutes. I use it for Chef AJ's 5 minute salsa. I dice vegetables in large quantities for salads 5 days a week for 2 people. In short, this appliance keeps me happy on my whole food plant exclusive lifestyle.

    I love how much attention to detail you have. I used to just make things like this with a straight S blade without worrying about the dicing.
    But this definitely looks nice! Also - you could take the tomatoes and put them into a sieve to drain them before adding them to the whole batch to separate out some of the liquid. This looks amazing! I wonder how long this will last for you?? Thanks for your video. I used to work at Sur La Table and they would be proud to have you demo this machine!!

    Thank you so much for doing this video. I have had the slice and dice pieces for a long time, like YEARS ! I’ve watched your video more than once. I made a quadruple batch of New England Clam Chowder today. I used the slice and dice for the potatoes, I also used the standard pieces to do the carrots, celery and onion but next time, I’ll use the slice and dice for the onion. I wasn’t ready last night to use the slice and dice when I did the onions. I watched your video today and said “That’s it, I’m using it !” I did it right the first time thanks to carefully watching you and how you put the parts together to use it. Chowder made and all in the freezer. Thanks so much ! I won’t be scared to use it anymore !

I literally opened the box, saw it then washed it, and used it to make Christmas dinner. I kid you not, it is the best machine I ever used--next to my Vitamix. My kitchen is becoming quite the "vegan kitchen" and I am super proud of the investment we've made into our health and our children's health (and these tools will help me make healthy things they will actually enjoy eating). Looking forward to more recipe videos, so I can use my newest kitchen tool.

    In my opinion, it doesn't save time .Because, now you need to clean the whole thing up. Which also takes quite some time, does it? I believe one is as fast as this machine by just using a knife. But, if you not that comfortable with using a knife, this could be an alternative for sure. Anyways, the Pico looks absolutely delicious.

    Easy to follow presentation. Being a relatively new home cook, I just purchased this Breville food processor, and wanted to watch a few video demos, before reading the user’s manual in order to get more comfortable with using this product. Appreciate your pointing out that the 8MM and 16MM dicing disks were not included with this processor. I thought they were included from looking at the pictures on the box… Would have been frustrating to have been ready to use them in following a recipe, and realized they were “sold separate” accessories ($130 accessories + $500 food processor = $630... Expensive!). Your pico recipe demo is an excellent example of how to use this food processor, and encouraged me to make some of my own pico!

    Thanks for showing how to use the dicer. I couldn't figure out how to use it. I will try again now that I have watched this. I was getting mad because, like you said, this thing is expensive. The instructions were confusing.

    I would love this food processor with the additional accessories. I've researched food processors and Breville was tops. Maybe one of the shopping networks will sell it with an easy pay option. I don't enjoy standing and cutting for hours.

    The best video I have seen using the Breville Sous Chef 16 food processor. One question - The geared spindle and the spreader seems to be an additional purchase and one cannot use the dicers AT ALL without this separate purchase. Am I right ? But, thanks again for this super video.🙏🏽

    Definitely a handy machine if you're batch cooking. I don't mind spending money on good machines and Breville is good. I have the Smart Oven Air...love it in the summer so I can still have my roasted potatoes and not die of heat stroke in the kitchen. Pico is my favorite food after hummus. Do you eat 4+ quarts of pico before it spoils?

    I want that machine! LOL. It would have been easy to put the diced tomatoes in a colander and let the juice drain out some before adding to the pico de gallo. Now to save up $500....!!!

    Just purchased one of these. They just finished a promotional that provided the extra dicing kit for free. Now they will give you 40% off but you have to call Breville USA and request the deal.

    at first i was like, nah, i'd rather do it by hand for a $700 set food processor. then i saw the 30 tomatoes and was like yeah, thats what its for. great for doing huge batches, especially if you have a garden and grow your own food. still, its extremely expensive.

    • @GardenJensJourney
      @GardenJensJourney 3 роки тому

      Very expensive. Also, now it's near impossible to find. It's a great product, IF you can afford to invest in your kitchen like that. I'm not at that point in life. A $100 similar appliances is about all I can squeeze out of my wallet.

    An easy way to use all of the tomatoes and not waste the tops is to de-stem them with a tomato corer. Back in my restaurant days, we used ones called a "Tomato Shark." This is a simple tool can be found on Amazon.
