I’ll just make a comparison for this scene… Ben is a more intimidating phantom opposite of Raul’s character. I think the Australian version works better here…
Maturity? He's doing the exact same shit as last time, only this time around he's threatening to murder a 10 year old and making bets behind the back of the woman he claims to love. Absolutely no lessons have been learned here.
Ramin was by far the sexiest (and overall best) phantom ever portrayed and literally nothing can change my mind. His soft whispers and taunts, his VOICE, his sass, his suave, even his little whispered “hi” got me 😩
I like the way Erik spoke in this production. Evil with a sense of humor. In Aussie version the phantom talked like jarjarbinks and I just couldn’t take him seriously lol
@@MeaganSal96 You are not alone. I don’t like the Aussie production as much particularly Ben Lewis. Anna has an amazing voice but acting lacks and Ben and her together have very little chemistry and acted wooden and stiff together.
Erik still calls Raul insolent boy. Raul still thinks that he can outsmart the phantom. But Erik knows how to beat him every time. He gets in his head about everything. The phantom of the opera is literally inside his mind.
yeah its messed up if you think about it. Christine isn't choosing who she wants to stay with, she's being manipulated into whether she will sing or not. And Erik had promised her to pay off all their debts so she thought she was doing the right thing, not to mention threatened her son if she didn't sing?? Also she wasn't aware that if she sang her husband would just up and leave her. And then she dies never finding out they made this bet about who would 'keep' her? I love parts of this musical but Christine really gets a raw deal, everyone is awful to her, and then she gets killed
Ursa that’s why I never liked this show very much. And what about Gustave? I think even if Raul have never been a perfect father, Gustave still probably love him, right? Raul spent with him 10 years, and now he just leaves. I don’t buy this, but the music from this musical is very beautiful I must admit sorry for my bad english
This is why Ramin is my favorite phantom! The sass he uses is hilarious and really fits this scene. His little wave right before he leaves has me DEAD😂😂
can we talk about these lines: "Before I see that monstrosity of a face again." "Hi. >:)" "Foul as sin. Hideous. Horrible!" "Haha... very good." “Such a child. Strange to see. Talented. Musical. Is he more you or me?” when did erik get a fucking sense of humor jesus LORD
You see, when a child is made the dad gains a sense of humor, over time it turns into something called the dad joke, since Erik wasn't around Gustave much he just has the sense if humor
Ive just watched the official recording of Love Never Dies. Its more serious than Ramin and Sierra's. Though the musicality of it is beautifully executed, i still would loooove to see a full show where Sierra and Ramin are the Lead.
It shows the maturity that Erik/ Phantom has gone through, how he can first of all not wear his mask and is comfortable with being without it. Even after Gustav screamed in fear. He's not covering up, so either he understands how his son is feeling or he's put all that pent up anger into his intimidation. 2) this is purely Ramin having fun I have no doubt but, how he teases and laughs at Raoul, from that first Hi, to the way he holds his finger up and says very good to the insult about how horrible he looks. When in Phantom he was so insecure about his looks, he'd almost burst into tears when his mask was off or he'd explode with anger. 3) How when Raoul throws that punch he doesn't react with as much anger as his younger self would. There's a calmness to him now, hes grown up and matured. Where as Raoul has grown more and more problematic. Its this that made me know that Christine would chose the Phantom, he's not the same man he was, he's the better man.
@@Angelofmusic2022 That's lovely to hear; thank you, I'm a writer, and one of my main passions is well-written characters. And even though more or less Love Never Dies is ALW's fanfiction, because his wife, the original Christine, left him, and this was his closure. He genuinely improved on The Phantom, he let him mature, and that's something that many sequels fail to do, let their characters grow but keep their core values, what made them who they were. For example, Simba In The Lion King 2, I wouldn't say I like that movie. I think it's lazy, and I believe it's problematic without an explanation of why Simba suddenly becomes this overzealous father. Yes, it's clearly the trauma from losing Muffy, but to banish a whole pride with cubs to a place where they struggle to survive is almost oppressive, and that's not who Simba was. Without an explanation for that 'growth', it takes away from what The Lion King taught us. On the other hand, the Phantom has the growth to be a better man, to do what he wants to do, and win Christine back, but not in the desperate way he tried all those years ago. He lets it be Christine's choice if she sings or doesn't. He leaves it up to her, and to be fair, I think he's just as surprised she does choose him. She sings his song, that he wrote about them, and how he felt, that love never dies. And he won her because Christine saw he had changed, that he had grown and was willing to let her go. Whereas Raoul needed to hold onto her, needed that control. Because he's lost it everywhere else in his life.
@@Brisingrize you're welcome! I'm a writer as well so I definitely understand. In depth characters are hard to find (and to write) so I really admire them. Exactly, I feel the same way about Lion King 2. It always threw me off and I had a hard time watching it. Ofc his past effected the way he acted as an adult and father but it was still strange. Yes yes yes everything that you said, I totally agree! Beautiful!
Please. When this pandemic is over, bring back POTO and LND and let Ramin and Sierra do them specially LND with Hadley as Raoul OMGSH can't imagine Ramin and Hadley doing Devil Take the Hindmost!!! ❤️❤️
Even though I love Ben Louis’ version, I still can’t go over Ramin’s “hi”, “good one”, and bye-bye wave😂😂our Phantom after knowing he have the son gets very excited I guess
I prefer the blocking in this version so much more. The Phantom almost never turns his back on Raoul because he doesn’t trust him. In the Aussie version he has his back to Raoul way too much, which is bad tactics.
That’s probably to sell that raoul could be seeing an illusion of the phantom up until he gets choked by him, which is why he is so shocked at how he’s going to lose her forever?
Anyone else wish Christine would have walked in on these two singing and been like, "F**k this, I'm out," and then taken Gustave somewhere far away from this crazy nonsense?
I love the cinematography of the Aussie DVD version (and love the Raoul in the Aussie version by far), but this edgy vibe is also fun in it's own sinister way. :) Back to neck grabbing again, I remembered the phantom had a perchant for hanging people in the original. ^^;
i don't care what y'all say i absolutely LOVE this musical and i love it even more when Ramin is involved in the production. his phantom is entertaining, a lil sassy and fun to watch. Ma man is a AAAAAA++++ class actor/singer.
The mirror is really interesting. It leads to some really interesting anti-cheat out moments and I can imagine being there live and seeing one half of the Phantom's face in front of you and the other half being visible in the mirror. Ramin noticeably doesn't cheat out for most of the song, so he either looks completely like himself or completely caked in Phantom makeup. You don't really see his full face. This is really detail-focused and such a cool choice. Also, what exactly happened to the actual bartender? What did the Phantom do to him?
[RAOUL (spoken):] Miss Giry, I'm not afraid of him! I've bested him before, and if he ever had the courage to meet me face to face, man to man... No, no, it can't be [PHANTOM (spoken):] Not afraid of me, you say? [RAOUL (spoken):] Stay back or I'll kill you, I promise you! [PHANTOM (spoken):] Of course. As you say, you've beaten me before. But that was a long time ago, Vicomte. And we were playing a different game [PHANTOM:] Look at you, deep in debt Stinking drunk, pitiful Shall we two make a bet? Devil take the hindmost [RAOUL:] Look at you, foul as sin Hideous, horrible Call the stakes, deal me in Devil take the hindmost [PHANTOM/(RAOUL [spoken]):] Our Christine shall choose tonight (Let her choose!) Is she yours or mine? (Draw the line) If she sings, you lose tonight (I won't lose) [PHANTOM:] You leave from here [RAOUL (spoken):] Fine! PHANTOM: Disappear RAOUL (spoken): Fine! (sung) And if she won't? If I win? [PHANTOM:] All your debts wiped away [RAOUL:] Very well, let's begin [BOTH:] Devil take the hindmost [PHANTOM/(RAOUL):] (You think you have the odds) Our old game (You think you're in control) It's been changed (You think you've fixed the dice) Every throw (Well, I will gladly roll) Riskier (I'll bet against the house) All the rules (I'll even double down) Rearranged Fate has redesigned most (Fortune's on my side, I won her long ago) Cut the deck (I won her from you then) Let us play (I'll beat you even now) You and I (I'll win her back again) Once again In the end (And when the game is done) Either way [BOTH:] Devil take the hindmost Now Christine shall choose at last Is she yours or mine?
Both The Phantom and Raul were in the wrong making Christine the prize in a bet she knows nothing of. Then it show the Phantom loves only himself. The bet plays on Raúl's weaknes. Then the fruit that was planted after the phantom of the opera and the bet blooms at the end (in death).
I love the staging in this original version better than the new ones because they have Erik just strolling around confident not wearing his mask and in this particular part the mirror behind the bar gives the detail of the two sides of his face as he uses his deformity to taunt Raoul. No matter which side he turns you can see the other side of his face which I really love. The new version have Erik in the mask more including this scene and for me makes the mirror on the bar a bit useless.
The dry humor with Ramin's Phantom is absolutely beautiful "Hi" (0:09) "Very good" (0:56) That little wave he does at the end (3:10) OH HE'S SO *_GOOOOOD_*

Am I the only one laughing at how Erik was literally impersonating the bartender for seven seconds and he still put on the apron- 💀💀
classic erik, outfit drama queen. we love it.
I really wish Ramin and Sierra would do this show again AND FILM IT. I need a better version than the Australian cast 🤣🤣
The best part is how they show the phantom's maturity since phantom of the opera
Trevor Allen THIS is why i like the west end version more bc it didnt disregard the character arc of erik since POTO
YES!!!
Maturity? He's doing the exact same shit as last time, only this time around he's threatening to murder a 10 year old and making bets behind the back of the woman he claims to love. Absolutely no lessons have been learned here.
"hi" what maturity
@@vsGoliath96 might be a stupid question, but how is he threatening to murder a 10 year old?
Ramin was by far the sexiest (and overall best) phantom ever portrayed and literally nothing can change my mind. His soft whispers and taunts, his VOICE, his sass, his suave, even his little whispered “hi” got me 😩
so real 😭😭 I love him so much
Gerard Butler 🔥🎭😍
Real
I like the way Erik spoke in this production. Evil with a sense of humor. In Aussie version the phantom talked like jarjarbinks and I just couldn’t take him seriously lol
bugi dog Are you talking about Ben Lewis? Bc if so, I thought I was the only one who had an issue with the way he spoke/sang lmao
Meagan W.
Should have seen him play the original role in London. Leagues ahead of Ramin, and I love Ramin.
@@CynicalCharmer I agree 100%
@@MeaganSal96 You are not alone. I don’t like the Aussie production as much particularly Ben Lewis. Anna has an amazing voice but acting lacks and Ben and her together have very little chemistry and acted wooden and stiff together.
JAR JAR BINKS LMAOOO
Erik still calls Raul insolent boy. Raul still thinks that he can outsmart the phantom. But Erik knows how to beat him every time. He gets in his head about everything. The phantom of the opera is literally inside his mind.
I love how Ramin just casually slips in the idea the kid is his and not Raoul's and he compliments Raoul on insulting him
Just to be clear, this song is literally about who can manipulate Christine to his will gets to “keep” her.
Kaara yess, very good song but cruel at some point
Women don't need opinions or choices, silly billy, lol.
Both men are so greatly insecure mentally wise.
yeah its messed up if you think about it.
I don’t buy this, but the music from this musical is very beautiful I must admit
sorry for my bad english
I love Ramin's laugh at 0:56
His laugh is so sexy 💖 i just love it
This is why Ramin is my favorite phantom! The sass he uses is hilarious and really fits this scene. His little wave right before he leaves has me DEAD😂😂
“Hi”
“Very good”
Damn Ramin is so sassy!
You can really see he's having so much fun playing Erik.
EXACTLY!!!! sassy yet bad ass!
Ramin embodies Erik so perfectly and his sass here just gets my hot under the collar 😍 🔥
Raoul: “Hideous, Horrible.”
Erik: Your wife doesn’t think so
The gasps in the audience when Erik said 'are you sure' lmao
can we talk about these lines:
"Before I see that monstrosity of a face again."
"Hi. >:)"
"Foul as sin. Hideous. Horrible!"
"Haha... very good."
“Such a child. Strange to see. Talented. Musical. Is he more you or me?”
when did erik get a fucking sense of humor jesus LORD
You see, when a child is made the dad gains a sense of humor, over time it turns into something called the dad joke, since Erik wasn't around Gustave much he just has the sense if humor
Ive just watched the official recording of Love Never Dies. Its more serious than Ramin and Sierra's. Though the musicality of it is beautifully executed, i still would loooove to see a full show where Sierra and Ramin are the Lead.
Ramin is the best and sexiest phantom omg that voice can melt any girl
Even though I don't consider Love Never Dies as Canon, this is literally such a nice observation
Beautiful!
Ramin is still my favourite Phantom...
Raoul: we've a son, our bond's secure
Erik: UNO REVERSE CARD
Why I love Ramin in every role he does. He’s evil, charming, and still so funny! He takes a character and makes it a person! 💜
2:20 Seriously can't get over that "you or me" facial expression ugh so good!
3:10 And that laugh and waving hand ughhhhh 😍
I prefer the blocking in this version so much more. The Phantom almost never turns his back on Raoul because he doesn’t trust him. In the Aussie version he has his back to Raoul way too much, which is bad tactics.
That’s probably to sell that raoul could be seeing an illusion of the phantom up until he gets choked by him, which is why he is so shocked at how he’s going to lose her forever?
i love how ramin says musical here - “mEWsical”
Phantom: are you so sure?
One lady in the audience: hahgahahaahha
Ramin just controls the room so easily! ❤️
For all the things I like about the Australian version, this is far superior.
also ramin is the sexiest phantom in existence and he looks magnificent here.
I love Ramin’s little goodbye wave at the end🤣
Anyone else wish Christine would have walked in on these two singing and been like, "F**k this, I'm out," and then taken Gustave somewhere far away from this crazy nonsense?
Ramin is without a boubt the best phantom. I love his renditions
ramin is the best phantom
THE WAVE AT THE END GOT ME
I love the cinematography of the Aussie DVD version (and love the Raoul in the Aussie version by far), but this edgy vibe is also fun in it's own sinister way. :) Back to neck grabbing again, I remembered the phantom had a perchant for hanging people in the original. ^^;
This is what happens when you mix in scene an actor like Karimloo and an actor that doesn’t act. The guy that plays Raoul totally ruined the scene.
Hadley Fraser should've been in there.
To be fair, he is the understudy
I've probably watched this video a bit too much.....
Oh...my. 😍 Do you happen to have LND's ending with Rierra? I'm curious how it differs with the changes.
blissinchains Yes! I can upload it this weekend, most likely tomorrow when I have time 😊
that “Hi” was so funny what the heck
Ramin’s Phantom here is so extra! We stan a sassy musical king! 👌😩
I never watched this version and I get hit with Ramin's 'Hi' with the finger wag, I'm crying 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hehe
i don't care what y'all say i absolutely LOVE this musical and i love it even more when Ramin is involved in the production. his phantom is entertaining, a lil sassy and fun to watch. Ma man is a AAAAAA++++ class actor/singer.
ramin just adds so much spice to the role
I love his little wave at the end. Sassy.
When he leaves he waves lmao I can't I love this song even more now
The mirror is really interesting.
[RAOUL (spoken):]
Miss Giry, I'm not afraid of him! I've bested him before, and if he ever had the courage to meet me face to face, man to man... No, no, it can't be
[PHANTOM (spoken):]
Not afraid of me, you say?
[RAOUL (spoken):]
Stay back or I'll kill you, I promise you!
[PHANTOM (spoken):]
Of course. As you say, you've beaten me before. But that was a long time ago, Vicomte. And we were playing a different game
[PHANTOM:]
Look at you, deep in debt
Stinking drunk, pitiful
Shall we two make a bet?
Devil take the hindmost
[RAOUL:]
Look at you, foul as sin
Hideous, horrible
Call the stakes, deal me in
Devil take the hindmost
[PHANTOM/(RAOUL [spoken]):]
Our Christine shall choose tonight
(Let her choose!)
Is she yours or mine?
(Draw the line)
If she sings, you lose tonight
(I won't lose)
[PHANTOM:]
You leave from here
[RAOUL (spoken):]
Fine!
PHANTOM:
Disappear
RAOUL (spoken):
Fine!
(sung)
And if she won't?
If I win?
[PHANTOM:]
All your debts wiped away
[RAOUL:]
Very well, let's begin
[BOTH:]
Devil take the hindmost
[PHANTOM/(RAOUL):]
(You think you have the odds)
Our old game
(You think you're in control)
It's been changed
(You think you've fixed the dice)
Every throw
(Well, I will gladly roll)
Riskier
(I'll bet against the house)
All the rules
(I'll even double down)
Rearranged
Fate has redesigned most
(Fortune's on my side, I won her long ago)
Cut the deck
(I won her from you then)
Let us play
(I'll beat you even now)
You and I
(I'll win her back again)
Once again
In the end
(And when the game is done)
Either way
[BOTH:]
Devil take the hindmost
Now Christine shall choose at last
Is she yours or mine?
Both The Phantom and Raul were in the wrong making Christine the prize in a bet she knows nothing of. Then it show the Phantom loves only himself. The bet plays on Raúl's weaknes. Then the fruit that was planted after the phantom of the opera and the bet blooms at the end (in death).
the audience's laughter is sending me
I love the staging in this original version better than the new ones because they have Erik just strolling around confident not wearing his mask and in this particular part the mirror behind the bar gives the detail of the two sides of his face as he uses his deformity to taunt Raoul. No matter which side he turns you can see the other side of his face which I really love. The new version have Erik in the mask more including this scene and for me makes the mirror on the bar a bit useless.
The dry humor with Ramin's Phantom is absolutely beautiful
"Hi" (0:09)
"Very good" (0:56)
That little wave he does at the end (3:10)
OH HE'S SO *_GOOOOOD_*
Ramin's Phantom speaking voice sounds so different compared to his POTP 25th anniversary voice
This reminds me of Other Side - The Greatest Showman
Such an amazing make up! When I read the book, I imagined Erik like this.
Corspsy
"Maybe we should leave before i have to see that monstrosity again"
"Hi 🧏♂️"
Lmao
I've been listening to this song on constant repeat for 2 weeks now but seeing Ramin perform it instead of just hearing it...wow. Sassiest Phantom ever and I am SO here for it. Like dang, Erik. That 10 years gave you so much time to practice your sass huh? Also the little finger wave when Raoul turned around and saw him "Hi" lolol had me laughing so hard. 😂😂😂
Raoul: "We've a son. Our bond's secured."
Phantom: ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT?
Sooo the point in Love Never Die was never gamble your wife🤔🤔
I think the point of LND is to never write a sequel to your greatest work while still emotionally sore from a divorce else it will sound like revenge fanfic, but who is to say?
And I thought the Australian one was the best.....
I was wrong....
I MEAN RAMIN IS SOOOOOO SASSY! I would marry him both in real life and in Phantom of the Opera.
The difference between Ramin’s PotO Phantom and his LND Phantom: you can absolutely tell his LND!Phantom fucks.
practically living for ramin's evil laugh here
Ramins laugh is evil yet still so sexy 🥰
I love how the Phantom is like: “That’s our son…and he don’t belong to you.”
Omg phantom leaves with that hand genture
Raoul: *slowly processes what just happened* MY CHRISTINE
Me: im still rooting for phantom ;)
Erik! That is his name! Yes I love EC!
Ramin is very salty here as we can see
raoul :, we have a son
the phantome :, are you sure
raoul: what
the phantome : are you so sure
raoul :what do you mean
looool 😂😂😂
What if Ramin instead “Bonjour.”
