The creation of the charter should be done both by project manager and the sponsor and the team. Preferably all in a conference room, to capture all views and opinions reflecting them on the charter. The discussion had can be more important than just producing a product charter document. At minimum, send the draft to the sponsor and get feedback and signatures.

Really loved this video. I am in the entertainment industry so I know very little about software/computer building project types, with the exception of my PMP classes. These videos include examples easier to understand than any other videos I have found. Recommend!!!
This Video is pretty detailed with examples that makes you see through the "blurry screen". Really helpful. I think why some project managers tend to prepare the project charter themselves is because: 1. They have a fair idea of the project scope, objectives and execution process 2. Sometimes getting people to sit down and discuss a project charter may be time consuming. I will advocate that the discussion be moved to project plan preparation phase

So great! This video really helped me break down the simple process of creating a project charter. All the other resources I was using to learn seemed to overly complicate this process, and as such a key moment to a project, I really needed this clarity. I am a Program Administrator on a Government contract. My role has morphed into assisting the Program Manager and I find I am frustrated with our lack of team alignment. I am constantly generating reports, sending email reminders, creating new spreadsheets for tracking, and want so badly to create gantt charts, use Monday, and contact vendors to extinguish problems as efficiently as possible. All of these things are not in my lane, but I do not want to see the team fail on our project so I take initiative and just do it. Recently, our Contracts specialist pulled me aside and mentioned "PMP". I had never heard of this! After watching several of your videos, I have to say that I am enlightened and I am excited to have finally realized what my true potential can be! And should be! With all of this said, what are the first steps to put my PMP certification into motion? Are there grants and/or scholarships available for the course? I am avid about never paying full price for anything (budget savvy), so is there a more cost effective route to take for this single mom who enjoys being in control? Thank You in advance, Disco :)
