Alginate Ear Casting | Making a Mold for Variety of Casting Materials

Did you know that you can cast BJB's TC-1630 Ultracast into Wet Alginate Molds to produce life castings? Starting with an alginate mold of our model's ear, we make a casting using TC-1630 and then pull off a TC-5041 Platinum Silicone mold for future castings. This allows us to create a variety of parts using assorted BJB materials like Flex Foam, Soft Polyurethane Elastomer, Silicone, and much more!

Hello! Can I pour silicone directly in my alginate mold or do I have to make a resin cast, then silicone cast then silicone again for the final product? Thank you:)

Platinum silicone may be sensitive to certain alginate blends, so you need to check depending on the combo of materials used. There is no hard-set rule to it. One of the best resources to ask is Mitch at BITY Mold Supply:
